2019届二轮复习 阅读理解议论文(10篇)训练之一 [一] The old saying that practice makes perfect seems to make no sense when it comes to schoolwork. Many educators today are looking for evidence to support the case for homework, but are coming up emptyhanded.“Homework is all pain and no gain,” says author Alfie Kohn.He points out that no study has ever found a relationship between homework and academic achievement in elementary school. Mary Jane Cera is the academic administrator for the Kino School,a private, nonprofit kindergarten—through12thgrade school in Tucson,Arizona, and she maintains a nohomework policy across all grades. The purpose of the policy is to make sure learning remains a joy,not a thing that discourages social time and creative activity. Many supporters of homework argue that life is filled with things we don't like to do,and that homework teaches selfdiscipline, time management and other nonacademic life skills. Kohn challenges this popular idea;he says that if kids have no choice when it comes to homework, they're not really exercising judgment, and are instead losing their sense of autonomy. At the Kino School,Cera says children often choose to take their favorite parts of school home.“A lot of what we see kids doing is continuing to write in journals, practicing music with their friends, and taking experiments home to show their parents,” she says. Surveys of Kino graduates suggest that the early control they are given over their education continues to serve them well into college, and that they feel better equipped to manage their time and approach professors with questions than other students do. One of the reasons why we continue to assign homework,Kohn says,is our obsession (着迷) with standardized tests. Even if we can agree on the importance of kids doing better on tests,he says, there is no research to suggest that homework is the ticket to success. Wherever the homework debate goes next,it's worth taking a moment to examine if we're asking the right questions about our children's education. 32.Which of the following is Kohn's idea? A.Homework teaches students life skills. B.Standardized tests are not important in education. C.The quality of homework is linked to students' interests. D.Homework is not connected with academic achievement in elementary school. 33.According to the text,Mary Jane Cera . A.thinks that learning should help develop student's creativity B.argues some homework should be assigned to students C.finds her students can't finish their homework on time D.believes in the connection between homework and academic achievement 34.What can we infer from the fourth paragraph? A.Students who do more homework study better. B.Students who refuse homework have better timemanagement skills. C.Students who have control over their studies can do better in college. D.Students who have better professors have better academic performance. 35.What is the attitude of the author towards homework? A.Opposed. B.Objective. C.Indifferent. D.Supportive. 故选A。 [二] Whether you went in for a hug only to be met with a handshake,or simply had a fall in front of a crowded room, you're probably wondering what to do next. Avoid the awkwardness or confront it? According to research, you'll want to do a bit of both. In one study,Joshua W.Clegg,an associate professor of psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, found that the first thing you should do is to acknowledge the situation. He wrote,“Direct responses were associated with a reestablished sense of social harmony.” He noted this is often best done through humor—saying something as simple as “Awkward” can put you at ease. Reminding others of your mistakes will only draw the moment out,and can make things more uncomfortable. Facing the situation headon also helps you realize how much of a nonevent most awkward moments are. Withdrawing,on the other hand,“can actually make that anxiety and that sense of awkwardness worse because you're not getting to find out that you can recover,” Bethany Teachman,a professor in the University of Virginian's Department of Psychology, said. Now that you've faced the situation—maybe even laughed it off—let it go. Still feeling uneasy? Remember that embarrassment is normal. It is the price we pay for being messy, imperfect, normal humans,Susan David,PhD,a Harvard Medical School psychologist, said.“A key part of moving on from embarrassment is to practice selfcompassion and selfforgiveness. When you recognize that you are only human and imperfect, just like all other humans are imperfect,it gives us permission to let go of the past embarrassment with the knowledge that we did our best.” 28.What is Joshua W.Clegg's suggestion about the situation? A.To run away from it. B.To speak out your feeling directly. C.To cover your face to protect yourself. D.To remember the people laughing at you. 29.What does the underlined word “Withdrawing” in Paragraph 3 mean? A.Getting back. B.Moving away. C.Coming from. D.Stopping from. 30.Which of the following is wiser and better when people face “awkwardness”? A.To try to recover soon. B.To pretend to be all right. C.To act skillfully and bravely. D.To avoid what other people say. 31.In which section of a magazine can we read the text? A.Advice. B.Health. C.Education. D.Entertainment. 