‎2019版一轮复习外研版必修一Module2My New Teachers单元学案 Ⅰ.阅读理解 A If I asked you to name your favorite teachers from kindergarten through graduate school, it would be easy to answer, wouldn't it? It would also be an enjoyable question to answer because it would bring back so many good memories of wonderful people who've touched both your personal life and your professional life. You would be thinking about people who not only taught you things of value, but inspired you as well. Quite possibly they inspired you to become a teacher.‎ My classmates and I were asked this question on my first day in the teaching credential (证书) program at the University of San Francisco many years ago. I thought of Sister Mary Anne, who taught me in elementary school. I thought of Mrs. Padgett and Mrs. Kofford, English teachers, in high school. I thought of Dr. Lincoln and Dr. Campbell, history professors, who taught me in college. Then came this question. “What do they all have in common?” asked Dr. McSweeney. I stood up and said, “They all love what they are doing. They have great enthusiasm for teaching.” All of my classmates nodded their heads in agreement. ‎ That was apparently the answer Dr. McSweeney expected. He said, “I ask that question every year, and I always get the same answer.” He went on to explain that he opened with that question because it got future teachers to think about what separates the great teachers from the notsogreat. He said, “We all remember our favorite teachers — the ones who had passion (激情) and enthusiasm, the ones who loved and enjoyed what they were doing. We want each of you to become that kind of teacher. Always remember those special teachers.” It's a statement I never forgot once during my thirtyfive years in the classroom.‎ 语篇解读:谁是你最喜爱的老师?在你的求学生涯中,你喜爱的老师有什么共同的品质?他们对你的一生有什么影响?阅读此文,你会想到谁是你最喜爱的老师吗?‎ ‎1.According to the passage, an excellent teacher should have ________.‎ A.a sense of humor B.a wide range of knowledge C.passion and enthusiasm D.good health 解析:选C 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“They all love what they are doing. They were always asking questions about my lessons and I would repeat everything for them.” ‎ ‎“There used to be just eight pupils, and my friends helped me with the teaching. We worked on the standard of teaching. The word spread to nearby villages, and gradually we took on more and more students.”‎ Five years later, the school has a total of 10 teachers, all of whom are students at school, and 650 pupils.‎ On a typical day, Babar will rise at 5 am, do housework, then take a bus to school in a village three miles away. From 10 am to 4 pm, he focuses on his own studies, then he races back to his village to welcome his students at 5 pm. He teaches until 8 pm. The teaching doesn't make him tired, he says, but gives him more strength to keep up his busy life.‎ His parents are filled with pride. His father, Nasiruddin, was shocked when he first discovered his son was teaching. “I couldn't believe it. He's always rushing from place to place and I was worried it might affect his studies. So I visited his school. Seeing his dedication (奉献) to teaching cleared my doubts,” he says.‎ In 2009, Babar was named the “youngest headmaster in the world” by BBC.
