They are the proof of cultures and civilization that existed many years ago. Gobekli Tepe, Turkey Located on a hilltop in southwestern Turkey where it snows a lot in winter, the Gobekli Tepe is considered the world's oldest temple. It is nearly 11,000 years old. There are carvings on the rock statues, mainly of lions, foxes, snakes, cranes and wild ducks, as well as scenes of people hunting. Because heavy snow makes it hard to get to the top of the hill, visitors are not recommended to go there in winters. White Temple, Thailand Immediately upon entering White Temple, you will realize this contemporary, unconventional temple stands out, even in a country dotted with temples. The White Temple is incredibly different and unique in its architecture, art and design. In fact, it is designed in a very modern way. This temple is all white. It is very hot in summer in Thailand, so going to White Temple in other three seasons is a wise choice. Sagrada Familia, Spain This symbolic Barcelona building is famously unfinished. It is said to be finished by 2026, but nobody believes it. However, visitors believe its incompleteness is part of its charm, which sets it apart from other temples in the world. You will have to wait in a long line if you visit Sagrada Familia in summer holiday. Visitors are not that many in spring and winter. Kinkakuji, Japan This temple is absolutely the most popular one in Japan. Whether you visit during the fall when there are red leaves against the golden wall, in winter when the gold is topped with pure white snow, in spring with cherry blossoms, or in summer allowing you to smell the earthy smell after rain—there is never a bad time to visit this beautiful temple. 21.Which temple will you choose to go if you are a fan of modern architecture? A. Gobekli Tepe. B. White Temple. C. Sagrada Familia. D. Kinkakuji. 22.What makes Sagrada Familia special according to the passage? A. It is unfinished. B. It is all white. C. It is the oldest temple. D. It is untraditional. 23.Which temple is favorable to go to all year round? A. Gobekli Tepe. B. White Temple. C. Sagrada Familia. D. Kinkakuji. B Finally, I entered the university. Because of my careful savings, I did not have to work during the school year. Then, summer came and it was time to work harder than ever. I continued working as a waitress at night, instructed tennis camps several mornings a week and worked as a secretary for a few hours in the afternoons. I even decided to take a class at a community (社区) college. This class at the community college saved me $650. It was an extremely tiring summer and made me anxious to return to my relatively easy life at the university. During my second and third years of undergraduate schooling, I decided to work about five hours per week in the campus (校园) admissions office answering phones. This provided a little spending money and kept me from drawing my savings out. I wanted to go to Israel to study for 3 weeks, but I hesitated in making this decision because it would cost me $1,600 more to get the credits in Israel. About two weeks later my Mom called to tell me that I had $1,600 in the bank that I had forgotten about! One of my concerns about this trip was not only the cost, but the loss of time to make money; however, I made as much that summer in the ten weeks when I was at home as I had made during the fourteen weeks when I was at home the summer before. The way everything worked together to make this trip possible was one of the most exciting things that have ever happened to me. This experience has shaped me in many important ways. The first thing that I learned was the importance of a strong work ethic (伦理). Working long hours did a lot to develop my character and helped me learn the value of a dollar. It also made me learn how to search for creative ways to settle difficult situations. 24. Where did the writer probably work parttime before attending the university? A. In a restaurant. B. In the tennis camps. C. In a company. D. In the admissions office. 25.The writer took a class at a community college mainly because ________. A. she wanted to save money B. life there was relatively easy C. summer time was tiring D. it was required by the university 26.The writer's major concern about the trip to Israel was that ________. A. her mother would not agree B. she would fail to get credits in Israel C. a wellpaid summer job would be lost D. $1,600 couldn't be drawn out in time 27.The passage is mainly about how the writer ________. A. made money on the college campus B. managed to make full use of her vacation C. was forced to support herself by her mother D. was shaped by working parttime through college C I was waiting for a phone call from my agent. He had left a message the night before, telling me that my show was to be cancelled.I called him several times, but each time his secretary told me that he was in a meeting and that he would call me later. So I waited and waited, but there was still no call.Three hours passing by,I became more and more impatient.I was certain that my agent didn’t care about my work, and he didn’t care about me.I was overcome with that thought.I started to shout at the phone,“Let me wait, will you?Who do you think you are?” At that time I didn’t realize my wife was looking on.Without showing her surprise, she rushed in,seized the phone, tore off the wires, and shouted at the phone,“Yeah!Who do you think you are?Bad telephone!Bad telephone!” And she swept it into the wastebasket. I stood watching her, speechless. What on earth...? She stepped to the doorway and shouted at the rest of the house,“Now hear this! All objects in this room—if you do anything to upset my husband, out you go!” Then she turned to me,kissed me,and said calmly,“Honey, you just have to learn how to take control.” With that, she left the room. After watching a crazy woman rushing in and out, shouting at everything in sight,I noticed that something in my mood had changed.I was laughing. How could I have trouble with that phone? Her antics helped me realize I had been driven crazy by small things.Twenty minutes later my agent did call.I was able to listen to him and talk to him calmly. 28.Why did the author shout at the telephone? A.He was mad at the telephone. B.He was angry with his agent. C.He was anxious about his wife. D.He was impatient with the secretary. 