根据第二段中“Direct responses were associated with a reestablished sense of social harmony. He noted this is often best done through humor—saying something as simple as ‘Awkward’ can put you at ease.” 根据最后一段中“A key part of moving on from embarrassment is to practice selfcompassion and selfforgiveness.” 故选A。 [三] Recycling is essential in today's world. The most important reason for this is that human progress and industry have made it possible for people to have lots of things, and when people have many material possessions, they are bound to throw some of them away. This creates a lot of garbage which in turn destroys the environment. Recycling is a way for us to keep the world clean as items are broken down and used again, preventing the littering of the environment. Instead of throwing all your garbage into the trash can,you should separate paper, metal, glass, and plastic into different containers. Compost should also be recycled as this is excellent food for farm animals and also makes for great fertilizer (肥料). You should try to buy products that have been recycled. You can see if an item has been made from recycled materials by its label;if it's been recycled,it will say so. Also, instead of always buying new clothes, you can arrange to have a clothing swap with your friends. You bring clothes you don't want and pick items you want from what other people have brought. Not only does this save the environment, but it also saves your pocketbook. Remember, what is one person's junk can be someone else's treasure! The saying can be applied to all sorts of things:books,CDS,furniture, etc. Also, try shopping at secondhand stores, because they often have lots of items still in good shape for you to choose. Many countries have made it easy for people to recycle,as alongside the normal garbage trucks, special garbage trucks come and pick up recyclables. However,in many countries around the world the responsibility is left up to the individual to recycle. Therefore,it must be made a priority (优先考虑的事) in society so we can continue to make our environment livable. 28.Why is more waste being made in today's world? A.People dislike the updated items. B.People own abundant belongings. C.People intend to live a simple life. D.People have made great progress in industry. 29.What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 3 refer to? A.Exchanging clothes with friends. B.Shopping at secondhand stores. C.Throwing away old clothes. D.Picking up new items. 30.To make the environment enjoyable,we should . A.always buy new clothes B.choose recyclable products C.go shopping at chain stores D.arrange more garbage trucks 31.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.Governments do nothing in recycling. B.Normal vehicles can pick up recyclables. C.The individual seldom cares about recycling. D.Everyone should feel socially responsible for recycling. 故选A。 根据第三段第一句“You should try to buy products that have been recycled.” [四] The one thing everyone loves to hate when it comes to the Internet—the user password—is under fire now. Actually,it's been under fire for a long time. In an ideal world, people would use a long string composed of completely random characters, numbers and symbols. Furthermore,a unique password would be used for every site or application the user uses. Unfortunately, the more complex the passwords become, the more people are likely to forget them. The longer the passwords are,the more easily forgotten they are. Therefore, people use the same password for every service or application. It is a nono and extremely defeats the purpose of a password. Google is trying to kill off the user password,at least on Android devices by introducing the Trust API,which does what simple passwords cannot. It gives developers a framework for securing their applications using a number of security system and metrics (衡量标准) on the device. A Trust Score will be generated based on the metrics the device gathers and will allow or deny access to applications based on whether or not your Trust Score is high enough. The Trust Score will be generated based on metrics like your device location, face scanning and fingerprint, and the things like your typing speed or the way you speak. Taken one at a time, these metrics are not secure. But taken together, these metrics will help define the real “you”. Passwords have been around since the dawn of computing and although the security of systems has been improved, they haven't done much to improve the usability of systems. Google appears to have the best of both worlds—a highly secure system that end users won—even notice. Maybe that neverending conflict between security and convenience will be able to take a break once the trust system comes out. 32.Why are passwords severely criticized? A.They can't protect users against all threats. B.Resetting them needs much time and effort. C.They aren't suitable for the forgetful people. D.It's difficult to get both convenience and safety. 