But if you’ve got a European vacation planned and are trying to decide which one of these amazing cities to visit,it can be daunting(困难)for sure.‎ Sightseeing While both cities are rich in sightseeing adventures,Prague is definitely more beautiful as a city. You can walk along the Danube River for breathtaking views, sit in one of the many cafes that dot the urban landscape, and breathe in the amazing architecture both old and modern that makes up this Central European metropolis(都市). Vienna is a hotbed of history, home to such great sites such as The Hofburg,Schonbrunn Palace and Gardens, and St.Stephen’S Cathedral.‎ Shopping You most likely didn’t travel all the way to Europe just to go shopping. But,if you happen to be a shopaholic,Vienna is definitely better. But be warned: fine goods you buy in Vienna will sometimes be three times more expensive than what they are in the United States or Canada.‎ Cuisine When it comes to great dining, both cities are equally fascinating. Austrians are known for their love of sweets and pastries(糕点),which is reflected in the many bakeries, cafés,and restaurants scattered around Vienna. Some restaurants in either city offer local cuisine, though you’re more likely to be eating a combination of Western European or even Americanized food. Bear in mind that Prague (being that it is in Central Europe)will be far less pricey than Vienna.‎ Culture What do you hope to see on your trip? Palaces? Medieval Cathedrals? The Opera? How about museums? If you do happen to visit both cities, you'll find that culture equally as enriching. However,Vienna has more world—class museums which display the rich history of the area.‎ ‎21. Businessmen B The morning after an evening struggle to care for my three-year-old daughter, I couldn’t wait to get her to school. I, as a mother, was tired from the anger and her inability to communicate because of her slowed language development.‎ As I accompanied her into the car, I felt desperate. Nothing was right with our world. She’d been born around the same time when the nation was witnessing the birth of another Great Recession. My job and my house had been victims. Then this happened. My child’s language delay was identified, but doctors struggled to properly help her, I felt like we both needed to be rescued.‎ I returned that afternoon as disenchanted with the little girl I loved as when I left. Walking slowly toward the school’s playground gate, I found her preschool teacher racing to greet me.‎ ‎“You should have seen her today!” His breathy words were supported by excitement. I didn’t interrupt. “See that climber. ” He pointed to a wooden piece of playground equipment that looked like a rock wall. I nodded. “Well, every day since she started school, she’s tried and failed to make it to the top. ” He took a breath. “And today she did it!”‎ He expressed his joy just as he’d witnessed her conquering Mount Everest! “She cheered and celebrated! I wish I’d recorded it!” His words comforted me. My daughter had conquered her mountain.‎ As she ran toward me, I recognized something I hadn’t before. I saw her perseverance(毅力). I saw her strength. I saw a Hero.‎ Everyday greatness celebrates ordinary people who do unusual things in big and small ways, showing courage, kindness, love and selflessness. Wandering through the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts(MMFA),these patients and their loved ones will be able to feast their eyes on the peaceful collections of art.‎ The initiative is the first of its kind in the world. And while you certainly can’t replace a conventional treatment with a couple of paintings, the idea is for such“prescriptions”to assist a person’s current treatment plan. Under the new program, members of the Francophone Association of Doctors in Canada(MFDC)will be able to hand out up to 50 prescriptions for their patients.‎ These prescriptions will be available for those with a wide range of mental and physical illnesses, and each of them will allow two adults and two children to visit the museum for free.‎ ‎“By offering free admission to a safe, welcoming place,a relaxing experience,a moment of relief, and an opportunity to strengthen ties with loved ones,MMFA—MFDC Museum Prescriptions contribute to the patient’s well-being and recovery.”explains a news conference from the MMFA.‎ It may look a lot like a marketing effort for the museum but there’s also increasing evidence that the display of visual art, especially if it’s showing nature, can have positive effects on health outcomes.