课时作业 三十二 模块6 Unit 1 Laughter is good for you2‎ 建议时间 / 35分钟 ‎ ‎ Ⅰ.阅读理解 词数:341 主题:工作计时 文体:说明文 When it's five o'clock, people leave their office. The length of the workday, for many workers, is defined by time. They leave when the clock tells them they're done.‎ These days, the time is everywhere: not just on clocks or watches, but on cellphones and computers. That may be a bad thing, particularly at work. New research shows that clock-based work schedules hinder creativity. ‎ Clock-timers organize their day by blocks of minutes and hours. For example: a meeting from 9 am to 10 am, research from 10 am to noon, etc. On the other hand, task-timers have a list of things they want to accomplish. They work down the list—each task starts when the previous task is completed. It is said that all of us employ a mix of both these types of planning. ‎ What, then, are the effects of thinking about time in these different ways? Does one make us more productive? Better at the tasks at hand? Happier? In experiments conducted by Tamar Avnet and Anne-Laure Sellier, they had participants organize different activities—from project planning, holiday shopping, to yoga—by time or to-do list to measure how they performed under “clock time” vs “task time”. They found clock-timers to be more efficient(有效率的) but less happy because they felt little control over their lives. Task-timers are happier and more creative, but less productive. They tend to enjoy the moment when something good is happening, and seize opportunities that come up.‎ The researchers argue that task-based organizing tends to be undervalued and under-supported in the business culture. This might be a small change to the way we view work and the office, but the researchers argue that it challenges a widespread characteristic of the economy: work organized by clock time. While most people will still probably need, and be, to some extent, clock-timers, task-based timing should be used when performing a job that requires more creativity. It'll make those tasks easier, and the task-doers will be happier.‎ ‎1. In 1996, it was voted for the “best attraction in Europe”. However, this version of the Globe, completed in the mid-1990s with funds from the Shakespeare Globe Trust, is not the original Globe built in the 1500s.‎ During the 16th century, plays were popular entertainment among all kinds of people from wealthy nobles to the working class. 5 Actors performed in small hotels throughout the countryside and in London. James Burbage, an actor and painter, built the first public playhouse in England called The Theatre because it was the first ever built in London. Now the audience could come to the actors rather than the other way around. 6  ‎ When Burbage died, his sons Cuthbert and Richard, took over The Theatre. The land, however, on which the playhouse was built was not owned by Burbage. 7 The actors decided they would build their own theatre. They rented land near another theatre, The Rose, and used wood from The Theatre to build the first Globe Theatre. It was here that Shakespeare's famous plays were performed. 8 The actors' love for the Globe was so strong that when it burned down in 1613, they pooled their own money to rebuild it, making it even better than before with beautiful decorations and details adorning(装饰) the stage. 9  ‎ A.The Theatre was a huge success.‎ B.This theatre could hold several thousand people!‎ C.Queen Elizabeth I of England had a great love for plays.‎ D.When one enters the Globe Theatre ,one is in the greatest theatre.‎ E.A man named Giles Allen owned the land and didn't want to rent the land to them.‎ F.Success was immediate and the Globe Theatre was a favourite of audiences and actors alike.‎ G.Even though this version of the Globe Theatre didn't survive through the century, its influence lives on. ‎ Ⅲ.完形填空 词数: 338 主题:助人 文体:记叙文 About six years ago I was going through a tough time, trying to work two jobs to afford my rent.
