You call 911. The medical workers rush in and begin asking you questions as they work to rescue your child. But they also ask questions about your child’s medical history. It’s hard to think clearly. You begin to answer and then end up saying, “I don’t remember . I don’t know.”So many doctors suggest that parents keep handy a record of their children’s important healthy facts. This can often help the medical team make a better and more rapid diagnosis of a problem at a time when time really counts. ‎ The most important information to know is the child’s allergies(过敏). It is especially crucial if the child is allergies to any medicine---- penicine, for example. Food allergies can come into play,so make a note of those as well. Children who have been hospitalized in the past may have developed latex(胶乳) allergies. Often this information can help emergency workers find a cause for problems like breathing difficulties.‎ Keep a list of any medicine, including what your child is now taking. Some medicines can cause adverse reaction when they are taken together, so the doctors need this information before they give your child anything. You’ll need to know when the child took the medicine last and how much was taken. ‎ It is also important to tell emergency workers about any health problem or illness that your child has had. These pre—existing conditions can have a huge effect on the type of tests and treatment in an emergency. Consider having any child who has a health problem wear a tag around his neck. This kind of ‎ rapid notice can help doctors who are providing emergency care, especially if your child suddenly becomes ill at day care, school or a friend’s house. ‎ ‎21. What’s the function of the example in paragraph 1.?‎ ‎ A. To tell us what we should do in an emergency.]‎ ‎ B. To tell us the importance of keeping a record of children’s health facts ‎ C. To remind us emergent situation is everywhere.‎ ‎ D. To tell us what doctors will ask ‎22.How many types of allergies are mentioned in Paragraph 2 ?‎ A.One B. Two C. Three D. Four ‎ ‎23. The underlined word “crucial ”in Paragraph 2 probably means________.‎ ‎ A. essential B. professional C. convincing D. admirable ‎ ‎24. Doctors can make a rapid diagnosis of a problem with the help of knowing the following EXCEPT_________.‎ ‎ A. the medicine the child took last and the amount. ‎ ‎ B. if the child is allergic to any medicine ‎ C. if your child suddenly becomes ill at day care, school, or a friend’s house.‎ ‎ D. if your child has had any health problem or illness.‎ ‎ B Ivy League is the name generally applied to eight universities (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Yale) that over the years have had common interests in scholarship as well as in athletics. Stanley Woodward, New York Herald Tribune sports writer, coined the phrase in the early thirties.‎ In 1936 the undergraduate newspapers of these universities ran an editorial advocating(提倡)‎ the formation of an “Ivy League”, but the first move toward this end was not taken until 1945. In that year, the eight presidents entered into an agreement “for the purpose of their intention of continuing interuniversity(大学间的)football in such a way as to maintain the values of the game, while keeping it in fitting balance to the main purposes of academic life.” To achieve this aim two interuniversity ‎ committees were set up: one, made up primarily of the college deans, was to make rules of eligibility(资格); the other, composed of the athletic directors, was to set up policies on the length of the playing season and of practice before the season and related matters. Two other interuniversity committees on admission and financial aid were added later.‎ The first step toward organizing full league competition came in 1952 with the announcement that, beginning with the fall of 1953, each college would play every other college in the group at least once every five years.‎ Later, the Ivy Group established schedules in other sports, including some in existing leagues with non-Ivy members. In 1977, the Ivy League colleges competed in football, soccer, basketball, fencing(击剑)(except Brown and Dartmouth), ice hockey (except Columbia), squash(壁球)(except Brown, Columbia, and Cornell), swimming (except Columbia, but also Army and Navy), tennis (also Army and Navy), and wrestling (except Brown and Dartmouth).‎ ‎25.What may the eight universities care about first?[]‎ A.Scholarship and athletics. D.In the autumn of 1953.‎ ‎28.What can we learn from the last paragraph?‎ A.The colleges in the Ivy Group only play games among themselves.‎ B.The colleges in the Ivy Group are not famous.‎ C.The colleges in the Ivy Group can play games with non-Ivy members.‎ D.The Ivy Group becomes bigger and bigger.‎ C I was reading these intriguing stories behind great logos in the world. Personally Nike is my favorite one. It’s so simple, and I liked the story behind it, which made me forget all other things. McDonalds, Apple, Mercedes Benz, Adidas and KFC own great logos are among my favorites.‎ Nike In the Greek myth, Nike is the goddess of victory and the source of inspiration(灵感)for soldiers. This logo represents the wing in the famous statue of the Greek goddess. Nike’s logo was designed by Carolyn Davidson in 1971.‎ McDonald’s The logo was designed in 1962 to resemble the arch-shaped(拱形的)signs on the company’s hamburger stand. Later on, the two golden arches were combined together to form the M. The McDonald’s name was added to the logo in 1968.‎ Apple There are different stories behind Apple’s logo. The first logo is from the religious story of Adam and Eve, in which the apple represents the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. One year later, the second logo was designed in 1977 by Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne, and described Sir Isaac Newton sitting under an apple tree. This logo was replaced soon by Rob Janoff’s “rainbow Apple,” a rainbow-colored silhouette(轮廓)of an apple with a bite taken out of it. And then the rainbow-colored apple was replaced by the one-color logo in 1998. It has not been changed so far.