Unit 1The world of our senses单元学案训练 单元检测B——阅读理解提速练 Ⅰ. A Experience about food is about the place, the time and the people, and “the best meal” can be found in a fine dining restaurant or a crowded street market. How can you recreate that special moment influenced by place and time? Travel is becoming the most popular reason to visit many places around the world. Here are the places that consistently excite the senses.‎ South of France Markets with fresh fruits and vegetables and butcher shops are abundant. Regional (地区的) wines are excellent. And freshly baked French bread with French butter is what memories are made of. Take a chair in an ancient walled city for a meal with a view that you will never forget.‎ Barcelona This bustling city filled with unique buildings is a city for lovers of history, architecture, and food. Kiosko Universal, a counter restaurant at one corner of the market, prepares some of the simplest and best food we've ever had. Give yourself a week to explore and see everything the city offers. The city is not to be missed.‎ Italy It's hard to choose one place or city to visit. Some of our favorite places include the coastal regions on the Adriatic and Tuscany. Friuli stole our hearts last year with its many unique wines,‎ ‎ small artisan food producers, and influences from neighboring countries like Austria and Germany.‎ Mexico City From unbelievable food markets and casual street stands, Mexico City has become the place to travel for food lovers. If you want to eat locally, order a Hurache, a street food specialty. All you need is the local microbrew or Mezcal (梅斯卡尔酒) to wash it down.‎ ‎1.Where can you taste delicious food while enjoying beautiful scenery?‎ A.South of France. B.Barcelona.‎ C.Italy. Despite moving back neatly into position between two cars, I was still quite a way from the edge of the pavement. I spent a few minutes inching backward and forward but failed to get any closer to it. I started to panic, worrying that I'd be late meeting my daughter, when a young man of about 25 got out of the car behind me and knocked on my window.‎ Embarrassed and nervous, I wound down the front side window. “Would you like me to park your car for you?” he asked pleasantly.‎ I gratefully accepted. Taking my handbag with me, I jumped out of the car and handed him my keys. As I watched, he drove the car out into the busy traffic before moving back and parking with swift precision. “Thank you so much,” I said excitedly.‎ While it was a simple act of kindness for this young man to ‎ perform, I felt it was quite an unusual thing to occur these days. He politely refused further thanks and hurried away. I related this story to my daughter over dinner and then we went to the Pop Up Theater to see Hamlet. Sitting in the theater later, I was surprised when the actor playing Rosencrantz — or was it Guildenstern? — turned out to be the same young man.‎ I have seen him in a few other local productions since then. Although I can't remember his name, he'll always be the kind young man who parked the car for me.‎ 语篇解读:某天作者去接女儿,在停车时怎么都停不好车,这时有位年轻人主动帮忙,作者欣然接受,后来发现帮助自己停车的年轻人竟然是一位演员。‎ ‎5.Why was the author worried?‎ A.A strange man knocked on her window.‎ B.Her daughter would be late for school.‎ C.She might fail to meet her daughter in time.‎ D.Her car crashed into another car.‎ 解析:选C 细节理解题。根据第一段最后一句中的“worrying that I'd be late meeting my daughter”可知,作者担心自己不能按时与女儿会面。故选C项。‎ ‎6.How did the author react to the young man's offer?‎ A.She refused it at first.‎ B.She felt extremely embarrassed.‎ C.She hesitated about it.‎ D.She thankfully accepted it.‎ 解析:选D 细节理解题。 ‎ ‎7.What do we know about the actor?‎ A.He was a kindhearted man.‎ B.He liked Guildenstern.‎ C.He was like Rosencrantz.‎ D.He played Hamlet in a play.‎ 解析:选A 推理判断题。根据最后一段最后一句中的“he'll always be the kind young man who parked the car for me”可知,这位年轻人是个热心人。故选A项。根据第四段最后一句中的“I was surprised when the actor playing Rosencrantz — or was it Guildenstern? — turned out to be the same young man”可知B、C、D三项表述错误。‎ Ⅱ. Five Ways to Work Smarter, Not Harder No matter how hard we work, it seems that there is never enough time to get all the important tasks done. Rather than working longer, consider working smarter, not harder. Here are some ways to work smarter:‎ Make a careful plan. Just like every organization needs a business plan, an efficient worker needs a work plan. __1__ Schedule your tasks throughout the days, weeks, and months, but do it ahead of time.‎ Set your goals. As a part of your work plan, you should set clear and measurable goals. Goals should state which tasks are to be completed and when they get completed. Rather than setting firm deadlines, which can lead to pressure and stress, allow a period of ‎ time to reach goals. __2__‎ ‎__3__ Develop a consistent daily work schedule and stick to it! If a typical workday consists of some writing tasks (emails, reports), oneonone meetings, and processing data, set aside specific time each day to accomplish each kind of tasks.‎ Delegate (分派工作) effectively. __4__ The person who tries to do everything himself or herself not only is overloaded and overstressed, but is bad for their colleagues by not allowing them to be challenged and grow by taking on important duties.‎ Don't make work harder than it actually is. Much of the pressure is produced by ourselves. __5__ We feel like we should do more. Remember that tasks should be completed step by step. Focus on each step rather than on the entire project, which can help us cut down on feelings that we are overwhelmed.‎ A.Stick to your plan.‎ B.We set unrealistic goals or standards for ourselves.‎ C.Also, take time to reward yourself for achieving a goal.‎ D.Organize your workday.‎ E.We cannot expect to complete the tasks quickly.‎ F.Learn which tasks can be delegated and which need personal attention.‎ G.It is a wellthoughtout plan to help guide and direct work activities.‎ ‎1.选G 根据本段主题句Make a careful ‎ plan. ‎ ‎5.选B 根据设空前一句“Much of the pressure is produced by ourselves.”以及设空后一句“We feel like we should do more.” ‎
