It’s usually not true, but British actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 34, is an exception.‎ In September, 2019 Waller-Bridge took home three Emmy awards for her work on Fleabag–--- best writing in a comedy series, best lead actress, and best comedy series.‎ Her success is partly because of her family. Descended (遗传) from British nobility, Waller-Bridge was brought up in a free environment. Her mother always told her, “You can be whatever you want if you imagine it.” So Waller-Bridge broke all the rules about what a “good” girl should do. “Our laws and moral codes don’t apply – she lives ... without fear of consequence,” The Sun noted.‎ That fearlessness extends to being real in her writing and acting. Unlike the can-do heroines and strong, successful women in many TV dramas, Waller-Bridge shows an imperfect but real character. Just like the character Fleabag, who always found a way to say or do the wrong thing,‎ ‎ Waller-Bridge feels her life is a mess. “It resonated (共鸣) with the lives of stressed-out women everywhere in reality – doing their best to find balance in their lives,” a viewer wrote on US movie website IMDb. Variety magazine even calls her an “all-around icon”.‎ Villanelle in Killing Eve, another hit TV series developed by Waller-Bridge, was a little bit violent but showed no interest for the rules others created, which made many people see themselves in her.‎ ‎“People have been scared to write characters like these. But I think, now, women are so relieved to have this new model. And, aren’t we all a bit of everything?” Waller-Bridge said in an interview with Indian Express.‎ With such courage and sincerity, Waller-Bridge is, without a doubt, a “golden girl” in Hollywood, Australian news website The New Daily commented.‎ ‎28. What is Waller-Bridge good at ?‎ A. Directing films. B. Designing. C. Performing. D. Writing reports.‎ ‎29. From Paragraph 3 we can know ______________.‎ A. Waller-Bridge grew up in a rich home.‎ B. Waller-Bridge is a bad girl in nature.‎ C. Waller-Bridge family results in her achievements.‎ D. Waller-Bridge’s mother gave her encouragement.‎ ‎30. Who definitely interviewed Waller-Bridge according to the passage?‎ A. Variety magazine. B. The Sun. C. The New Daily. D. Indian Express .‎ ‎31. Which is the most impressive characteristic of Waller-Bridge according to the media?‎ A. Staying true. B. Being hardworking. C. Being talented. D. Being brave.‎ D The world’s elderly population is increasing. The number of older people-those age 60 years or older-is expected to double by 2050 and is growing faster than all younger age groups across the globe. That comes with an increasing need for caregivers which can provide 24-hour care, not only at hospitals or nursing homes, but also at private homes.‎ Already, caregiving robots are programmed to ask questions a nurse would ask and can keep an eye on patients for falls. These robotic assistants are expected to become increasingly marketable and reach 450,000 by 2045 because of the expected caregiver shortage in the USA.‎ ‎“Unluckily, the hard structure of present caregiving robots prevents them from a safe human-robot interaction (互动) , limiting their assistance to only social interaction but not physical interaction,” said Ramses Martinez, an assistant professor in Purdue’s College of Engineering. “After all, would you leave babies or old people in the hands of a robot?”‎ Recent advances in material science have enabled the production of soft robots with deformable (可变形的) bodies or the ability to reshape when touched, but today the complex design prevents the use of this technology at home.‎ However, Martinez and other researchers have developed a new design method which shows promise in enabling the production of soft robots using a 3D printer.‎ ‎“The soft machines move like humans. Their ability to change their body structure and movement to adapt (适应) to a wide variety of environments will improve caregiving greatly,” says Martinez.‎ The researchers are looking for partners to test and bring their technology to market.‎ ‎32. What does the underlined word “That” in Paragraph 1 refer to?‎ A. The group of older people. B. The younger age group.‎ C. The growth of the elderly population. D. The population across the globe.‎ ‎33. What is the disadvantage of the present caregiving robots?‎ A. They can’t communicate with patients. ‎ B. They can’t provide safe physical interaction.‎ C. They can’t provide 24-hour care. ‎ D. They can’t watch patients for falls.