2019届二轮复习阅读理解专题七选五类型模拟试题10篇训练之二十 [一] If you are already making the time to exercise, it is good indeed! With such busy lives, it can be hard to try and find the time to work out.1 Working out in the morning provides additional benefits beyond being physically fit. ●Your productivity is improved. Exercising makes you more awake and ready to handle whatever is ahead of you for the day.2 ●Your metabolism(新陈代谢) gets a head start.3 If you work out in the mornings, then you will be getting the calorie(卡路里) burning benefits for the whole day, not in your sleep. ●4 Studies found that people who woke up early for exercise slept better than those who exercised in the evening. Exercise energizes you, so it is more difficult to relax and have a peaceful sleep when you are very excited. ●5 If you work out bright and early in the morning, you will be more likely to stick to healthy food choices throughout the day. Who would want to ruin their good workout by eating junk food? You will want to continue to focus on positive choices. There are a lot of benefits to working out, especially in the mornings. Set your alarm clock an hour early and push yourself to work out! You will feel energized all day long. A. You will stick to your diet. B. Your quality of sleep improves. C. You prefer healthy food to fast food. D. There is no reason you should exercise in the morning. E. You can keep your head clear for 4-10 hours after exercise. F. After you exercise, you continue to burn calories throughout the day. G. If you are planning to do exercise regularly, or you’re doing it now, then listen up! 根据下文的“Working out in the morning provides additional benefits beyond being physically fit.” 根据本段开头提到的“Your metabolism(新陈代谢) gets a head start.” [二] Lots of people find it hard to get up in the morning, and put the blame on the alarm clock. In fact, the key to easy morning wake-up lies in resetting your body clock.1 Here’s how to make one. ● 2 In order to make a change, you need to decide why it’s important. Do you want to get up in time to have breakfast with your family, get in some exercise, or just be better prepared for your day? Once you are clear about your reasons, tell your family or roommates about the change you want to make. ● Rethink mornings. Now that you know why you want to wake up, consider re-arranging your morning activities. If you want time to have breakfast with your family, save some time the night before by setting out clothes, shoes, and bags.3 That’s a quarter-hour more you could be sleeping if you bought a coffee maker with a timer. ● Keep your sleep/wake schedule on weekends. If you’re tired out by Friday night, sleeping in on Saturday could sound wonderful. But compensating on the weekends actually feeds into your sleepiness the following week, a recent study found.4 ● Keep a record and evaluate it weekly. Keep track of your efforts and write down how you feel. After you’ve tried a new method for a week, take a look at your record.5 If not, take another look at other methods you could try. A. Get a sleep specialist. B. Find the right motivation. C.A better plan for sleep can help. D. And consider setting a second alarm. E. If the steps you take are working, keep it up. F. Stick to your set bedtime and wake-up time, no matter the day. G. Reconsider the 15 minutes you spend in line at the cafe to get coffee. 承上启下,根据下文“Here is how to make one.” one相当于上文的a better place。 根据下文“That’s a quarter-hour more you could be sleeping if you bought a coffee maker with a timer.” 根据下文“If not, take another look at other methods you could try.” [三] How to Remember What You Read Reading is important. But the next step is making sure that you remember what you’ve read!1 You may have just read the text, but the ideas, concepts and images(形象)may fly right out of your head. Here are a few tricks for remembering what you read. ●2 If the plot, characters, or word usage is confusing for you, you likely won’t be able to remember what you read. It’s a bit like reading a foreign language. If you don’t understand what you’re reading, how would you remember it? But there are a few things you can do...Use a dictionary; look up the difficult words. ●Are you connected? Does a character remind you of a friend? Does the setting make you want to visit the place? Does the book inspire you, and make you want to read more? With some books, you may feel a connection right away.3 How willing are you to make the connections happen? ●Read it; hear it; be it! Read the lines. Then, speak them out loud. And, put some characters into the words. When he was writing his novels, Charles Dickens would act out the parts of the characters. He’d make faces in the mirror, and change his voice for each character.4 ●How often do you read? If you read frequently, you’ll likely have an easier time with remembering what you’re reading(and what you’ve read).5 As you make reading a regular part of your life, you’ll make more connections, stay more focused and understand the text better. You’ll learn to enjoy literature—as you remember what you read! A. Are you confused? B. Practice makes perfect. C. What’s your motivation? D. Memory is sometimes a tricky thing. E. Marking helps you remember what you read. F. But other books require a bit more work on your part. G. You can do the same thing when you are reading the text! 