The lack of listening skills is a major challenge to children in the classroom. Then what can we do?‎ Teach them how to listen and show why it is necessary for good communication with others. Make it fun and try a new game:Tell them to talk, sit down and be quiet. Do it with them with about five seconds in between. Move it to 10 seconds and then 15.‎ Make another game out of it using a favorite doll. Storytelling is one of the best ways to practice this skill. Let the doll tell a story. Then let the children practice by holding the doll and let them tell a story. When you talk, show them how to pay attention and listen. When they talk, show them how you are quiet and pay attention. Take turns repeating the story to each other.‎ Read to your child. Before you begin, tell the child you are going to zip their lips and then pretend to do it. Tell them you are going to lock the zipper and throw away the key. When they want to say something, get the pretend key and unlock the pretend lock and unzip the pretend zipper and let them talk.‎ It’s a good idea to get started on this as soon as possible. If you do, interaction(互动) and communication at playgroups, in school and in many other places will be less stressful and more productive in the end.‎ ‎21. What is usually ignored in the classroom?‎ A. The listening skill.               B. The writing skill.‎ C. The teaching environment.        D. The interpersonal relationship.‎ ‎22. How do kids practice listening in the second game?‎ A. By listening to a doll’s story. B. By showing how to pay attention.‎ C. By telling some interesting stories. D. By listening to a story and repeating it.‎ ‎23. Why does the teacher pretend to zip the kids’ lips?‎ A. To please them.              B. To stop them from speaking.‎ C. To draw their attention.    D. To teach them to remember key words.‎ ‎24. What is the best title of this text?‎ A. Learn skills by playing games. B. How to improve children’s listening skills. ‎ C. Teach children how to communicate. D. What fun games should we play with children?‎ B Question 1: What is brown and sticky? Answer: A stick. ‎ Question 2: How many electricians does it take to change a light bulb? Answer: One.‎ Did you find them funny? If not, it probably means you are not a fan of anti-humour. We normally laugh at jokes because the joke-teller creates certain expectations while telling the joke and we start laughing at the punchline (好笑的部分) when it does not meet ‎ these expectations. Anticlimax (虎头蛇尾) jokes, like the stick and light bulb jokes above, also do not meet our expectations, but in this case it's because they are not funny. Ironic, isn't it? They tell the obvious, by giving an answer that is easier than you expect. A shaggy (毛发蓬松的) dog story is another example of a joke that ends with a silly punchline. So, in other words there's this joke ... and it doesn't matter what it is about ... the joke can start in a hotel ... or in a small town ... that's not the point. The joke goes on and on ... and on. The joke-teller gives you detail after detail; the joke grows a tail, it becomes shaggy ... when you have imagined all the events in this long and complicated story ... Bam! The punchline! And what's so funny about the last line? Nothing! Many stand-up comedians use anti-humour, which seems to be funnier because they always look serious. Perhaps it's not funny at all, but as they say, laughter is contagious (传染的). So if you are laughing because the joke was ridiculous, it's likely that other people are also laughing. And if you are not laughing because you didn't think it was funny, maybe you were missing the most important ingredient, according to scientists: other laughers. One last question: What did the doctor say to the patient who couldn’t laugh? Maybe you can think of a punchline that will make the patient start laughing ... or maybe not!‎ ‎25.Why does the author present two jokes at the beginning of the text?‎ A. To show what anti-humour is like. B. To give examples of popular jokes in the UK. C. To give examples of a good punchline. D. To show what kind of jokes can make people laugh. 26. What is the humor of anticlimax jokes based on? A. An ironic ending. B. A complicated ending. C. A meaningful ending. D. An unexpectedly simple ending. 27. What can we conclude from the last three paragraphs? A. Anti-humour is the best skill for stand-up comedians. B. Anti-humour is very communicative and contagious. C. Doctors are recommended to tell anti-humour jokes to patients. D. Anti-humour jokes may only seem funny when others laugh at them.‎ C It’s hard for a 30-year-old person like me to find a job today. And one in four adults between 18 and 34 years old say they have moved back to live with parents after living on their own for some time.‎ It is reported that only 54% of the American adults aged 18 to 25 now have jobs, which was the lowest in over 60 years. Breaking from tradition, my generation may grow up to be less wealthy than our parents’ generation.