33.How can the Trust API become secure enough? A.By combining various metrics together. B.By locking users' private information. C.By providing users with Trust Scores. D.By changing users' identity recognition ways. 34.What can we know about the trust system? A.It hasn't been proved to be effective. B.It is widely used in many fields. C.It may make passwords out of use. D.It needs to be improved from now on. 35.Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A.Aren't Passwords Very Complex? B.Is the Trust API Just Pie in the Sky? C.What Can the Trust API Bring Users? D.Will Passwords Soon Be a Thing of the Past? 根据第二段后半部分“Unfortunately, the more complex the passwords become, the more people are likely to forget them,... and extremely defeats the purpose of a password.” 根据第三段中“It gives developers a framework for securing their applications using a number of security system and metrics (衡量标准) on the device.” 故选A。 [五] As PhD research goes,Brian Wisenden might be envied:watching baby fish swimming swiftly through the clear waters in the Costa Rican tropical dry forest. By recording their growth and numbers,he hoped to look at their risks of being eaten. Instead,he witnessed something strange. Many groups were increasing in numbers. In these groups, some were smaller than others, suggesting they weren't siblings (兄弟姐妹).Wisenden had accidentally discovered that the fish, called convict cichlids, adopt each other's babies. Why would they do that,he wondered? In the human world,we think of adoption as a selfless act. But in nature, its presence is puzzling. Taking on the burden of bringing up babies with no genetic link would seem to reduce an animal's chance of survival or at least provide no gain. Yet,adoption is surprisingly common in the natural world. Take the eastern grey kangaroo. Between 2008 and 2013,Wisenden followed the fates of 326 baby kangaroos in the Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria and recorded 11 cases of pouch (育儿袋) swapping. The circumstances behind some of these adoptions aren't known, but four were straight swaps and another four occurred after a mother had lost her own baby. How come? Before independence, baby kangaroos go through a period inside and outside their mothers pouch. Following outofpouch attempts, mothers normally sniff their young before allowing them back in,but Wisendens team suspect that during an emergency they may omit the sniff test, allowing a weak baby to quickly climb in before fleeing from danger. Some of nature's adoptions are, actually, driven by young. In burrower bugs (土蝽),for example, females lay a nest of eggs close to those of unrelated bugs. Mother bugs tend their developing eggs before they hatch, and then feed their babies nuts from weedy mint plants. Finding nuts is a competitive business,so not every mother bug gets her fair share. And if the delivery rate isn't up to standard, clever young may abandon their mothers to join a betterfed group. The consequences of adoption following mistaken identity can be horrible. The true babies of adopting mothers were abandoned. But it can have remarkable benefits, not just for adoptees but also for adoptive parents. 28.What can we learn about Wisenden's research about baby fish? A.It was beyond his expectations. B.It put many rare species at risk. C.It showed a genetic similarity in fish. D.It found a new way to protect forests. 29.What does the underlined word “omit” mean in the passage? A.Confirm. B.Repeat. C.Adopt D.Skip. 30.Why would some burrower hugs abandon their mothers? A.To live in warmer nests. B.To reproduce. C.To seek for better parenting. D.To adapt to competition earlier. 31.What may the author most probably talk about next? A.The causes of accidental adoption. B.The processes of accidental adoption. C.The drawbacks of accidental adoption. D.The advantages of accidental adoption. 由第一段的“By recording their growth and numbers,he hoped to look at their risks of being eaten. Instead,he witnessed something strange.” 故选A。 由第四段最后两句“Finding nuts is a competitive business, ... abandon their mothers to join a betterfed group.” 由最后一段的“But it can have remarkable benefits, not just for adoptees but also for adoptive parents.” [六] Time wasters are real enemies of success. Time wasters could be people, events or habits that lead to the opposite path away from our goals. The most important starting point in removing the time wasters in life is to know about them. We need to sit down and analyze the activities which take our time. Start by making a list of our activities and sort out the neither urgent nor important ones. Sometimes it could be a simple addiction to a TV Soap Opera, constant distractions,or even one of our core (核心的) activities that we are not excellent at doing. We can,for instance, imagine that we are a business owner and we keep sabotaging our business deals, leading the company into great financial problems. It may be time for us to have our associates do the marketing while we concentrate on the areas we are best in. The next thing would be to make sure that we plan our daily activities. One of the obvious