You want your children to do well in school. You want them to have nice friends and interesting hobbies and to not go out with strangers. You may even want them to be happy. But in this computer game, you can always start over with a new digital child if things don't work out as planned.‎ ‎    A new game in China puts players in control of those most fearsome of characters: Mom and Dad. The mission(任务)? Raise a son or daughter from kindergarten to college.‎ ‎    In a nation of famously demanding, scolding and, yes, sometimes loving mothers and fathers, the game, Chinese Parents, is a hit. Since its release(发布) in September, it has found a huge audience on Steam, an online marketplace run by the American game maker Valve Corporation. There are no official figures for how many people have downloaded the game but it has caused heated discussion online while earning tens of thousands of reviews.‎ ‎    Yang Gee Yelling, a founder of Moy wan Games, the independent studio that developed Chinese Parents, said he hoped to produce an English version this year. The success of the game, which costs $9.99 to play, does not appear to be driven by people hoping to exact revenge(报复) for their own upbringings. Quite the opposite: Some fans have written that, by letting them experience childhood from their parents' perspective, it had moved them to tears.‎ ‎    "I used to not understand many things my mom made me do when I was little," said Kang Shang, 19, a professional blogger in the northeastern city of Qinhuangdao. "But when I play the game and try to increase figures for my son so he can unlock more achievements and marry the prettiest girl in school, I start to understand my parents more."‎ ‎    All the joys and trials of raising children are here. Players choose between pushing their digital generation to attain conventional success and allowing them some appearance of childhood innocence(天真无邪). They must give career guidance and tolerate (just barely) their teenager's first dates. Everything leads up to the gaokao, the highly competitive college entrance exam that decides the fortunes of so many young Chinese people.‎ ‎(1)What's the function of the first paragraph?‎ A、To present the parents' expectations.‎ B、To attract readers to the topic.‎ C、To arouse argument among readers.‎ D、To state clear facts.‎ 答 案 B 解 析 文章第一段最后一句“But in this computer game, you can always start over with a new digital child if things don't work out as planned.” B。‎ ‎(2)How do we know this computer game Chinese Parents is popular?‎ A、It is produced as expected.‎ B、It has aroused heated discussions and received many comments online.‎ C、Many parents have been engaged in playing this computer game.‎ D、It is hoped that an English version of this computer game will come out this year.‎ 答 案 B 解 析 根据第三段“Since its release(发布) in September, it has found a huge audience on Steam”和“...it has caused heated discussion online while earning tens of thousands of reviews.” B。‎ ‎(3)What's the author's attitude towards this computer game?‎ A、Uncertain.‎ B、Cautious.‎ C、Supportive.‎ D、Doubtful.‎ 答 案 C 解 析 根据最后一段中“All the joys and trials of raising children are here.” C。‎ ‎(4)What's the author's purpose in writing the text?‎ A、To introduce the computer game Chinese Parents.‎ B、To encourage children to play this computer game Chinese Parents.‎ C、To persuade parents to be strict with their children.‎ D、To let parents understand their children better.‎ 答 案 A 解 析 阅读全文可知,文章介绍了一个模拟养育孩子的游戏:中国式家长,故 A 正确。‎ ‎2.    Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is gaining global popularity. According to a government white paper, TCM has been introduced in 183 countries and regions around the world.‎ ‎    Westerners' understanding of TCM, however, may be limited to acupuncture, cupping and massage(针灸,拔罐和按摩). For instance, the purple, injury-like marks left on U. S. swimmer Michael Phelps' back from cupping for the purpose of relaxing his muscles and reducing pain became the center of attention during the Rio Olympics in 2016.‎ ‎    As a matter of fact, Chinese herbs play a more important role in getting rid of diseases and keeping the body in good condition in the TCM treatment system than physical treatment. It is therefore depressing to know that while 103 World Health Organization member countries have given approval to the practice of acupuncture, not many recognize Chinese herbal medicine. TCM falls far behind Western medicine owing partly to the slow development of Chinese herbs.‎ ‎    Herbs are made into pills, powder and soup, and the kind of herbs used, their quality and quantity, and the processing of the ingredients(原材料) jointly determine the effectiveness of the prescription. Compared with Western medicine, which has standardized drug production processes and treatment methods, TCM lacks standardization(标准化), with the chemical composition and functions of its medicines being unclear and their effects being unstable. Fortunately, standardization has improved in recent decades, with an increasing number of factories producing patented TCM drugs.‎ ‎    Another factor that has prevented the development of TCM prescription drugs is the lack of creativity. While Western medicine-making companies come up with new products every year, TCM drug producers tend to make medicines according to prescriptions handed down from the past. Chinese chemist Tu Youyou's winning the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for her research into malaria(疟疾) treatment may drive creativity to some extent in China's TCM industry. However, the current state of affairs cannot be changed within a short time.‎ ‎(1)Why does the author mention the example of Michael Phelps?‎ A、Because he was injured in his swimming.‎ B、Because cupping is a kind of important TCM treatment.‎ C、Because westerners know a little about TCM.‎ D、Because westerners attach great importance to TCM.‎ 答 案 C 解 析 根据第二段第一句 Westerners' understanding of TCM, however, may be limited to acupuncture, cupping and massage C。‎ ‎(2)Why don't some member countries of WHO recognize Chinese herbal medicine?‎ A、Because Chinese herbs can get rid of diseases.‎ B、Because they only approve the practice of acupuncture.‎ C、Because Western medicine is more effective.‎ D、Because medicine made out of Chinese herbs develops slowly.‎ 答 案 D 解 析 根据第三段倒数两句 It is therefore depressing to know that while 103 World Health Organization member countries have given approval to the practice of acupuncture, not many recognize Chinese herbal medicine. TCM falls far behind Western medicine owing partly to the slow development of Chinese herbs D。‎ ‎(3)Compared with Western medicine, what is the weak point of TCM in Paragraph 4?‎ A、The methods of planting herbs.‎ B、The effectiveness of prescription.‎ C、Its stable functions.‎ D、Lacking in standardization.‎ 答 案 D 解 析 根据第四段第二句 Compared with Western medicine, which has standardized drug production processes and treatment methods, TCM lacks standardization(标准化), with the chemical composition and functions of its medicines being unclear and their effects being unstable 与药品生产工艺和治疗方法规范化的西药相比,中药缺乏规范化,其化学成分和功能不明确,药效不稳定。 D。‎ ‎(4)The lack of creativity in TCM refers to the fact that      .‎ A、medicine-making companies lack creativity B、prescriptions are got from the past C、Western companies are more experienced D、medicine-making companies lack driving force Another factor that has prevented the development ‎ of TCM prescription drugs is the lack of creativity. ...TCM drug producers tend to make medicines according to prescriptions handed down from the past While it is impossible to live completely free of stress(压力), it is possible to prevent stress as well as reduce its effect    1   . The US Department of Health and Human Services offers the following suggestions for ways to deal with stress.‎ ‎◆   2   ‎ ‎    When you are nervous, angry or upset, try releasing the pressure through exercise or physical activity. Running, walking, playing tennis, and working in your garden are just some of the activities you might try.‎ ‎◆Take care of yourself ‎    You should make every effort to eat well and get enough rest.