此处表示转折,而且前面用some books,后面必定有other之类的与之对应的词,而F项“But other books require a bit more work on your part.” [四] A garden that’s just right for you Have you ever visited a garden that seemed just right for you, where the atmosphere of the garden appeared to total more than the sum(总和) of its parts?1 .But it doesn’t happen by accident. It starts with looking inside yourself and understanding who you are with respect to the natural world and how you approach the gardening process. ●2 Some people may think that a garden is no more than plants, flowers, patterns and masses of color. Others are concerned about using gardening methods that require less water and fewer fertilizers(肥料).3 .However, there are a number of other reasons that might explain why you want to garden. One of them comes from our earliest years. ●Recall(回忆) your childhood memories Our model of what a garden should be often goes back to childhood. Grandma’s rose garden and Dad’s vegetable garden might be good or bad, but that’s not what’s important.4 -how being in those gardens made us feel. If you’d like to build a powerful bond with your garden, start by taking some time to recall the gardens of your youth.5 .Then go outside and work out a plan to translate your childhood memories into your grown-up garden. Have fun. A. Know why you garden B. Find a good place for your own garden C. It’s our experience of the garden that matters D. It’s delightful to see so many beautiful flowers E. Still others may simply enjoy being outdoors and close to plants F. You can produce that kind of magical quality in your own garden, too G. For each of those gardens, write down the strongest memory you have 【语篇导读】搭建属于自己的花园,亲近自然,体验种植的快乐,重温童年时代美好的记忆。 1.F此句为过渡句,承上启下,根据下文的“But it doesn’t happen by accident.” 2.A此处为标题句,首先形式上要与第二个标题“Recall(回忆) your childhood memories”相一致,因此答案在A与B两项之间选择,根据后面“However, there are a number of other reasons...” 根据开头提及的“Some people may think...” 承接前一句“...but that’s not what’s important.” 根据前一句中“...recall the gardens of your youth...”,回忆自己儿时的花园,以及下文“...work out a plan to translate your childhood memories into your grown-up garden.” [五] Both men and women are living longer these days in industrialized countries.1 In general, they can expect to live six or seven years more than men. One reason for this is biological. One important biological factor that helps women live longer is the difference in hormones between men and women.2 Between the ages of about 12 and 50,women produce hormones that are involved in fertility(生育能力).These hormones also have a positive effect on the heart and the blood flow. In fact, women are less likely to have high blood pressure or to die from heart attacks. 3 They help the body defend itself against some kinds of infections. This means that women generally get sick less often and less seriously than men. The common cold is a good example: women, on average, get fewer colds than men. 4 Scientists are still not exactly sure how genes influence aging, but they believe that they do. Some think that a woman’s body cells have a tendency(倾向) to age more slowly than a man’s. Others think that a man’s body cells have a tendency to age more quickly.5 A. However, women, on average, live longer. B. The biological factor plays an important part. C. Women are also helped by their female genes. D. The female hormones also protect the body in another way. E. Recent research seems to support both of these possibilities. F. Therefore, women are more healthy than men and can live a better life. G. Hormones are chemicals which are produced by the body to control various body functions. 5.E根据上文的“Some think that...”和“Others think that...” [六] The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “If you are depresses you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future.1 After centuries, this statement is still true. People are filled with anxiety, as they struggle to make a living or to keep up with society’s standards.2 They are stressed because of what awaits, yet ignoring what they must do at the moment to establish a better future for themselves. Sadly, nearly one in 33 children and one in eight adolescents have clinical depression. In my view, the encouragement of unhealthy competition and perfectionism has led to his problem. 