reasons is that we will have an upper hand in fighting against time wasters in our schedule. If what we want to do or what we don't want to do becomes clear, our focus is strengthened. Moreover, when we think of people We spend time with,we are sure to notice that some have a more positive impact on our success while others have a negative one. It is important to be able to distinguish them especially with regard to our schedule. While we do not advocate for everyone to throw away relationships,it is good to know that helping a friend who is emotionally disturbed can wait till dinner time. Finally,do the same to our habits. List all the habits and addictions that take any amount of our time. Then, take a little time to straighten them out in line with their importance and urgency. Depending on our analysis, kill those that are harmful to our goals in life. 28.Which of the following is the best title for the passage? A.The Importance of Developing Good Habits B.The Significance of Planning Daily Activities C.Ways of Distinguishing People We Spend Time with D.Ways of Removing Time Wasters from Our Lives 29.The underlined word “sabotaging” in Paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to . A.promoting B.offering C.damaging D.striking 30.What do we know about time wasters from the passage? A.They fail to set clear goals for their life. B.They arrange things on importance and need. C.They turn away our attention from achieving goals. D.They are addicted to sorting out the important activities. 31.Which of the following shows the development of ideas in this passage? 由全文主题句,即第一段末句“We need to sit down and analyze the activities which take our time.” 由划线词后的“leading the company into great financial problems”可知,We can,for instance, imagine that we are a business owner and we keep sabotaging our business deals,这句话的意思是:例如我们可以想像我们是一名企业主,并且在生意中一直亏损。 由第一段第二句“Time wasters could be people, events or habits that lead to the opposite path away from our goals.” [七] When we think of a generation gap we usually think of conflicting tastes in music,or pastimes. But now the generation gap is handwriting. After one teacher in Tennessee discovered that she had students who couldn't read the assignments she was writing on the board, she posted it on the Internet saying handwriting should be taught in schools. Opponents claim that handwriting has become out of time in our modern world. Typed words have become a primary form of communication. Once a practical skill handwriting is no longer used by the vast majority of Americans. It is no longer taught in schools, and some claim that the time that it would take to teach it could be put to better use,for instance,by teaching the technical skills. But even in today's world there are still plenty of reasons to pick up a pen and apply it to paper. Many American institutions still require original signatures, for instance, signing for a registered letter and buying a house. And original signatures are much more difficult to forge (伪造) than their digital counterparts. There is also strong evidence that writing by hand is good for the mind. It activates a different part of the brain, and improves fine moving skills in young children. People also tend to remember what they write by hand more than what they type, and the process of writing by hand has been shown to stimulate ideas. Besides, studies have shown that kids who write by hand learn to read and spell earlier than those who don't. Not to mention, handwriting is pleasing,as is evidenced by the fact that no one has ever typed a love letter. And handwriting remains popular as an art form. Yes,we live in a modern world, but we live in a modern world that is based on fundamental values. 32.What did the teacher find in her class? A.Her students had a big generation gap with her. B.Her handwriting was too terrible to understand. C.Some students could not recognize her handwriting on the blackboard. D.Some students' handwriting on the blackboard was too difficult to tell. 33.Why do some people agree to teach handwriting in school? A.Handwriting is easy to remember. B.Handwriting is beneficial to the brain. C.Handwriting can help one buy a house. D.Handwriting is an art form out of time. 34.What can we infer from the passage? A.Handwriting is widely used in America. B.What people write by hand is not easy to fake. C.Handwriting is emphasized in our modern society. D.Those with good handwriting may perform better in their studies. 35.What is the author's attitude towards teaching handwriting in school? A.Opposed. B.Objective. C.Unconcerned. D.Favorable. 根据第一段最后一句“After one teacher in Tennessee discovered that ... should be taught in schools.” 根据第三段中“There is also strong evidence that writing by hand is good for the mind.It activates a different part of the brain, and improves fine moving skills in young children.” 