‎ In some ways, the benefits of looking at art appear a little similar to physical activity. A systematic review of clinical art therapy(疗法) found that visual art has significant and positive effects on depression, anxiety, mood, and self-esteem. Findings like these are slowly gaining attraction in the medical community, making artwork a higher priority(优先)in hospitals around the world.‎ In the US,nearly half of all health care institutions have reported including art in health care programming, such as art therapy and the placement of visual art in hospitals. With spaces dedicated(专用的)to art therapy and also a medical consultation room, the MMFA already provides services for people with mental health issues, eating disorders, and Alzheimer’s disease, just to name a few.‎ ‎28. Keeping them company through the Montreal Museum.‎ D. Giving them a prescription to access a local museum for free.‎ ‎29. MMFA thinks the new initiative in Canada can be_______.‎ A. a help with patients’recovery B. a chance to make friends C. the best option for the treatment plan D. a substitute for conventional treatment ‎30. Why does the museum join in the program?‎ A. To make visual art known to the public. B. To promote the museum into market.‎ C. To strengthen ties with doctors. D. To advance the science of medicine.‎ ‎31. What does the passage mainly talk about?‎ A. Fine arts will take the place of medicine.‎ B. Artists rarely suffer from some mental diseases.‎ C. More than 50 prescriptions are available for patients.‎ D. Art will be included in Canadian doctors’prescriptions.‎ D As our closest neighbor in space, the moon has been the subject of popular myths, songs and poems since ancient times. And it has no less fascinated scientists. But even after centuries of research many questions remain to be answered about Earth’s only satellite. Perhaps the Chang’e-4 lunar probe will be able to reveal more of its secrets.‎ On Dec 8,the probe lifted off from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province. It is the first probe to the far side of moon.‎ The Earth’s gravity slows the moon’s rotation, matching it to the speed of its orbit. Thus, the far side of the moon is always dark and has never been seen. It’s this sense of the unknown that makes the far side of the moon such an interesting place for scientific and space exploration.‎ Long exposed to solar winds, the far side may have the special soil and minerals in its upper mantle(地幔).For this reason,Chang’e-4 will study the effect of solar winds on the lunar surface and any minerals found beneath the spacecraft.‎ Chang’e-4 is also carrying flower seeds and potato and silkworm eggs to see whether life is possible on the moon. If it is,then the moon will become a more likely destination for space travel in the future. However, due to communication problems, exploration of the dark side will not be easy.‎ As the far side is blocked off from us,radio noise coming off Earth is also blocked. This is why China launched the relay satellite Queqiao in May—so that communication between Earth and the probe could go ahead. Power supply will also be a challenge to the mission.‎ Chang’e-4 gets energy from the sun through its solar panels. However,a lunar day has the length of 28 Earth days. This means that the probe will need to orbit the moon for over 20 days to be in a position to be able to land in moon daylight and so use its solar panels.‎ According to Xinhua,if everything goes well, the satellite will land on the far side on Jan 2.‎ The New York Times described the journey as“groundbreaking”,and wrote that it will“give clues to the history and development of the moon”.‎ ‎32. What is the purpose of Chang’e-4’s journey to the moon?‎ A. To explore the dark side of the moon. B. To send living things to the moon.‎ C. To break some popular myths. D. To look for a destination for space travel.‎ ‎33. Why was the relay satellite Queqiao launched?‎ A. To take photos of the moon’s far side. B. To supply power to Chang’e 4.‎ C. To guide Chang’e 4’s landing. D. To solve communication problems.‎ ‎34. Why does Chang’e 4 have to land in the moon daylight?‎ A. It call get energy from the sun. B. The effect of solar winds is smaller.‎ C. The moon is nearest to the earth then. D. It can observe the moon more clearly.‎ ‎35. What is the New York Times’attitude towards this journey?‎ A. Doubtful. B. Shocked. C. Favorable. D. Jealous.‎ 第二节 七选五 (共5小题,每小题3分,满分15分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ It could happen anywhere at any time.___36___ Most people,at one time or another, have been on the receiving end of a random act of kindness.
