British boys' stress level %%as actually seen to fall over the same time period, from 17 percent to 15 percent. The report's authors pointed out the "advent of the social media age" could be a major contributing factor for increased stress among teenage British girls.‎ ‎“The adolescent years are a time of rapid physical, cognitive and emotional development,” Pam Ramsden, a lecturer in psychology at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, wrote in a recent blog post. “Teenagers interact with people in order to learn how to become competent ‎ adults. In the past, they would engage with parents, teachers and other adults in their community as well as extended family members and friends. Now we can also add social media to that list of social and emotional development.”‎ Throughout adolescence, girls and boys develop characteristics like confidence and self-control. Since teenage brains have not completely developed, teens don't have the cognitive awareness and impulse (冲动) control to keep from posting inappropriate content. Furthermore, this content can easily be spread far and wide with disastrous influences.‎ Social media can also feed into girls' insecurities about their appearance, Ramsden said. These sites are often filled with images of people with body type unattainable to the normal person. However, these images and the messages tied to them gradually become societal standards.‎ ‎“Social media allows girls to make comparisons among friends as well as celebrities and then provides them with ‘solutions’ such as extreme dieting tips and workouts to reach their goals,” Ramsden said. “Concerns about body image can negatively impact their quality of life preventing them from having healthy relationships and taking up time that could be better spent developing other aspects of their personalities.”‎ ‎24. How does the survey tell us the negative impact of social media?‎ A. By making experiments. B. By raising a question.‎ C. By making comparisons. D. By analyzing causes and effects.‎ ‎25. What is Ramsden’s attitude toward the images with fine body shape?‎ A. Supportive. B. Indifferent. C. Critical. D. Concerned.‎ ‎26. How to interact with teenagers in Britain.‎ C Across Britain, burnt toast will be served to mothers in bed  this morning as older sons and daughters to deliver their supermarket bunches of flowers, But, according to a new study, we should be placing a higher value on motherhood all year.‎ Mothers have long known that their home worked was just heavy as paid work. Now, the new study has shown that if they were paid for their parental labors, they would earn as much as$172,000 a year.‎ The study looked at the range of jobs mothers do, as well as the hours they are working, to determine the figure. This would make their yearly income $3000 more than the Prime Minister earns.‎ By analyzing the numbers, it found the average mother works 119 hours a week,40 of which would usually be paid at a standard rate 79 hours as overtime. After questioning 1,000 mothers with children under 18,it found that ,on most days, mums started their routine work at 7am and finished at around 11pm.‎ To calculate just how much mothers would earn from that labor, it suggested some of the roles that mums could take on, including housekeeper, part-time lawyer, personal trainer and entertainer. Being a part-time lawyer, at $48.98 an hour, would prove to be the most profitable of the “mum jibs”, with psychologist a close second.‎ It also asked mothers about the challenges they face, with 80 percent making emotional demand as the hardest thing about motherhood.‎ Over a third of mums felt they needed more training and around half said they missed going out with friends. The study shoes mothers matter all year long and not just on, Mother’s Day. The emotional, physical and mental energy mothers devote to their children can be never-ending, but children are also sources of great joy and happiness. Investing in time for parenting and raising relationships is money well spent.‎ ‎28.How much would a mother earn a year if working as the Prime Minister?‎ A.£30,000.                        B.£142,000.‎ C.£172,000.                       D.£202,000.‎ ‎29.The biggest challenge for most mothers is from        .‎ A. emotional demand                 B. low pay for work C. heavy workload                   D. lack of training ‎30.What is stressed in the last paragraph?‎ A. Mothers’ importance shows in family all year long.‎ B. The sacrifices mothers make are huge but worthwhile.‎ C. Mothers’ devotion to children can hardly be calculated.‎ D. Investing time in parenting would bring a financial return.‎ ‎31.What can we conclude from the study?