根据第三段中“And original signatures are much more difficult to forge (伪造) than their digital counterparts.” [八] The human brain remembers negative experiences more easily than positive ones. Our brains have developed this way because threats, like dangerous animals, had a more immediate effect on our ancestors' survival compared to positive things like food or shelter. As a result, you likely know what makes you unhappy, but do you know what makes you happy? Research suggests that our level of happiness depends partly on factors we cannot control—our genes and our life circumstances. But our level of happiness is also shaped by the choices we make. If you've been chasing wealth, fame, good looks, material things and power, you may be looking for happiness in all the wrong places. Psychologists suggest that the following habits make people happier. People who form close relationships tend to be happier than those who do not. The number of friends we have is not important. What matters is the quality of our relationships. Relationships that bring happiness usually involve the sharing of feelings, mutual respect, acceptance, trust and fun. People who exercise regularly improve both their physical and mental well- being. Some research has shown that exercise can be as effective as medication in treating depression. When we are so interested in an activity we enjoy that we lose track of time,we are in a state of flow. The activity could be making art, playing piano, surfing,or playing a game. People who experience flow in their work or hobbies tend to be happier. People are more likely to be happy if they know what their strengths are and use them regularly. People who set goals and use their strengths to achieve them tend to be happier. People are especially happy when they can use their strengths to serve the greater good. People who think positively by being grateful, mindful and optimistic are more likely to be happy. Being grateful means being thankful. Being mindful means being open to,focusing on and enjoying the experiences of the present moment. Being optimistic means being hopeful about the future. 32.Why does the human brain remember negative things more easily? A.Negative things are easy to remember. B.Dangerous wild animals are a threat to us. C.Our ancestors had no enough food for living. D.Negative things tend to affect human survival immediately. 33.How does the author like looking for happiness in material things? A.Uncertain. B.Opposed. C.Supportive. D.Optimistic. 34.What does the author suggest us in the last paragraph? A.Enjoying our life and work. B.Leading a happy life each day. C.Being positive in our life and work. D.Thinking more about the future. 35.What does this text mainly tell us? A.The factors that make people happy. B.How to remember positive things easily, C.The habits which people form in their life. D.Why people remember negative things easily. 根据第一段中“Our brains have developed this way because threats, like dangerous animals, had a more immediate effect on our ancestors' survival compared to positive things like food or shelter.可知,负面的东西相对于积极的东西对我们祖先的生存有更直接的影响,所以更容易被记住。故选D。 33.B 推理判断题。根据第二段中“If you've been chasing wealth, fame, good looks, material things and power, you may be looking for happiness in all the wrong places.”可知,一直追求财富、名誉、美貌、物质和权力,你可能会在所有错误的地方寻找幸福。由此可见作者对寻找物质上的幸福持反对态度。故选B。 34.C 推理判断题。由最后一段首句“People who think positively by being grateful, mindful and optimistic are more likely to be happy.”(积极乐观的人感恩,专注,乐观,更容易快乐。)以及下文几者之间的内在关系可知,作者建议我们在生活和工作中要积极乐观。故选C。 35.A 主旨大意题。文中介绍了几种会让人更快乐的习惯,如建立亲密关系,锻炼,了解自己的优点,感恩,专注,乐观积极的生活态度等,即人快乐的因素。故选A。 [八] We all, at one time or another, have pretended to be a rock star, singing and dancing along to our favorite song. Most of us have done this in the privacy of our own room when we were kids and as adults, in the privacy of our homes. Me? I love to do that when I drive! I turn on the radio, find a song that I can sing along too and pretty soon my arms are in the air and I am moving along to the rhythm. Most of the time, I do this on my way to work. Yes, that is true. I will be in my nice work clothes, jamming while driving or stopped at a traffic light. I get strange looks from some people and others laugh. Personally, I love to get lost in the rhythm of a song which leads me to share with you the importance of being silly! The definition for the word silly, according to the dictionary is: stupid, foolish and nonsensical. I know many people do not want to look foolish. So they walk around all serious, which in all honesty, is foolish! No one is perfect, I repeat: no one is perfect. I don’t care how educated, how thin, how beautiful, how simple, how rich, and so on… No one is perfect! So why pretend to be something you are not? Life is so short… You never know when this beautiful journey will be over, so why waste a single second on being so full of rigidity? Here is a quote by Souza, that I think says it all and is a great recipe for life: “Dance as though no one is watching you; love as though you have never been hurt before; sing as though no one can hear you; live as though heaven is on earth.” When we were kids, we had no idea of what limitations were and we had no care in the world so we could do things without worrying about how we appeared to others. However, as we grew up, we lost that childlike innocence. So don’t lose the child that still lives within you. The next time you feel down, go turn on your favorite song, and sing and dance along like there is no tomorrow. Trust me, you will feel a whole lot better, and who doesn’t want to feel good? 59. Why does the author love to sing when driving? A. Because he likes being silly. B. Because he often gets caught in the traffic jam. C. Because he wants to pretend to be a rock star. D. Because he feels good and loves the way to relax himself. 