Module 1 Our Body and Healthy Habits Ⅰ.阅读理解 A [2020·贵阳市高三摸底考试] Alabama: Priester's Pecans Dessert in the South basically starts and ends with a gooey pecan pie, especially in Alabama, where the pecan is the official state nut. While there are plenty of farms that pick and package pecans, perhaps the most famous is Priester's, a familyrun business that has been supplying Alabama with its favorite nuts for over seven decades. Alaska: Salmon Jerky Forget beef jerky(肉干) — in Alaska, it's all about the salmon jerky. Home to five different species of the flavorful fish (king, red, pink, silver, and chum), the northernmost state produces nearly onethird of the wild salmon consumed around the world. Bonus: Salmon is one of the seven healthiest fish you can eat. Arizona: Saguaro Cactuses As the largest cactus(仙人掌) in the United States, the saguaro cactus is found only in Arizona's Sonoran Desert. Living to be up to 200 years old, the cactuses, whose flower is also the state's flower, are generally around 30 feet tall and can grow unlimited arms. Want to see for yourself? Visit one of these 10 outstanding deserts in America. California: The Wine Guide It isn't called the “Wine Country” for no reason. Northern California, specifically Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley, produces over 60,000 registered wine labels, making vino the state's most valuable agricultural product. If you're looking for the most popular varietals(品种葡萄酒), the top two frequently planted grapes are Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. 1.How long has the Priester's farm lasted? A.Over 7 years. B.Over 30 years. C.Over 70 years. D.Over 200 years. 2.Which state is famous for salmon? A.Alaska. B.Arizona. C.Alabama. D.California. 3.Where does the text probably come from? A.A library guide. B.A news report. - 8 - C.A project handbook. D.A travel guide. B [甘肃省2019届第一次高考诊断]Many Westerners have the idea that everyone in China knows how to do kung fu. This is, of course, a_silly_belief. But it is true that kung fu is a big part of Chinese culture. Like most people from the West, I was first introduced to kung fu through Hong Kong action films. Stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan made kung fu popular in the Western world. The flashy and impressive performances they gave in films like Rumble in the Bronx and Enter the Dragon made them household names in the U. S. and elsewhere. However, my own personal interest in kung fu was actually inspired by a hip hop group. WuTang Clan, founded in the early 1990s in New York City, is one of the most influential hip hop groups in history. In their songs, they sometimes mention philosophical concepts that come from Wudang quan—a classic Chinese martial art from which they take their name—and Shaolin Temple. I was just a teenager when I first started listening to WuTang Clan—little did I know that I would actually end up living in China later in my life! I myself do not practice kung fu. However, the concepts behind it are quite interesting to me. There is a Bruce Lee quote that I often think of when I'm struggling with challenges in life. “Be formless, shapeless, like water,” he once said. By this, he meant that you should be ready to adapt to and change your attitudes or beliefs when you face difficulties. I think this is a good way to deal with life. 4.What does “a silly belief” in Paragraph 1 refer to? A.All Chinese people can do kung fu. B.China is most famous for its kung fu. C.Kung fu is a big part of Chinese culture. D.Many Westerners admire kung fu. 5.What inspired the author's interest in kung fu? A.Hong Kong action movies. B.A TV program about kung fu. C.Kung fu stars in Hollywood. D.A US hip hop group. 6.What do we know about the WuTang Clan? A.They have Chinese culture in their songs. - 8 - B.They taught the author how to do Wudang quan. C.They performed Chinese martial arts in the U. S. D.They showed the author the way to live in China. 7.