3 From an early age, my parents taught me to settle for nothing less than an A on my tests and papers. I was persuaded that my grades would determine my worth. Therefore, I denied all my friends’ invitations to their parties and practiced math over the weekend. I was embarrassed at the sight of a low A and felt pressured to keep an outward image of perfection. One day, my friend Neha said,“4 You’re president of the orchestra, an All-State violist(中提琴演奏者),an amazing tennis player, a straight A student, I mean, you’re perfect.” I smiled at Neha, though I knew that I wasn’t really perfect.5 Preoccupied with viola, tennis, and keeping my high grades, I hadn’t given enough attention to my health. I didn’t experience depression or anxiety during this time, but I wanted to lie on the grass, on a summer day just watching the clouds move and to walk by the shore, watching the waves lap the sand. I wanted to live in the present. A. Michele, I wish I were you. B.I avoided pleasures and studied hard. C. On the inside, I was stressed and anxious. D. Anxiety problems affect one in eight children. E. If you are at peace you are living in the present. F. Certainly, I have experienced both the guilt and anxiety that Lao Tzu described. G. They regret their past decisions, though they cannot change what has already occurred. 1.E根据上文提到的“If you are depresses you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future.” 3.F根据下文“From an early age, my parents taught me...” [七] Summer is the perfect time to relax. As you plan for your trip, here are some tips on how to protect yourself.1 Fight against the mosquitoes in the hot spots. There are many mosquito-borne illnesses in tropical regions, which are traditionally vacation hot spots. Therefore, mosquito repellent(驱蚊剂)that contains deet should be an essential item in your travel bag. 2 In less developed countries there is less equipment for clean water and public health. If you can’t avoid unhealthful water, make sure you bring along a tea or coffee-making pot that will boil water for you. You’d better buy a case or two of water and check that all bottle caps are sealed to assure the bottled water isn’t just a refilled bottle of dirty tap water. Always protect your feet. It’s best to wear slippers in the shower, but if you must be barefoot, put a towel down on the floor.3 You should never walk barefoot in any area of a foreign country, including your hotel room. Be sure to eat safe fruits. 4 They may have been washed in the same water, or wiped with the same rag used to clean work surfaces in kitchens. The best advice is to bring your own peeler(削皮器)so that you know that something clean has been applied to the fruit. Enjoy the smell of roadside stands, not the food. Unless the food is piping hot when served, it’s best to stay away from roadside stands, no matter how good the smell of the food might be. If you are concerned about whether a restaurant is clean, order the food to go.5 A. Don’t trust the local water. B. Any fruit served fresh may be polluted. C. Look out for any water not served in a bottle. D. The boxes may be cleaner than the plate or fork on the table. E. You should know how to keep yourself away from dirty fruits. F. They are necessary to avoid coming back with a major illness from your trip. G. Parasites(寄生虫) can enter the skin of your feet and travel to different parts of the body. 3.G根据本段标题“Always protect your feet”以及空后的“You should never walk barefoot...” 4.B根据本段标题“Be sure to eat safe fruits”以及空处后一句“They may have been washed in the same water, or wiped with the same rag used to clean work surfaces in kitchens”可知,B项“任何新鲜的水果都可能是被污染的”符合语境。 5.D根据本段标题以及空处前一句“If you are concerned about whether a restaurant is clean, order the food to go”可知,D项“这些盒子可能比桌子上的盘子或叉子更干净”符合语境,故选D项。 [八] Many people think only professionals—engineers, accountants, teachers, etc.—have careers.1 Even if you’ve never had a paid job, you still have a career. Your career is the sum of your life and work. It includes all your activities and experiences. Your schooling, your volunteer work, and even your relationships with your family are all big parts of your career.2 During your career, you will have a variety of jobs, occupations and roles. People used to think of a job as full-time, permanent, paid work done for an employer at a work site. But in our changing world, a job is a set of duties or tasks. It can be paid or unpaid.3 Even someone who is self-employed has a job. An occupation is a group of jobs with similar responsibilities that require a common set of skills.4 Programmers may have permanent or temporary jobs working for specific employers, be self-employed, work full-time or part-time, be paid for their work or volunteer their services. They may change jobs or hold several jobs at one time but, until they change the type of duties or tasks they perform, they are still computer programmers. 