60. According to the passage, which of the following is RIGHT? A. Work hard and don’t waste your time. B. Those who are honest are really foolish. C. People should act as what they really are. D. You can only dance freely when no one is watching you. 61. Which of the words can replace the underlined word “rigidity” in Para.4? A. seriousness B. joy C. anger D. surprise 62. What is the author trying to tell us in the last paragraph? A. People should live together with their children. B. Kids can do whatever they like without any limitation. C. Turn to children for some help when you feel down. D. Keep your childlike innocence regardless of others’ view. 59-62 DCAD [九] What do you think of straight-A students? Everyone knows about such students. We see them frequently in TV situation comedies and in movies like Revenge of the Nerds. They get high grades, all right, but only by becoming dull laborers, their noses always stuck in a book. They are not good at social communication and look clumsy while doing sports. Then, how do we account for Domenica Roman or Paul Melendres? Roman is on the tennis team at Fairmont Senior High School. She also sings in the choral group, serves on the student council and is a member of the mathematics society. For two years she has maintained A's in every subject.Melendres, a freshman at the University of New Mexico, was student-body president at Valley High School in Albuquerque. He played soccer and basketball well, exhibited at the science fair, and meanwhile worked as a reporter on a local television station.Being a speech giver at the graduation ceremony, he achieved straight A's in his regular classes, plus bonus points for A's in two college-level courses. How do super-achievers like Roman and Melendres do it? Brains aren't the only answer."Top grades don't always go to the brightest students, " declares Herbert Walberg, a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, who has conducted major studies on super-achieving students."Knowing how to make the most of your innate(天生的) abilities counts for more.Much more." In fact, Walberg says, students with high IQ sometimes don't do as well as classmates with lower IQ.For them, learning comes too easily and they never find out how to get down. Hard work isn't me whole story, either."It's not how long you sit there with the books open," said one of the many-A students we interviewed."It's what you do while you're sitting."Indeed, some of these students actually put in fewer hours of homework time than their lower-scoring classmates. For many, goal setting is a never ending circle that starts, stops, and beings again. To help us succeed in reaching our goals, let’s examine the reasons why many people fail at reaching them. Here are 7 Reasons That You Won’t Reach Your Goals: 1. You Don’t Have Any Goals Too many people are afraid to “set” their goals. Afraid of failing. Afraid of disappointment. Well, you definitely won’t complete them if you don’t try. Make a choice and set your goals. Otherwise, you will end up wherever life takes you. 2. You Don’t Start OK, so you have a goal. What have you done about it? Have you started it yet? What are you waiting for? Procrastination is responsible for the failure of many goals. 3. You Aren’t Willing to “Buy” Your Goals Yes. You have to buy your goals. Why? Because every goal has a price. It has a cost. Time. Money. Sweat. Sacrifice. You will have to “pay” for your goals in some manner. 4. Your Goals Are Unrealistic Make sure that your goals are possible and that you set an adequate time frame for success. 5. You Won’t Stick With It Over half of goals will be given up within 30 days. You set your goals. You started them. And then… you gave up. Are you using life’s daily happenings as excuses? Goals are not reached through one effort. Rather, they are made in small steps over time. 6. You Will Fail… and You Won’t Get Back Up! No one succeeds immediately. Those who appear to have effortlessly succeeded have usually put in years of preparation and practice. You have to fall down many times before you will succeed. Skill is learned by doing. 7. You Quit Before the Finish Line Too many people stop… right before the finish. It’s almost like they are afraid of succeeding. Often a life event is used as the reason for not finishing. Something always comes up before you finish. Are you reaching your goals? Which of these is keeping you from succeeding? Set your goals. Stay the course. Always get back up when you fail. And make sure you cross the finish line. 55. What’s the author’s purpose of writing this passage? A. To clarify the reasons leading to the failure of achieving goals. B.
