2019届高考英语新人教版二轮复习模拟优化练:(9)
模拟组合练(九) Ⅰ.阅读理解 A (2018河北衡水中学十模,C) One form of social prejudice against older people is the belief that they cannot understand or use modern technologies. Activities like playing computer games, going on the Net and downloading MP3s are only for the youngsters. Isn’t it unfair that older people enjoying a computer game should be frowned(皱眉)upon by their children and grandchildren? Nowadays older people have more control over their lives and they play a full part in society. Moreover, better health care has left more people in their sixties and seventies feeling fit and active after retirement. Mental activity, as well as physical exercise, can contribute to better health. Playing computer games is a very effective way of exercising the brain. When personal computers were first introduced, most older people didn’t believe they would ever familiarize themselves with them. Now computers have been around for a few generations and retired people have gradually become more relaxed about using them for fun. Gamers over 65 prefer playing puzzle games and card games. Kate Stevens, aged 72, says, “I find it very relaxing. It’s not very demanding, but you still need to concentrate.” Another development that has favored “grey gamers” is a change in the type of video games available on the market. There’s a greater variety of games to choose from, including more intellectual and complex strategy(策略)and simulation(模拟)games. Internet Chess and Train Simulator are among the most popular of these. Train Simulator is based on real-world rail activities. Players can choose from a variety of challengers, such as keeping to a strict timetable and using helper engines during a winter storm. Some people argue that “grey gamers” simply don’t have the skills required for computer games, and that teenagers are better. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Most computer games require the kind of analytical thinking that improves with practice, which means that the “grey gamers” may well be far better than gamers half a century younger than them. In games where speed is the main consideration, older people would be at a disadvantage because they may have slower reaction time. On the other hand, “grey gamers” have a preference for slower paced, mind challenging games. 1.The second paragraph is intended to . A.show the best way to exercise the brain B.stress the importance of good health C.explain why “grey gamers” exist D.teach how to play video games 2.What was older people’s attitude towards personal computers at first? A.Doubtful. B.Concerned. C.Enthusiastic. D.Supportive. 3.The method the author uses to develop Paragraph 4 is . A.offering analyses B.giving examples C.making comparisons D.providing details 4.By saying “This couldn’t be further from the truth.” in Paragraph 5, the author means . A.mind challenging games are not suitable for older people B.children should improve their skills with practice C.playing computer games requires analytical thinking D.older people can perform well in some computer games B (2017湖南浏阳一中模拟) When I first started university, I remembered hearing about bone marrow(骨髓)donation during Freshman’s Week. Some student volunteers from a group called Marrow tried to convince me to attend an event so I could learn more about it. The word “bone” immediately made me think that donating would be a painful procedure, so I refused. Back then, there was no way I could have known three years later, I would be one of the many people that desperately needs a bone marrow donor to save their lives. I am currently waiting to be matched with a donor and if I am lucky enough to find a good match, it will be this lovely stranger that saves my life. I received my cancer diagnosis in June. It is only at that time that I realized how ignorant I had been about the bone marrow donation process. The process of donating stem cells is actually very simple. In 90% of cases, donors are asked to donate their blood stem cells, the other 10% will give their bone marrow. Lots of donors say that both these things are virtually pain free, and nothing to be scared about. Being a bone marrow donor should be something to be proud of, as every donor has an opportunity to save someone’s life! At the moment I know that the doctors are busy searching for a match, I simply live every day in the hope that there will be a donor right for me. If I have an opportunity for life, I won’t waste it. When I was a freshman at university, I made the mistake of walking away from becoming a stem cell donor. Please don’t make the same mistake as I did. There are so many people out there, including me, that need your help. And by undergoing a simple, pain-free procedure, you could have the chance to proudly say that you saved someone’s life. 5.Why did the author refuse to learn more about bone marrow donation before? A.Because she could get nothing from it. B.Because she thought that donating would be painful. C.Because she had known nothing about it. D.Because she was in poor health. 6.What can we learn from the underlined sentence in Paragraph 1? A.The author was concerned about others. B.The author was confident about the bone marrow donation. C.The author needs the bone marrow donation now. D.The author donates her bone marrow to save others. 7.The author needs the bone marrow because she got . A.cancer B.a headache C.flu D.high blood pressure 8.The author tells us her story to . A.show us the experience of her college life B.explain the cause of her cancer C.recall her painful past D.encourage people to be a bone marrow donor Ⅱ.语法填空 (2018黑龙江哈六中二模) There was once a guy who suffered from cancer, which couldn’t be cured. One day she asked for a Chinese character “美” on me notebook, “What does this mean?” I told her it meant “beauty”. She continued, “How it structured?”Suddenly, I was sticking. Then I searched on the Internet. The character comes in two part—lamb and big. The lamb in the agricultural days of ancient China meant not only a good meal but also a gift of beauty from the nature.