‎ Mercedes Benz The Mercedes Benz logo, created by Gottlieb Daimler in 1909, was a three-pointed star, representing its rule of the land, the sea, and the air. The company was founded by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. Mercedes is the name of Maybach’s elder daughter, while Benz came from a combination with Benz and Cie Company in 1926.‎ Adidas The Adidas logo, created by the founder of the company Adi Dassler, represents mountains, pointing towards the challenges that are seen ahead and goals that can be achieved. The logo was first used on Adidas products in 1972.‎ ‎29.What does Nike’s logo stand for?‎ A.The goddess of victory. B.The source of inspiration for soldiers.‎ C.The statue of the Greek goddess. D.The wing of the Greek goddess.‎ ‎30.We can learn that the present idea of Apple’s logo comes from .‎ A.the religious story of Adam and Eve B.an apple with only one colour C.Newton’s sitting under an apple tree D.the rainbow-colored bitten apple ‎31.Which of the following time orders describes the births of great logos?‎ A.Mercedes Benz-McDonald’s-Nike-Adidas-Apple.‎ B.Nike-McDonald’s-Apple-Mercedes Benz-Adidas.‎ C.McDonald’s-Apple-Nike-Mercedes Benz-Adidas.‎ D.Nike-Mercedes Benz-Adidas-McDonald’s-Apple.‎ ‎32.What may the author talk about next?‎ A.The Mercedes Benz’s development. B.The Adidas logo’s designer.‎ C.KFC’s logo. D.Steve Jobs’ life.‎ D There are now about 376 million people who speak English as their first language and about the same number who have learnt it in addition to their mother tongue. They are said to be one million people learning English now and about 80% of the information on the Internet is in English.‎ Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Should we celebrate the fact that more and more of us can communicate, using a common language, across countries and cultures? Or should we worry about dangers of “non-culturalism”, a world in which we all speak the same language, eat the same food and listen to the same music?‎ Does it matter if an increasing number of people speak the same language? Not necessarily, I have never agreed that if only we all understood each other better, there would be fewer wars. Ask the people of India, where many of them speak at least some English, and Pakistan, the same situation with India.‎ If we all speak English, will we then all start eating McDonald’s burgers? Surely not. If English becomes more dominant(控制), will it kill other languages? I doubt it. When I travel in Africa or Asia, I am always surprised by how many people can speak not only their own language but often one or more other related languages, as well as English and perhaps more French or German as well.‎ When we discussed this on Talking Point a couple of years ago, we received a wonderfully poetic e-mail from a listener in Ireland. “The English language is a beautiful language. Maybe it’s like a rose. ” he said. “But who would ever want their garden just full of roses? ”‎ Well, I love rose and I think they make a beautiful addition to any garden. But the way I see it, just by planting a few roses, you don’t necessarily need to pull out everything else. If more and more people want to plant English roses, that’ll be fine by me.‎ ‎33.By saying the underline sentence in Paragraph 3, the author is trying to show that .‎ A.speaking the same language doesn’t necessarily bring peace B.wars can destroy the relationship between two countries C.English doesn’t kill other languages D.English is widely used in the world ‎34.What does “rose” in the last paragraph stand for?‎ A.The world. B.A kind of flower.‎ C.A language. D.The earth.‎ ‎35.The author would probably agree that .‎ A.it’s very hard to plant many kinds of flowers in a garden B.it’s all right for people from other countries to learn English C.more and more people like to plant roses in their gardens D.English is easier to learn than other languages 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ ‎10 years ago, I met my closet friend. It took him a while to fully grow on me at first, but he would become a constant companion before I was 16. He was there when I got my driver’s license, he was with me when I graduated high school and he stood with me on my wedding day. 36 ‎ Over the past decade, my beard and I have become inseparable. The last time I had put a razor(剃刀)to my face was five years ago. That all changed on Saturday, though.‎ I had been wondering what I would look like without my full beard for quite some time now, and Halloween provided me with the best reason to find out. It is strange to feel my upper lip for the first time since last century. The air is colder, water is wetter and I no longer have a “flavor saver” for my food. 37 ‎ ‎ 38 I lay awake in bed for hours, eyes open wide, replaying the memory of watching thousands of hairs swirling(旋转)around the dirty river. When I actually do get to sleep, a reoccurring nightmare of my vengeful(报复的)beard flying in through my bedroom window visits me regularly. It ‎ knows what I did, and my conscience won’t let me forget.‎ ‎ 39 Also, my neighbors can hear me singing Michael Bolton’s “How Could I Ever Live without You” through heavy sobbing. I never told him how much I appreciated him or praised his comfortable appearance. The time spent together was too short and too unappreciated. It’s true what they say, you never know what you have until it’s gone. I now finally understand what “Tuesdays with Morrie” is all about.‎ Thankfully No Shave November starts in less than a week. 40 Take some extra time today to tell your friends you love them and don’t wash them down the bathroom sink.‎ A.I took my friend for granted, and now he is gone by my own doing.‎ B.I loved my friend and decided to live with him for ever.‎ C.I can’t stop playing Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”.‎ D.Of course, the friend I speak of is my facial hair.‎ E.Sleeping has been terrible.‎ F.I has had a sound sleep and dreamed that my friend is very happy.‎ G.I can only hope that you, faithful reader, can learn from my mistake.‎ 第三节 英语知识运用(共两节,满分分45分)‎ 第一节;完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ 阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,然后从41~60各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。‎ I recently attended a going-away party for my friend Kim Ellen, who is leaving Michigan.‎ Her 41 is a good one, as moving stories 42 .