29.What did the author’s wife do after she heard his shouting? D London (CNN) There is no God—that's the conclusion of the wellknown physicist Stephen Hawking, whose final book is published on Tuesday. The book Brief Answers to the Big Questions, which was completed by his family after his death, presents answers to the questions that Hawking said he received most during his time on Earth. Other bombshells (爆炸性事件) the British scientist left his readers with include the belief that alien life is out there, artificial intelligence could outsmart humans and time travel can't be impossible. “There is no God. No one directs the universe,” he writes in the book. “For centuries, it was believed that disabled people like me were living under a curse by God,” he adds. “I prefer to think that everything can be explained another way, by the laws of nature.” While Hawking spoke of his lack of belief in God during his life, several of his other answers are more surprising. “There are forms of intelligent life out there,” he writes. “We need to be cautious about answering back until we have developed a bit further.” “Travel back in time can't be ruled out according to our present understanding,” he says. He also predicts that “within the next hundred years we will be able to travel to anywhere in the Solar System.” In remarks prepared by Hawking and played at the launch of the book in London on Monday, the scientist also turned his attention to the world he was leaving behind. His greatest concern, his daughter said, “is how divided we've become,” adding, “He makes this comment about how we seem to have lost the ability to look outward, and we are increasingly looking inward to ourselves.” Hawking's final message to readers, though, is a hopeful one. Attempting to answer the question “How do we shape the future?”, the scientist writes, “Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet.” 32.Which question is NOT probably included in the book Brief Answers to the Big Questions? A. Is there alien life? B. Does anyone direct the universe? C. Is time travel possible? D. Does the solar system exist? 33.Hawking mentioned his disability in his book to ________. A. show his confidence B. support his disbelief in God C. tell readers about his hardship D. complain of God 34.What was Hawking most concerned about? A. Artificial intelligence will outsmart humans. B. Human beings are not united. C. Technology will destroy the world. D. Alien life will come to the earth some day. 35.What did Hawking suggest human beings do? A. Contact alien life. B. Respect artificial intelligence. C. Develop the earth. D. Explore the universe. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 阅读下面短文。根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多于选项。 New lives for old phones When a new mobile phone starts to be sold in stores, many people rush out to buy one. We all want the newest, latest thing. 36 Mike Townsend works at Total Recall, a mobile phone recycling (回收利用) company. “Don’t throw your old phone away. 37 If you throw it away, it goes with other rubbish to become landfill (填埋的垃圾). In other words, it is put in a big hole in the ground — and it becomes a big problem,” he says. Mobile phones contain some poisonous materials (物质). If your phone goes to a landfill, these poisonous materials can get out and get into the water under the ground. That’s the water we need to drink or water that goes into rivers or the ocean. 38 That’s a lot of landfill and a lot of poisonous materials. “At Total Recall, we separate the old phones into pieces. Most of the materials in a mobile phone can be recycled and used again. 39 For example, phone batteries (电池) contain nickel and cadmium. The nickel is used to make steel (钢), and the cadmium can be used to make new batteries,” explains Mike. “ 40 You can usually just take it into a mobile phone shop and they’ll send it to us,” says Mike. So, before you throw that old mobile phone away, use it one last time: search for a recycler near you and give them a call. A. Send it to us and we’ll recycle it. B. Recycling your old phone is easy. C. How much is our old mobile phone worth? D. But what should we do with our old mobile phones? E. Millions of mobile phones are thrown away every year. F. We sell the parts and they are used to make new products. G. Recycling materials helps keep the environment greener and cleaner. 第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节 满分45) 第一节:完形填空(共20小题; 每小题1.5分,满分30分 ) 阅读下面短文,从短文后所给各题的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中选出可填入空白处的最佳选项。 My daughter performed on behalf of her class in the annual school concert today. She played so 41 that I could not help cheering her.The very 42 reminded me of her experiences of piano practicing. Only if you put the sun there the movements of the other planets in the sky make the sense. Copernicus had collected observations of the stars and used all his mathematical knowledges to prove it. In 1514, Copernicus showed his theory private to his friends. They were enthusiastic and encouraged him to publishing his ideas. Copernicus refused because her theory was against that of the Christian Church. The theory wasn't published unless he lay dying in 1543. As Copernicus expected, the Christian Church rejects his theory, and it is now the basis on which all our ideas of the universe are built. 注意:1、词数100词左右; 2、可以适当增加细节,以使行文连贯; Dear David, __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 高二英语简易答案 听力:1~5.ABBCB 6~10.BCACB 11~15.ACCBA 16~20.CCBBA 阅读:21-23. Spending too much time and energy on games is harmful to our health and they are not real. If you lose yourself in the games, you may become isolated from the real world and ignore the beauty and love in life. In my opinion, you can try other things to distract your attention. For example, you can play basketball or take part in other sports with your friends, which can not only help you keep healthy, but strengthen your friendship. Besides, you can also communicate with your parents and friends, sharing your happiness and sorrow with them. Last but not least, you can read some interesting books to expand your knowledge in your spare time. I will be happy if you can get rid of the game, looking forward to your good news. Yours, Li Hua.查看更多
