‎ A ‎ We brush our teeth daily, but do you know everything you need to know about dental care and hygiene? Believe it or not, there is a lot more than most people realize. Luckily, here are several apps that can help you.‎ ‎ ● Brush DJ ‎ You should brush your teeth for full two minutes as recommended by dentists, but that time can be difficult to judge. Many recommend you listen to music, because many songs are just around two minutes in length. Brush DJ has loads of great tunes that will get you into the two-minute habit. There are both songs to listen to, and videos to watch, and you’ll find a variety of awesome tunes.‎ ‎ ● Orasphere ‎ It’s recommended that Orasphere videos be used by dentists for their patients, so they can learn about procedures. You’ll find loads of great articles that have the latest news about dentistry. Those interested in dental careers will find plenty of information to head them in the right direction, and there’s even a section devoted to public dental programs, including Give Kids a Smile and Fluoride in Water.‎ ‎ ●DDS GP ‎ Here is more presentation software that explains all types of dental procedures. This is helpful for dentists to have, because they can better explain procedures to their patients.‎ ‎ ●Dentistry IQ ‎ You can find information for dentists, hygienists, assistants, office managers, and more at Dentistry IQ. You can also get information about new products, clinical ‎ practices, and much more. In addition, you can learn about career opportunities, the most recent practices, and a whole lot more.‎ ‎1. D. Dentistry IQ.‎ B ‎ In the fall of 1985, I was a bright-eyed girl heading off to Howard University, aiming at a legal career and dreaming of sitting on a Supreme Court bench somewhere. Twenty-one years later I am still a bright-eyed dreamer and one with quite a different tale to tell.‎ ‎ My grandma, an amazing woman, graduated from college at the age of 65. She was the first in our family to reach that goal. But one year after I started college, she developed cancer. I made the choice to withdraw from college to care for her. It meant that school and my personal dream would have to wait.‎ ‎ Then I got married with another dream: building my family with a combination of adopted and biological children. In 1999, we adopted our first son. To lay eyes on him was fantastic---and very emotional. A year later came our second adopted boy. Then followed son No. 3. In 2003, I gave birth to another boy.‎ ‎ You can imagine how fully occupied I became, raising four boys under the age of 8! Our home was a complete zoo — a joyous zoo. Not surprising, I never did make it back to college full-time. But I never gave up on the dream either. I had only one choice: to find a way. That meant taking as few as one class each semester.‎ ‎ The hardest part was feeling guilty about the time I spent away from the boys. They often wanted me to stay home with them. There certainly were times I wanted to quit, but I knew I should set an example for them to follow through the rest of their lives.‎ ‎ In 2007, I graduated from the University of North Carolina. It took me over 21 years to get my college degree!‎ ‎ I am not special, just single-minded. It always struck me that when you’re looking at a big challenge from the outside it looks huge, but when you’re in the midst of it, it just seems normal. Everything you want won’t arrive in your life on one day. It’s a process. Remember: little steps add up to big dreams.‎ ‎5. When the author went to Howard University, her dream was to be_________.‎ A. a writer B. a doctor C. a judge D. a journalist ‎6. Why did the author quit school in her second year of college?‎ A. Her grandma asked her to withdraw from college.‎ B. She fell in love and got married. C. She had so many children to support that she was too busy to continue her college.‎ D. She decided to look after her grandma. ‎ ‎7. What does the author mostly want to tell us in the last paragraph?‎ A. Failure is the mother of success. B. Little by little, one goes far.‎ C. Every coin has two sides. D. Well begun, half done. ‎ ‎8. Which of the following can best describe the author? A. Caring and determined. B. Honest and responsible. C. Ambitious and sensitive. D. Innocent and single-minded.‎ ‎ C ‎ After students come home from a tiring day at school, they tend to worry a lot about their homework.‎ ‎ Whether students are working on English or chemistry homework, they are simply working on the assignment in order to get it done, attempting to memorize the concepts for the time being and do not absorb any of the information afterward. Students are wasting their time on insignificant assignments rather than effectively using that time to achieve other accomplishments. According to www.dailymail.com, many parents are concerned that homework is being assigned rather than being used to integrate what teachers are covering in the classroom. In their eyes, if less homework is assigned, students would have much less stress and could focus more on their passions and hobbies.‎ ‎ Homework gets in the way of participating in community service events as well as opportunities for getting a job or being a part of an extra-curricular activity. These responsibilities are important for teenagers to take on because they prepare the ‎ teenagers for the "real world." Without the proper exposure to work that is not school related, students will find themselves lost after they graduate. If homework were no longer given, students would have a lot more time to mature in other fields rather than being educated only on academics.‎ ‎ In spite of the fact that teachers want students to do better on tests and absorb the material that they are teaching, homework is not accomplishing its purpose. Because school is becoming increasingly more competitive and challenging, homework is becoming a setback rather than extra practice. Its removal would benefit the well being of teenagers as well as encourage them to get out in the "real world" and discover themselves instead of staring at a pile of assignments.‎ ‎9. Students are wasting their time on insignificant homework because___________.‎ A. they are working on it carelessly and hurriedly B. they attempt to get only part of the information memorized C. they spend too much time doing it without understanding D. they fail to take in the information after finishing it ‎10. From the third paragraph, we can infer that homework might ___________.‎ A. guarantee students more job opportunities B. make students lose the sense of responsibilities C. weaken students' social adaptation ability D. cause students to feel lost after graduation ‎11. The author insists that homework should be ___________.‎ A. made simpler and easier B. got rid of ‎ C. connected with social activities D. switched over to subject competitions D ‎ Your house may have an effect on your figure. Experts say the way you design your home could play a role in whether you pack on the pounds or keep them off . You can make ‎ your environment work for you instead of against you . Here are some ways to turn your home into part of diet plan.‎ ‎ Open the curtains and turn up the lights.Dark environments are more likely to encourage overeating , for people are often less self-conscious(难为情)when they are in poorly lit places-and so more likely to eat lots of food. If your home doesn’t have enough window light, get more lamps and flood the place with brightness.‎ ‎ Mind the colors. Research suggests warm colors fuel our appetites. In one study, people who ate meals in a blue room consumed 33 percent less than those in a yellow or red room . Warm colors like yellow make food appear more appetizing, while cold colors make us feel less hungry. So when it’s time to repaint, go blue.‎ ‎ Don’t forget the clock-or the radio. People who eat slowly tend to consume about 70 fewer calories(卡路里) per meal than those who rush through their meals. Begin keeping track of the time, and try to make dinner last at least 30 minutes, And while you’re at it, actually sit down to eat. If you need some help slowing down, turn on relaxing music. It makes you less likely to rush through a meal.‎ ‎ Downsize the dishes, Big serving bowls and plates can easily make us fat. We eat about 22 percent more when using a 12-inch plate instead of a 10-inch plate. When we choose a large spoon over a smaller one, total intake(摄入) jumps by 14 percent. And we’ll pour about 30 percent more liquid into a short, wide glass than a tall, skinny glass.‎ ‎12.The text is especially helpful for those who care about_______.‎ A. their home comforts B. their body shape C. house buying D. healthy diets ‎13.A home environment in blue can help people_________.‎ A. digest food better B. reduce food intake ‎ C. burn more calories D. regain their appetites ‎14.What are people advised to do at mealtimes?‎ A. Eat quickly. B. Play fast music. C. Use smaller spoons. D. Turn down the lights.‎ ‎15.What can be a suitable title for the test?‎ A. Is Your House Making You Fat? B. Ways of Serving Dinner C. Effects of Self-Consciousness D.
