B The scene in the Hollywood movie The Day After Tomorrow, where global warming could soon turn the global climate into a new ice age, may never occur, according to new research. The next ice age could be 15,000 years away, say European scientists who last month announced a continuous record of 740,000 years of climate data obtained from the Antarctic ice. Scientists from 10 nations have now almost completely drilled through a 3,000-meter depth of ice high in the Antarctic mainland. They figure out that the area where summer temperatures can fall to 40 degrees below zero has at least 900,000 years of snowfalls, kept as neatly as the growth rings of a tree. And the ice and air caught in each layer(层)have begun to answer questions about the climates in the past. The results show that there have been eight ice ages in the past 740,000 years and eight warmer periods .And by comparing the pattern of global conditions today with those of the past, the researchers reported in Nature that the present warm period could last another 15,000 years. Research suggests that there is a very close connection between greenhouse gas levels and global average temperatures. It also shows that carbon dioxide(二氧化碳)levels are the highest for at least 440,000 years. “If people say to you: the greenhouse effect is a good thing because we would go into an ice age otherwise, our data say no, a new ice age is not hanging over our heads,” said Eric Wolff from the British Antarctic Survey. “Now we have eight examples of how the climate goes in and out of ice ages…and you can lean what the rules are that go into the climate models that tell us about the future.” Scientists found that whenever temperatures rose in the frozen record, so did the carbon dioxide level. “In 440,000 years we have never seen the greenhouse gas get as thick as it is today," said Dr Wolf. 24.In drilling through the ice in Antarctica, scientists have found that. A. the lowest temperature there is 40 degrees below zero B. the depth of the ice is 3,000 meters C. the ice has existed for 15,000 years D. snowfalls are kept in certain patterns 25.The information of the global climate conditions in the past can be obtained through. A. separating carbon dioxide from the air B. examining the growth rings of trees C. comparing temperatures in different areas D. studying the ice and air caught in each layer 26.We can infer from Eric Wolf's words that . A. there is something wrong with the data B. the greenhouse effect is always a bad thing C. a new ice age will not come in the near future D. the greenhouse gas will get thicker in the future C Rosalind Franklin was born in London, England on July 25, 1920. On April 16, 1958, at age 38, she died from cancer. Franklin was responsible for much of their search and discovery work that contributed to the understanding of the structure of DNA. Franklin was interested in science and attended one of the few girls' schools in London that taught physics and chemistry. When she was 15, she decided to become a scientist. Her father was decidedly against higher education for women and wanted her to be a social worker. Franklin's aunt decided to support her and she agreed to pay for her schooling. Within weeks, Franklin's aunt got her mother to support her in going to college too. Months later, Franklin's aunt and mother got her father to agree with it. Franklin was very excited that she was going to college and she was very lucky too! After her graduation from college, Franklin started her research on DNA. However, there were so many quarrels in her life because Franklin and her research partner did not get along. Franklin and her partner's arguments heavily set the study of DNA back. At the time they were working against another pair. Due to Franklin and her partner's fights, the opponents found out the structure of DNA first. They won the Nobel Prize for it. And they won the prize four years after Franklin died. Many scientists felt sorry for her and thought that the winners had stolen her research findings. 27.We can learn from the text that Franklin. A. died in her early thirties B. was a really lucky scientist C. achieved a lot in the study of DNA D. didn't get along with her father 28.From the second paragraph we know. A.it was not easy for Franklin to go to college B. Franklin's aunt loved her most C. The Life of a Woman Scientist B.DNA and Good Education C. How Was DNA Found? D. Should Girls Study? 第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白 处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 It's good to make mistakes, and here is why. 31 It's always good to try new things because when you are trying new things you are growing. If you never try anything new, how can you improve? How can you expand? How can you innovate? Look around you-with very few exceptions-either everything you see in your physical world or every single detail of every single thing is the result of someone trying something new. Another good thing about mistakes is here. 32 Consider this: Edison failed 10,000 times before he perfected the light bulb. When asked how it felt to fail that many times, he remarked that he hadn't failed 10,000 times, but had learned 10,000 things that didn't work. Finally, when you make a mistake you are much closer to success. Why? Because when all is said and done, you will have tried a number of things before you succeed. 