2020年高二英语下学期期末考前练习卷(五)
2020 年高二英语下学期期末考前练习卷 1、阅读理解 Banff National Park is Canada's first national park. In 1883, on the Canadian Rocky Mountains, three railway workers discovered a natural hot spring, and from there the park was born. Nowadays, it is one of the world's popular tourist spots with great mountain scenery. Every year, millions of people visit it for its wonderful views. Banff National Park is part of UNESCO's Canadian Rocky Mountain World Heritage site. Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the park has perfect mountains like those on postcards. They are from 45 to 120 million years old, with the highest in the park, Mount Forbes, coming in at 11,850 feet. Banff National Park is 80 miles west of Calgary. Calgary's international airport is serviced by major national and international carriers with many flights arriving daily. Open yearround, it offers amazing wildlife viewing and sightseeing, plus many shopping and dining choices, any time of the year. Summer is popular for hiking, mountain biking and cycling, photography, and climbing. The best time for viewing the seasonal color is fall, when the trees turn yellow. In winter, the mountain makes exciting downhill (速降) and crosscountry skiing. In fact, three major downhill ski resorts (度假胜地) operate within the park. Lake Louise Ski Resort, Sunshine Village, and Mount Norquay combine to offer a large area for skiing, not to mention the backcountry trails available throughout the park. The ski season, which runs from November to May, is one of the longest in North America. Visitors can also enjoy wildlife tours, ice walks, and dogsleds (雪橇). Weather in the Canadian Rockies can change quickly. A single day can have a mix of sunshine, snow, wind, and rain, so you should change your clothes. In summer, temperatures average a high of 70 (21 ℃), and daylight lasts until 11 p. m. Autumn brings cool nights and fresh air. Winters can be very cold. In January, the average temperature is 7 ℃ below zero, but by April it is 9 ℃. (1)What can we know about Banff National Park? A.We can arrive there only by foot. (2)What can we learn about Canadian Rockies from the last paragraph? A.Visitors there may change clothes a few times a day. B.There are few visitors because of terrible weather. B The sun was setting and the farm would be closing soon. I dressed our three daughters quickly as my husband started the car. Cutting down our own Christmas tree had been a family tradition. As we walked through the rows of trees, my youngest daughter Kimberly shouted excitedly, "There it is, the perfect tree!" The other two agreed. My husband and I looked at each other puzzled (困惑的). It was misshapen and pine needles (松针) were missing here and there. We tried to talk our daughters into changing their minds, but failed. We had to tie the tree to the top of our car and headed home. As we reached our house, Heather jumped out first. Suddenly she shouted, "The tree isn't there!" We thought she was kidding. However, it wasn't there. The girls were so sad. "We'll get another tree tomorrow," I said, secretly hoping the new tree would be prettier. But the girls gave us the look that no parent can say no to. We had no choice but to go back and find that tree. About five minutes into our drive, we saw our tree on the side of the road. Clearly it had been run over by a truck and a big part of it had fallen off, but we took our little broken tree home anyway. Once at home, we all agreed that the flat broken side would go up against the wall. That night, as we decorated our tree, something magical happened. By the time we were done, I had to admit (承认), it didn't look sad after all. "This is the best tree we ever had. It's perfect!" my second daughter Samantha said excitedly. My husband and I couldn't have agreed more! Now we always recall that little broken tree! Year by year, we tell the story of that very special Christmas almost twentyfive years ago. (1)Why did the couple feel puzzled at first? A.Their daughters chose an ugly tree. B.Their daughters made a terrible mistake. C.Their daughters wouldn't change their minds. D.Their daughters didn't want to find other trees. (2)How did the author feel when she knew the tree was missing? A.Sad. B.Worried. C.Surprised. D.Pleased. (3)What do we know about that night when the author's family decorated their tree? A.They did magic for fun. B.They took turns telling stories. C.They turned the tree into an unforgettable one. D.They argued over how the tree should be decorated. (4)What is the best title of this text? A.A special Christmas gift B.A sad little tree C.Decorating the perfect tree D.Following a family tradition C Everyone has probably seen a movie or two about robots going against man. As a kid it was interesting, but not a reality. But today, when we look at how far scientists