5 We all play a number of roles in our lives and our roles often change over time. For example, Kris works four days a week as a receptionist in a clinic and takes evening courses in social work. She also sews gymnastic wear for her neighbor who sells it at summer markets. Now Kris has at least three roles. A.A role is a part you play. B. Actually everyone has a career. C. In other words, your career is your life story. D. For example, computer programmer is an occupation. E.As a matter of fact, a job is different from a role in some way. F. It can be completed at a work site, at home, or somewhere else. G. The following is about your work, your family, and your life story. 1.B根据下文的“Even if you’ve never had a paid job, you still have a career.” 2.C根据上文的“Your career is the sum of your life and work.It includes all your activities and experiences.” 5.A根据下文的“We all play a number of roles in our lives...” [九] Whether they’re for a teenager or not, all great stories have certain elements: they have interesting characters we enjoy reading about; they show these characters in a world we can recognize and understand. 1 The main character faces a problem, usually quite a serious one. The thing that most draws us into reading the story is the way the character deals with the problem—whether they get the better of it, or it gets the better of them. Characters in a book for young adults are generally young adults themselves.2 On the one hand, they’re not children anymore. They’re growing up and want to stretch their wings. On the other hand, they’re not yet adults. They can’t do certain things. They’re not yet able to do them or because the world tells them that they can’t. To make things even more complicated, almost all young adults feel at some point that the whole growing-up process is happening too quickly.3 This year, Teens has selected seven of the ten books nominated (提名)for the US 2017 National Book Awards in the categories of Young people’s literature. Some stories are specifically written for teenagers or young adults, meaning that their authors are very sensitive to the “in-between” nature of teenage life. They’re about problems that appear for young people because of tensions between them and their parents and teachers, their siblings(兄弟姐妹),or wider society. Often, these problems are presented very seriously by writers.4 At the same time, fictions aren’t supposed to be just about the challenges people face in life, but also about how people overcome those problems.5 They discover something about themselves that they never knew before, and which enables them to succeed. And the solution that they find opens the future up to them, setting them on the path to adulthood. A. And they are in a challenging period of life. B. But most importantly, great stories have a central drama. C. To some degree, a challenge brings out the best in a character. D. But that’s what teenagers want in fiction: to be taken seriously. E. They want to hold back a little and remain a child a little longer. F. These are stories that someone of any age could pick up and enjoy. G. When closing a good book, we feel we’ve learned something about ourselves. 2.A根据下文的“On the one hand, they’re not children anymore.” 3.E根据“the whole growing-up process is happening too quickly”可知,青少年感觉成长太快,可知他们想仍然做个孩子,故选E项。 [十] Habits to Be a Highly Effective Student Some students are able to get straight As and at the same time serve as the president of three clubs. However, some students struggle to keep their GPA (Grade-Point Average) above a 3.0.1 Although it’s true that everyone’s IQ is different, good study habits are very important. Here’re several habits you should adopt to get good grades. 2 If you haven’t had a planner(规划簿),get one. Many people use their computers and smartphones to make a schedule. The problem with that approach is that they are major distractions (分心的事物).Instead, get an old-fashioned paper and pen planner. Create a weekly schedule.3 Include time that will be spent eating, sleeping and doing anything not related to school work. That way you know exactly how much you can accomplish each day. Take frequent, short breaks. Taking a break from studying for 15 minutes every hour will help keep you refreshed.4 If you don’t take a break, you may find yourself daydreaming or even falling asleep. Take some time for some water, a snack or a quick chat with a friend. Take care of yourself. During final exam week, it is common for students to fall behind on sleep and meals. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep and have regular meals. Studying while hungry or sleepy is ineffective and will slow you down in the long run. Also try to make time for friends and family.5 A. Keep things organized. B. Keep away from your computers. C. Of course, not everyone needs breaks. D. Our brains are not meant to work for hours nonstop. E. Having a good support system will help with all the stress. F. And they seem to spend all of their time in studying. G. Then under each day, make a list of things to do each hour. 2.A根据空后的句子“If you haven’t had a planner(规划簿),get one.”