‎ A. Mothers’ working hours should be largely reduced.‎ B. Mothers should balance their time for work and rest.‎ C. Mothers’ labour is of a higher value than it is realized.‎ D. Mothers should be freed from housework for social life.‎ D Google’s data centers and the offices for its 60,000 staff will be powered entirely by renewable energy from next year, in what the company has called a “landmark moment”. The internet giant is already the world’s biggest corporate buyer of renewable electricity, last year buying 44%of its power from wind and solar farms. Now it will be 100%, and an executive said it would no longer refuse to invest in nuclear power in the future. ‎ Oman said it had taken Google five years to reach the 100% target, set in 2012, because of the complexity involved with negotiating power purchase agreements. The company’s biggest demand for energy is its data centers and it admits their overall thirst for power is growing. ‎ Google was now looking to sign 10-year agreements for low-carbon power that was constant, such as hydro, biomass and nuclear. “We want to do contracts on renewable power, it could be biomass if the fuel source is steady and enough,it could be nuclear. We’re looking at all forms of low-carbon generation.” ‎ But he said new nuclear power was “controversial”, the possible safety consequences were much more “dramatic” than with renewable sources, and the price was “much more difficult to guarantee” than when funding solar panels and wind turbines. “We don’t want to refuse to sign a ‎ nuclear agreement if it meets our goals of low price, safety, and other factors. We don’t want to rule that out, but today we can’t positively say there are nuclear projects out there that meet this standard,” he said. ‎ The company’s 100% renewable energy does not mean Google is getting all its energy directly from wind and solar power, but that on an annual basis the amount it purchases from renewable sources matches the electricity its operations consume. ‎ ‎32.A “landmark moment” for Google refers to___________. ‎ A.its efforts in saving energy ‎ B.its growing demand for employees ‎ C.its progress in using renewable energy ‎ D.its becoming the world’s biggest company ‎ ‎33.What made Google slow in achieving its target? ‎ A.Negotiations of agreements. ‎ B.High consumption of energy. ‎ C.Shortage of energy. ‎ D.The people’s hearing might be affected. ‎ ‎34.What can be inferred from Paragraph 4 ? ‎ A.Nuclear power is an ideal choice. ‎ B.Solar and wind power is not safe enough. ‎ C.It’s unwise to invest solar and wind power. ‎ D.Google is unlikely to use nuclear energy soon. ‎ ‎35.What is the purpose in writing this text? ‎ A.To show Google’s profit goal in global market. ‎ B.To talk about Google’s new move to use energy. ‎ C.To recommend a new kind of renewable energy. ‎ D.To urge the public to use renewable energy.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分) ‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 ‎ Distance runners often worry about "hitting the wall" during training or races, when negative thoughts become so overpowering that they make it difficult to continue. 36 At that time, the body’s glycogen(糖原) supplies become exhausted. As a result, many runners fell exhausted and discouraged, slow their pace, have trouble focusing and want to quit or walk. 37 Here are a few sports psychologist-approved techniques to try, which could have major benefits for an athlete’s performance and well-being.‎ ‎1. Make a motivational song list. Distracting yourself with some great tunes and help you make it to the finish line faster. 38 ‎ ‎2. Try the partner system. A running partner can keep you motivated and on-track, and might even improve your performance, research shows.‎ ‎3. 39 A study on weight-lifters found that mental practices can be as effective as physical practice, resulting in actual muscle increases. Visualizing your if-then plan, for instance, could improve your chance of success.‎ ‎4.Try “attention narrowing”. 40 Last year, an NYU study found that focusing on an object on the horizon makes the distance feel shorter, and leads runners to go faster and perform ‎ better than those who let their minds wander.‎ With these helpful strategies, your next personal record might be just around the corner.‎ A. Plan what to do.‎ B. Visualize achieving your goal.‎ C. Finding ways to move past those kinds of experiences is very vital.‎ D. “Hitting the wall” typically happens around 20 miles into a marathon.‎ E. There is evidence that saying motivational things to oneself benefits a lot.‎ F. Runners who focus their eyes on an object in the distance get there faster.‎ G.