‎ However, many people don’t like the millennials (people who were born between the 1980s and the 2000s). They think we are lazy and selfish and call us the Me Me Me Generation. But based on the young people I know, the view couldn’t be farther from the truth. Millennials want to work. Even though being shackled by debt and work stress, they aren’t motivated by money. Instead, they’re driven to make a difference in the world.‎ When I interviewed dozens of millennials about their career choices, almost no one answered that they wanted to make lots of money or have lots of power. Instead, they said things like, “I want to teach kids living in a food desert how to grow their own food.”‎ These young people aren’t interested in climbing the career ladder. Most millennials have already changed careers and over 90% of the millennials expect to stay in a job for less than three years. As Nathaniel Koloc, CEO of Rework, said, “There is no clear way ‘up’ anymore. It’s just a series of projects or jobs, one after another. You can move in any direction; the only question is how you’re making your plan of where to move and where you can land, that is, what you’re competitive for.”‎ ‎28. Why do some adults move back to live with their parents?‎ A. To follow the old tradition. B. To look after their parents. ‎ C. To reduce their own pressure.          D. To balance work and family.‎ ‎29. Which word can replace the underlined word “shackled” in Paragraph 3?‎ A. troubled B. beaten C. shocked D. disappointed ‎30. What does the author think of the millennials?‎ A. They are lazy and selfish.                 B. They care more about power.‎ C. They are less rich than their parents.    D. They want to make the world a better place.‎ ‎31. What can we learn from Nathaniel Koloc’s words?‎ A. Young people have many jobs to choose from.‎ B. The jobs that share a person’s purpose really matter. ‎ C. There are lots of positions waiting for young people.‎ D. Young people should have good plans for their jobs. ‎ D Laughter is a kind of universal body language that’s shared by people of all countries, skin colors, and cultures. But did you know that the ability to tell real laughter apart from fake laughter also transcends (超越) cultures? Greg Bryant, a professor of communication at the University of California, US, published a study in Psychological Science in which he found that people are able to identify real laughter through slight changes in sound. In the study, 884 people from 21 countries were asked to listen to random recordings of laughter. Some of the recordings were made up of natural laughs, while others were made by people who were asked to laugh on command. The study showed that people around the world have the ability to pick out real laughter, although their abilities vary from country to country. Residents of the Samoan Islands, an island chain in the central South Pacific, were particularly good at it, correctly identifying real laughter 56 percent of the time. According to Bryant, people from smaller, less industrialized nations “are more accurate in identifying a natural smile” because they rely heavily on emotional relations in order to predict others’ behavior and create stronger social relationships. But how do people from different cultures detect natural laughter so easily? And what traits does real laughter have? As Professor Jessica Wolf of the University of California ‎ told the Association for Psychological Science, in real laughter, our vocal chords (声带) “produce qualities such as higher pitch (音调) and volume, as well as faster bursts of non-articulate (不清晰的) sounds and more non-tonal (无语调的) noise”. By contrast, fake laughter will “sound like speech”. Because fake laughter is controlled by the same brain system that controls the lips and tongue. Bryant further explained that this system has an imitative (模仿的)capacity, saying “with this speech system, you can make different noises, including crying, laughter or a scream of pain. That’s where fake laughter comes from”. So next time when one of your friends laughs at what you said, will you be able to tell if it’s real?‎ 32. What did Bryant discover about people’s ability to distinguish between real and fake laughter?‎ A. Not all people are born with this ability.‎ B. It has greatly improved in recent years.‎ C. People can identify natural laughter by small differences in the voice.‎ D. People from different backgrounds are able to laugh in different ways. 33. What can we conclude from the 4th and 5th paragraphs? A. Samoans did best in picking out real laughter in the study. B. People across cultures have different abilities to identify real laughter. C. People from developing countries are usually not good at detecting natural laughter. D. The better one’s social relationships, the more accurate one can identify real laughter.‎ ‎34. Natural laughter is usually characterized by ______. A. low pitch B. clear, loud sounds C. high volume D. tonal noise 35. What do we know about fake laughter? A. It is difficult for people to imitate. B. It sounds like high-pitched speech. C. It is produced by a speech system in the brain. D. It is often accompanied with different noises.‎ 第二节(共 5 小题,每小题 2 分,满分 10 分) ‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项是多余选项。‎ Nowadays, many people love to travel.
