2019高考英语二轮总练习阅读理解精选(26)及解析
2019高考英语二轮总练习阅读理解精选(26)及解析 A Hello. It’s one of the first words we learn as babies, yet it’s one of the last ones we think to use as adults . That’s unfortunate, because saying hello is more than just saying hello——it is recognition of another’s worth. How might the world change——how might we change——if we mastered this word? To find out, I spent one month saying hello to every person I met. Here’s what I’ve learned. It can boost (促进) productivity. In one of the few studies ever done on this subject, Allan , an assistant professor of special education at Oklahoma State University, had middle school teachers greet their students individually each morning. This exchange of greetings raised the kids’ productivity. School went from impersonal to personal, and that resulted in more class participation and better grades. Environments influence friendliness. One study found that people in the city were less likely to shake hands with a stranger than those in the countryside. And researchers say, pleasant environments generally encourage more smiles and hellos than unpleasant ones. My experience was similar. Whatever the reason, my urban hellos were answered far less often than my rural ones. Similarly, people in vacation spots , like the Jersey Shore, were far friendlier than those hurrying work downtown. It’s a form of universal health insurance. It’s impossible to say hello without smiling. And smiling has been shown to lower blood pressure, relieve stress and boost happiness. Apparently, a smile creates a similar effect in the recipient (接受者). So maybe we can make the world a better place by saying hello to each other. After a month of doing it, I feel lighter and more connected and I have a better sense of well-being. 56.What can be inferred in paragraph 1? A.The first word we learn as babies is Hello. B The parents of a troubled teen may feel unsure as to whom to turn to in order to find help for their child. They may feel as if they have exhausted all of their options, and sometimes they are on the verge of giving up. But there is hope. Schools for troubled teens offer discipline and in some cases, drug treatment programs that can provide important life skills, and more importantly, a fresh start. The following is a list of the most effective types of schools for troubled teens. Not every facility is a match for every child, but by knowing the differences between them, parents can make a better educated decision about where to send their teenagers. Boarding Schools When a child is unable to deal with the relative freedom of a standard school day, boarding schools might be a good choice. At boarding schools, the child lives in a dorm setting, where almost every minute of the day is scheduled by school administrators. Treatment Centers When a teenager has an addiction to drugs or alcohol, a residential center that specializes in young people is an outstanding way to help them break the cycle of addiction. Treatment centers feature individual and group counseling to help identify the root causes of the drug problem and help develop the life skills needed to stay clean when the program is over. Wilderness Programs Designed to help improve the discipline and self-reliance of the child, wilderness programs send kids back to nature. By placing them in a foreign and sometimes uncomfortable setting, wilderness programs hope to improve children’s behavior. Programs generally include hikes, exercise programs and team building exercises. Boot Camps Boot camps are the most extreme style of school for troubled teens. These facilities are modeled after actual military boot camps, where the individual must get into shape, work as part of a team, and follow a long, hard set of rules and regulations. However, boot camps might not be the best choice for a teen with a drug addiction. 60. Who would be the intended readers of the passage? A. Teachers. B. Parents. C. Students. D. Experts. 61. C A new survey finds that more than eighty percent of Internet users in the United States search for health information online. The survey found that searching online is one of the leading ways that people look for a second opinion though doctors are still the main source of health information. Forty-four percent of people are actually looking for doctors or other providers when they search for health information online.Another finding of the survey: Two-thirds of Internet users look online for information about a specific disease or medical condition. The Internet has also become an important source of emotional support for people with health problems.Susannah Fox says one in five Internet users has gone online to find other people who have the same condition. It was more popular among people with more serious health issues—one in four people living with chronic diseases (慢性病).And it was basically off the charts with people living with rare disease. They are so eager to find other people online who share their health concerns. A disease is considered rare if it affects fewer than two hundred thousand people worldwide. The rise of social networking has made it easier for people with rare diseases to connect with each other and feel less alone.Social networking is also changing the way some doctors and patients communicate with each other.Dr.Jeff Livingston operates a medical center for women in Irving, Texas. His office uses password-protected software to share information with patients. “We provide the patient full access to their medical care.Anything I can see, the patient can see.All of their notes, all of their doctor visits are right there. All of their lab work is right there.” Dr.Livingston says the software has increased efficiency, reduced costs and improved relations with patients. 