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.The author was sorry that he couldn't do kung fu. B.The concepts of kung fu change over time. C.The spirit of kung fu helps the author overcome difficulties. D.Bruce Lee was the most popular martial arts master. C [2020·兰州市高三诊断考试]In the past decade, the use of social media has grown in a way that no one could have guessed. It has turned some teenagers into celebrities and turned the famous into the infamous, overnight. A key feature of social media, however, is its volatility. Trends come and go, disappearing almost as quickly as they appeared. So, what were the key social media trends of 2018? Short video apps such as TikTok and its Chinese equivalent(等同物) Douyin, took the world by storm. The Telegraph reported that TikTok was ranked 8th on Apple's App store in April. And Douyin had more than 300 million domestic monthly active users in June at home, CNBC said. Why are these short videos — which are rarely longer than a few minutes — so popular? Jiang Yige, Singaporebased analyst at FengHe Fund Management, has a theory. “Short videos are just right to fill in the little gaps in our busy schedules,” he told CNBC. These videos — apart from being very convenient — are important to teenagers because they allow them to express themselves, according to Teen Vogue. Liza Koshy, a user of the US app Musically who has over 2 million followers, said, “The sense of community that users of short video apps get is another appealing feature.” Live streaming(直播) is a feature of our social media life that now seems as natural as sunrise. It's a pretty neat idea: You can watch anyone, anywhere, live. However, China has taken live streaming to a whole new level. In China, more than 100 million viewers monthly watch a live streaming video. Forbes thought that a number of factors had led to the popularity of live streams. Among them is viewers' ability to interact with unknown names. - 8 - However, the quick development of social media may be having side effects too. Fake news is one serious problem it causes. Materials shared on these platforms are often not checked for accuracy. The most basic content can be false and can mislead users one way or another. We use social media all the time, that doesn't mean that we understand the influence it is having on us. We should be mindful of both the time we spend on it and its impact on our minds. 8.The underlined word “volatility” in Paragraph 2 possibly means “being ”________. A.changeable B.steady C.promising D.violent 9.According to Liza Koshy, short videos are very popular because ________. A.they are very convenient B.they help people kill time C.they provide a sense of community D.they allow people to express themselves 10.What do we know about social media? A.The information from social media is totally reliable. B.When it comes to social media, people only know short videos. C.People can't communicate with each other without social media. D.There is still much room for social media to make improvement. 11.What is the author's attitude to the quick development of social media? A.Objective. B.Subjective. C.Favorable. D.Disapproving. (Para. 句中“While there are plenty of farms that pick and package pecans”为while引导的让步状语从句,其中“that pick and package pecans”为that引导的定语从句,修饰先行词farms;主句为“perhaps the most famous is Priester's”, “a familyrun business...for over seven decades”作Priester's的同位语,其中“that has been...for over seven decades”为that引导的定语从句,先行词为a familyrun business。 根据第一段尾句中的“Priester's, a familyrun business... for over seven decades”可知,Priester农场有70多年的历史,故C项正确。 根据题干中的关键词“salmon”定位至Alaska: Salmon Jerky部分,根据该部分第一句“Forget beef jerky(肉干)—in Alaska, it's all about the salmon jerky”可知,阿拉斯加州以鲑鱼而闻名,故A项正确。 根据第一段中的“Many Westerners have the idea that everyone in China knows how to do kung fu. This is, of course, a silly belief.” In the past decade, the use of social media has grown in a way that no one could have guessed. 句中“that no one could have guessed”为that引导的定语从句,修饰先行词a way。 根据第二段第二句“Trends come and go, disappearing almost as quickly as they appeared”可知,潮流更迭很快,由此可推知,社交媒体的一个主要特点就是其多变性,故A项正确。 根据第六段中的“The sense of community that users of short video apps get is another appealing feature”可知,根据Liza Koshy,短视频受欢迎的原因在于它们能让用户获得一种社区意识,故选C。 根据第八段第一句“However, the quick development of social media may be having side effects too”可知,社交媒体的迅速发展带来了一些负面影响,由此可推知,社交媒体还有需要改进的地方,故选D。 2.B 根据空后的“because the bicycles are spread out and are not likely to run into each other”可知,由于自行车是分散的,不太可能互相碰撞;故对于新手来说这种比赛是安全的,故B项正确。 且F项中的“the city blocks”与该段中的“A few city blocks”呼应。
