He was apprenticed (做学徒) to the sculptor and painter Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence and in 1478 became an independent master. In about 1483, he moved to Milan to work for the ruling (统治的) Sforza family as an engineer, sculptor, painter and architect. Leonardo was in Milan until the city was invaded by the French in 1499 and the Sforza family was forced to flee. He may have visited Venice before returning to Florence. During his time in Florence, he painted several portraits, but the only one that survives is the famous portrait—the Mona Lisa(1503~1506). In 1506, Leonardo returned to Milan, staying there until 1513.This was followed by three years living in Rome. In 1517, at the invitation of the French King Francis Ⅰ, Leonardo moved to the Chateau of Cloux, near Amboise in France, where he died on 2 May, 1519. The fame of Leonardo's surviving paintings means that he has been regarded primarily as an artist, but the thousands of surviving pages of his notebooks show the most brilliant mind. He wrote and drew on subjects including geology, anatomy (解剖学), which he studied in order to paint the human form more exactly. He “invented” the bicycle, airplane, helicopter, and parachute some 500 years ahead of their time. If all these works had been published in an understandable form, Leonardo's place as a pioneering scientist would have been beyond debate. Yet his true genius was not as a scientist or an artist, but as a combination of the two: an artistengineer. His painting was scientific, based on a deep understanding of the workings of the human body and the physics of light and shade. His science was expressed through art, and his drawings and diagrams showed what he meant, and how he understood the world worked. 【解题导语】 本文介绍了达·芬奇的生平以及其在绘画、科学等方面的成就。 1.Leonardo's career reached its peak probably during his stay in . The innovative, eggshaped pods ensure travellers can camp in the most extreme corners of the world, with all the luxury of a hotel room. Looking like something in a scifi movie, the pod is equipped with solar panels, and a retractable wind turbine, which guarantee solar and wind energy as its power. In this way, the tiny home can let you live comfortably wherever you travel. It even has its own shower and toilet, sleeping area for two, and a small kitchen. It may look like a camp, but at least with the Ecocapsule you can look forward to a hot shower and running water on your travels. The 3,306 lb pods can be transported on your travels in a seacontainer or can be towed on a trailer, meaning the possibilities are endless. Bratislavabased Nice Architects are behind the extraordinary Ecocapsules and said they initially designed them for people who stay in the nature for a long time. However, it quickly became apparent that they could be opened up to the wider public and even used in urban areas to combat high rent, and placed on roofs for studio space or living quarters. The Ecocapsule can serve as a cottage, a popup hotel 6 or even as a charging station for electric cars. The Ecocapsules could even be quickly imported for housing for emergency teams who have been quickly deployed to help with natural disasters that have destroyed nearby infrastructure. Described by the website as a “Swiss Army knife”—it packs everything you need, the selfcontained unit can sustain long periods of time without external resources. The 86 sqft pods are able to sleep two people for up to a year and for those worried about a cold night's sleep, the Ecocapsule has a thick layer of efficient heat isolation and energy restoration which significantly reduce heat loss. The pod is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions due to its innovative design and materials used. No wonder the Nice Architects are so confident about its prospect and the producers are receiving heavy orders. 4.Where does the Ecocapsule get power? Wasting time means our time decreases while our talents do not increase. 1 . •Get to know how you use your usual time and make improvements Take a week and write down what you do every 30 minutes every day and make it into categories.