have come, it’s not just a funny thought but a real possibility. Honda has already created a robot with eyes, legs, arms and hands and it can act just like a person. There is no end to what a robot could do in the future. Just think what we can do in twenty to thirty years. We’re dealing with almost an entire new species (种类) of human-like robots that could be cleverer than us. Can we continue to use these robots in a way that they serve us, or will they become so wise that they will want independence (独立)? I am really not sure just how far scientists are going to perfect robots. But once this type of robot is made, they will be able to think, make decisions, sense the movement of others and decide what it wants to do. A new invention has led to the introduction of a female robot, which was introduced at an entertainment show in Vegas. The robot called Roxy sells for between seven and ten thousand dollars. It is built to accompany (陪伴) females. This female (女性的) robot companion is called true companion and you can find such robots on the Internet. Robots used to have limited uses, but now they are almost in every field. This has opened the door to many dangerous possibilities in the future. (1)Why does the writer mention movies about robots? A.To prove robots can go against man. B.To lead to the topic of the passage. C.To show that robots are liked by film makers. D.To show that people are interested in robots. (2)What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 2 suggest? A.There is an end to the development of robots. B.Robots will look exactly like human beings soon. C.Robots may be able to do anything in the future. D.Human beings don’t know what kind of robot they want. (3)According to the writer,a perfect robot____________. A.can think as human beings do B.will always serve human beings C.is still not as clever as human beings D.will surely go against human beings (4)It is implied in the passage that the writer worries that____________. A.human beings cannot create a perfect robot B.robots may be harmful in the future C.robots may be hard to recognize D.robots have limited uses D Traveling without a map in different countries, I find out about different ways of directions every time I ask “How can I get to the post office?” Foreign tourists are often puzzled in Japan because most streets there don't have name signs. In Japan, people use landmarks (地标) in their directions instead of street names. For example, the Japanese will say to travelers, “Go straight down to the corner. Turn left at the big hotel and go past a fruit market. The post office is across from the bus stop.” People in Los Angeles, the US, have no idea of distance on the map: they measure distance by time, not miles. “How far away is the post office?” you ask. “Oh,” they answer, “it's about five minutes from here.” You don't understand completely, “Yes, but how many miles away is it, please?” To this question you won't get an answer, because most probably they don't know it themselves. People in Greece sometimes do not even try to give directions because tourists seldom understand the Greek language. Instead, a Greek will often say, “Follow me.” Then he'll lead you through the streets of the city to the post office. Sometimes a person doesn't know the answer to your question. What happens in the situation? A New Yorker might say, “Sorry, I have no idea.” But in Yucatan, Mexico, no one answers “I don't know.” People there believe that “I don't” is impolite. They usually give an answer, but often a wrong one. So a tourist can get lost very easily in Yucatan! However, one thing will help you everywhere in the world. It's body language. (1)Which of the following is probably an example of Japanese directions? A.“The post office is at Street Kamira.” B.“Turn right at the hospital and go past a school.” C.“The post office is about five minutes from here.” D.“Go south two miles. Turn west and then go another mile.” (2)Why don't people in Los Angeles give directions in miles? A.They prefer to lead you the way. B.They prefer to use body language. C.They often have no idea of distance measured by miles. D.They use landmarks in their directions instead of distance. (3)How do Greeks give directions? A.Using street names. B.Using landmarks. C.Leading people the way. D.Giving people a wrong direction. (4)According to the last paragraph, we can learn that_____________________. A.people in Yucatan always give wrong directions B.people in Mexico know streets' name well C.body language makes you get lost in Yucatan D.people in Mexico prefer to use body language 第二节(共 5 小题,每小题 2 分,共 10 分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂 黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Kids and food: advice for parents It is important for parents to know how to help their kids eat healthily.