‎ ‎34. What do we know about Martinez’s new design method?‎ A. It makes the production of soft robots simpler. ‎ B. It requires a special kind of 3D printer.‎ C. It is hard for users to master. ‎ D. It has been put onto the market.‎ ‎35. What is the text mainly about?‎ A. Robots for the elderly created with 3D printers. ‎ B. The development of caregiving robots.‎ C. The robot industry in the future. ‎ D. Effects of population ageing.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ Your children are watching you. 36 According to the Health Program, developing healthy habits is an important part for your children. And when it comes to developing healthy habits, parents influence their children more than anyone else.‎ ‎37 What happens during those early years can influence children for the rest of their lives. This includes some eating and exercise habits. Children are very careful, even at a young age. Children watch what others do carefully and imitate the behaviors of those closest to them. As parents, you should do the following: 38 If you do that, your children are more likely to be enthusiastic about developing theirs.‎ Let your children see you taking care of your own physical health by eating fruit and vegetables. Talk to them about healthy habits in appropriate terms and at a proper time. 39‎ ‎40 Computers , televisions and other forms of technology are a major part of life in the 21st century. Unfortunately, as the use of technology in the home increases, so does the time spent watching TV or playing on the computer. So as parents, you should also arrange the time for your children wisely.‎ A. This can be helpful to teach your children to form good eating habits.‎ B. One minute it’s hot, and then the next minute it’s cold.‎ ‎(Text 2)‎ M: Do you have an order number there, Mrs. Garcia?‎ W: Yes. It’s TP12FS.‎ M: One moment, please. Ah, yes. I see the problem. TP12FS is the correct number for the purple teapot. The yellow one you wanted is TP12SF.‎ ‎(Text 3)‎ W: So, Martin, what have you been up to? Anything new?‎ M: Well, these days I am writing a book about Cuba. It is interesting but I’m so busy that I don’t have time to do anything else.‎ ‎(Text 4)‎ W: I was so lucky to get a ticket to the concert last night. It was great fun. I went with my father.‎ M: What did you do after the concert?‎ W: I went straight home because I had to finish my homework. OK, Tim. I have to go. See you in class tomorrow.‎ M: Bye. Anyway, I have to go home and finish my homework.‎ ‎(Text 5)‎ M: Look, that’s me when I was eight or nine in the photo, holding a model train engine.‎ W: Was it part of that train set you’ve still got in your room?‎ M: Yeah, my father and I built all that together. We used to spend hours playing with it.‎ ‎(Text 6)‎ W: Hey, Brad. You didn’t take the envelope that was on the kitchen table, did you?‎ M: No, why? Do you want to send a letter?‎ W: Well, actually my new PIN number was in that envelope.‎ M: You’re kidding me, are you?‎ W: No, I’m not. I left it here this morning.‎ M: Go and ask Jill. Maybe she’s seen it.‎ ‎(Text 7)‎ M: Hello, Sarah. Good to see you again. Welcome to the company.‎ W: Thank you. Helen enjoyed it, but the kids didn’t like the food, so we walked to a Chinese restaurant, further along the street.‎ ‎(Text 10)‎ M: Hi, I’m Chris from Florida. Last year, I moved to London, where I’m working for an American company. It’s been a big change, and there have been lots of things to get used to. For example, in the U.S. we drive on the right, while here in Britain I’ve had to get used to driving on the left.‎ What else? Well, the weather in Florida is usually great, so I’m used to lots of sunshine, and I used to sunbathe a lot. In London it rains so much. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it, and I always remember to take my umbrella with me.‎ Food in England is different, too. In America, I used to eat a lot of Mexican food. Here in England, people love Indian food, so I’m getting used to the different tastes. At the company where I work, it’s quite different. I used to work from 9 a.m. till 11 p.m. I hated working so late.‎ ‎ Here in England, I start at 8:30 a.m., but finish at 5 p.m. On Friday evening English people like to go to the club with friends, but in America I used to go to the gym. I love sports.‎ Is there anything else? Some of the words are different. The subway is called the “underground” in London, and British people call the fall “autumn”.‎
