Unit 3   Fascinating Parks     The world’s first theme park in the modern sense—California Disneyland In 1955, Walt Disney, an imaginative and creative American animation pioneer, opened the first modern amusement park in California. It was not only the first Disneyland, but also the world’s first modern theme park named Disneyland, the official name of which is Disneyland park. Walt Disney took the famous mountains of Switzerland as the blueprint for the design of the mountain “park”. Disney has recreated Mickey Mouse and other cartoon characters in a 64. 7 hectare theme park 35 km from Los Angeles. With life-size cartoon images in the paradise, visitors can drive the car, on the Mississippi Zhu car, play in the medieval castles, or walk on the streets of the United States. Today, in addition to Disneyland in Los Angeles, California, Orlando Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, Paris Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, Tokyo Disney ocean world and other theme parks have been built. Disneyland in Los Angeles, California, was the first Disneyland in the world. It opened on July 17, 1955. When completed, the superpark cost $17 million.