33 But this doesn't mean that you can go ahead in disregard of the consequence of a mistake. Quite the contrary, you have to be willing to set some reasonable limits if things don't work out in the way you want them to. 34 We all have limited resources in the form of time and money, so don't blow them all on one approach to a problem. Realize that it probably won't be perfect the first time you try a thing and allocate these resources appropriately so you can learn and modify your ways and try it again. Only by embracing and using your mistakes can you make significant advances in your business and career. There is an old saying that goes, “ 35 ” So go forth and make mistakes. And learn. And grow. And prosper. A. First of all, mistakes are a clear sign that you are trying new things. B. Only those who do nothing don't make mistakes. C. If you're not making mistakes, you're not trying hard enough. D. When you are making mistakes, you are learning. E. You should take mistakes as stepping stones to future success. F. You should guarantee you will be in a position to succeed again. G. Every time you make a mistake you remove one of those things and are one step closer to success. 第三部分:语言知识运用(共二节,满分45分) 第一节:完形填空(共20小题,每小题1.5分,满分30分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 A young and successful executive(经理)was traveling down a street, going a bit too fast in his new car. In this article, we will learn about some positive factors for people to share information online. We often share information with our friends in the office or at home to educate, entertain or pleasantly surprise them. In this way we can connect with others. This is also true while sharing information online. If you look at the Facebook wall posts of your friends, you will realize that most of their updates are usually famous quotes, entertaining videos, inspirational images, funny jokes, etc. 94% of those who responded to a survey by the new York Times said they put a lot of thought into how the content they are sharing will be beneficial to others. A lot of people share information online to portray their true self to the outside world. Some people, especially those who are shy and not comfortable talking about their areas of interest in the presence of others, find it extremely convenient to share that information online with like-minded individuals. 78% of the respondents in the study of The New York Times said they shared information online because it helps them develop better relationships. Today, a lot of people do not have the time to meet each other in person, and the Internet has become a great substitute. A lot of people now “meet” each other online, rather than in conventional places like restaurants and pubs. Lastly, when we share our thoughts online, we are actively engaging with the vast community of people who are a part of the World Wide Web. Sharing information will make a difference to the viewpoint of others, or add to their understanding about the world. _____________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________第二节:书面表达(满分15分) 以“礼物”为主题写一篇作文。该文章必须包括以下内容: 1.你送礼物的对象及所送的礼物; 2.该礼物对他(她)可能产生的影响或带来的变化。 注意: 1. 词数100左右; 2. 可以适当增加细节,以使行文连贯。 _____________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ 参考答案: 1-5 BACAC 6-10 CBCBA 11-15 CAACB 16-20CAABC 21-23 CCD 24-26 DDC 26-30 CADA 31-35 ADGEC 36-40 BCABA 41-45 DCBAA 46-50 CCAAA 51-55 CDABC 56.it考查代词。it指代Miami。 57.earlier 考查副词。six months earlier六个月前。 58.were told 考查时态和语态。因为叙述的是过去发生的事情且we与tell之间是被动关系,所以本句使用一般过去时的被动语态。 59.but 考查连词。not..…but..不是……而是…。此处表示句意的转折。 60.why/how 考查宾语从句的连接词。我不理解为什么会发生这样的事。/我不理解这样的事是如何发生的。 61.for 考查介词。charge...for.向……收(费)。 62.surprisingly 考查副词。此处修饰形容词helpful,所以应使用surprise的副词形式surprisingly。 63.the 考查冠词。the top floor顶层。 64.where考查定语从句。因为先行词是地点名词,关系词在定语从句中作状语,所以填where。 65.sunburnt/sunburned 考查过去分词。get sunburn/sunburned晒伤。 概要写作参考范文: People increasingly share information online for several positive reasons. When I visited him one day, he told me that he was afraid of learning English and was not sure he could follow his teacher. When I went back home I began to recall how I learned English. I think the most important thing in learning English is speaking. In order to speak English well, we need a tape recorder to imitate. So I decided to send my brother a tape recorder as a gift and told him how to use the tape recorder to learn English. After my brother got the tape recorder, he began to listen to English and imitate speaking on the recorder every day. Some days later, when I went to visit him again, he told me that English is very interesting and is easy to learn. He was not afraid of it any more. 查看更多