64.From the first paragraph, we can know _________. A.most online health information is reliable B.more people now turn to the Internet for medical advice C.people shouldn’t rely on the Internet for medical advice D.doctors are no longer the patients’ first choice 65.The underlined words “off the charts” in Paragraph 3 mean _________. A.very popular B.not accessible C.far away from D.not attractive 66.By using social networking, patients with rare diseases can _________. A.find effective cures B.get emotional comfort C.ask for financial support D.consult doctors anytime 67.Which of the following is NOT true for Dr.Livingston’s software? A.It cuts down medical expenses. B.It decreases the time spent on medical care. C.It takes doctors closer to their patients. D.It gives patients a medical test online. D Pollution is reducing the fragrance of plants and thus preventing bees from pollinating them—endangering one of the most essential cycles of nature, a new study suggests. The potentially hugely significant research, funded by US National Science Foundation, has found that gases mainly formed from the emissions of car exhaust prevent flowers from attracting bees and other insects to pollinate them. And the scientists who have conducted the study fear that insects’ abilities to drive away enemies and attract mates may also be disturbed. Professor Jose Fuentes, who led the study, said, “Scent molecules(分子) produced by flowers in a less polluted environment could travel for roughly 1,000 to 1,200 meters. But today they may travel only 200 to 300 meters. This makes it increasingly difficult for bees and other insects to locate the flowers.” The researchers, who worked on the molecules of snapdragons(金鱼草),found that the molecules are volatile(易挥发旳) and quickly bond with pollutants, mainly formed from vehicle emissions. This chemically changes the molecules so that they no longer smell like flowers. A harmful cycle is therefore set up where insects struggle to get enough food and the plants do not get pollinated enough to multiply. Already bees, which pollinate most of the world’s crops, reduce in such a great decline that has never been known before in Britain and across much of the globe. At least a quarter of America’s 2.5 million honey bee colonies have been mysteriously wiped out by colony collapse disorder(CCD),where hives are found suddenly deserted. The crisis has now spread to Europe. Politicians insist that CCD has not yet been found in Britain, but considering the present number of bees, the agriculture minister Lord Rooker has sent the warning, “The honey bee population could be wiped out in 10 years.” Although the researchers are not certain whether this is the real cause of CCD, they say that pollution is making life more difficult for bees and other insects in many ways. 68. In what way does pollution prevent flowers from attracting bees? A. By shortening the distance traveled by the scent molecules of flowers. B. By disturbing the bees’ ability to attract mates. C. By weakening the bees’ ability to fight against enemies. D. By stopping flowers from giving off fragrance. 69. What harm does the decreasing number of bees do to human beings? A. It will cause humans not to get enough honey. B. It will reduce the food supplies for the world. C. Humans will have to depend on other insects to pollinate plants. D. Humans will find it hard to deal with the deserted bee hives. 70. From the passage we can know that . A. Europe is affected greatly by CCD B.CCD has destroyed most of the honey bee colonies in Europe C. no honey bees will be found all over the world in the near future D. European officials have paid much attention to CCD 71. What would be the best title for the passage? A. Traffic Pollution Puts Bees in Danger B. Traffic Pollution is to Blame for CCD C. Pollution Makes Flowers Reduce Their Scent D. Pollution Causes the Decrease in Flowers E Six Chinese surveillance ships have entered waters near islands claimed by both China and Japan.China said the ships were carrying out "law enforcement" to demonstrate its jurisdiction over the islands, known as Diaoyu in China and Senkaku in Japan. At least two of the vessels left after the Japanese coast guard issued a warning, Japanese officials say.The move came after Japan sealed a deal to buy three of the islands from their private Japanese owner.Japan controls the uninhabited but resource-rich East China Sea islands, which are also claimed by Taiwan. The dispute has seriously marred diplomatic relations between China and Japan and threatens to damage the strong trading relationship, says the BBC's John Sudworth in Beijing. The row(争端) has also generated strong nationalist sentiment on both sides that observers say now makes it very difficult to be seen to be backing down, says our correspondent. The Japanese government says it is buying the islands to promote their stable and peaceful management. Its move followed a bid by right-wing Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara to buy the islands using public donations - an action that would likely have further provoked China.China, on the other hand, says the islands have historically been its territory and fishing grounds. Meanwhile Japan's newly-appointed ambassador to China, Shinichi Nishimiya, remains in hospital in Tokyo after he was found unconscious near his home in Tokyo on Thursday. No details have been given on his condition. He was appointed on Tuesday to replace Uichiro Niwa, who has been criticised for his handling of one of the worse diplomatic rows between Japan and China in recent years. 72.The Diaoyu Islands are actually inhabited by .
