The plastic bag, which contained pieces of paper and cardboard, was later recovered outside the gallery, but the artist thought that it was too damaged to be put on show again. 78yearold Mr Metzger explained that the exhibit, which he said was a copy of a similar work he had created in 1960, was meant to show that all art is temporary and “finite ‎ (有限的)”.‎ Embarrassed officials at the museum said that they had had to call a meeting with cleaners to explain which things should not be touched. They would not say whether Mr Metzger would be paid any compensation for the incident. However, to make absolutely sure the same thing would not happen again, they decided to cover Mr Metzger's work every evening with a coloured cloth. In this way the cleaners arriving after the gallery had been closed to the general public would realize they should not touch it.‎ This is not the first time that museum cleaners have had trouble distinguishing exhibits from rubbish. In 2001, in another London gallery, a cleaner threw away a work by the wellknown British artist Damien Hirst. It was an arrangement of empty beer bottles, coffee cups, and overflowing ashtrays, which were meant to indicate the chaos in the life of an artist.‎ However, cleaners don't always throw things away — sometimes they clean them! This was the case with a dirty bath, which was on show in a gallery in Germany. Without asking what the bath was doing in the gallery, the cleaners simply scrubbed it clean.‎ 语篇解读:本文是一篇记叙文,介绍了在美术馆工作的清洁工错误地将现代艺术作品当成垃圾扔掉的故事。‎ ‎1.The officials of the museum covered Mr Metzger's work so that ________.‎ A.the visitors couldn't get close in the evening B.they could get recovered soon C.the cleaners wouldn't make the same mistake D.they would return to normal 解析:选C 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“However,to make absolutely sure the same thing would not happen again, they decided to cover ... with a coloured cloth.” ‎ ‎2.Which of the following is NOT true?‎ A.People have different opinions on modern art.‎ B.Mr Metzger would be paid much compensation.‎ C.A work of Damien Hirst was thrown away by a cleaner in 2001.‎ D.Some modern work is about the chaos of an artist's life.‎ 解析:选B 细节理解题。 ‎ ‎3.The last paragraph is written to show that________.‎ A.cleaners often make exhibits as clean as possible B.cleaners can't always differ exhibits from rubbish C.exhibits are usually difficult to clean D.exhibits are not always so beautiful 解析:选B 推理判断题。 ‎ ‎4.What's the best title of the passage?‎ A.Cleaners mistake modern art for rubbish B.Modern art shouldn't be cleaned C.What makes a great work of art D.Cleaners don't always throw things away 解析:选A 标题归纳题。 ‎ B ‎(China daily) President Xi Jinping urged the leaders of the world's biggest economies to deliver “real action” and “no empty talk” as they attempt to help the global economy out of its slow state.‎ In his opening speech at the start of the twoday G20 Summit on Sunday, he said the G20 had drawn up action plans in multiple fields, including sustainable development, green finance, energy efficiency and anticorruption, “and we should carry out each of them seriously”.‎ The Hangzhou summit has come at a time when the world economy is troubled by problems, short and long term, such as poor growth, changing population, rising trade protectionism and low investment, Xi said. But he insisted that G20 members will “face the problems directly” and cooperate in developing solutions.‎ World leaders vowed at the meeting to find workable ‎ solutions to restore strong growth and achieve moreinclusive development that reduces inequality. They also agreed that more focus should be placed on structural reforms, innovation and hightechnology, as traditional growth engines have weakened.‎ German Prime Minister Merkel said leaders had agreed that they must work together to boost global economic growth, and she welcomed China's focus on structural reform.‎ She added that digital ministers from the world's biggest economies will meet for the first time next year and that the group planned to set up a task force for innovation, Reuters reported.‎ Xi said in his speech that while the world needs to better coordinate monetary and fiscal policies and carry out structural reforms, priority should be given to achieving balanced growth. He said the G20 will help lessdeveloped countries, including those in Africa, with industrialization as well as green energy and finance to bridge the gaps in global development.‎ The G20 has been criticized in the past for failing to take concrete measures to coordinate world economies. While urging members to take real action, Xi said the group “should continue to build our systems to ensure our cooperation continues and deepens”.‎ ‎“The G20 is becoming more systematic and is changing from ‎ a shortterm arrangement to handle crises to a longterm dialogue and action mechanism,” according to Chen Wenling, chief economist at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges. “To make it more effective, the G20 should establish a secretariat.”‎ Wang Wen, acting director of Renmin University of China's Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, added: “The G20 used to be driven by crises, and now it's driven by ideas. China has provided a global consensus at the Hangzhou summit that will drive global joint action.”‎ 语篇解读:本文是一篇新闻报道。 ‎ ‎5.What's the common goal of the leaders of the G20 in this Summit in Hangzhou?‎ A.To listen to President Xi's report.‎ B.To help out the slow global economy.‎ C.To develop green finance.‎ D.To criticize the past wrong doings.‎ 解析:选B 细节理解题。 ‎ ‎6.What restricted the development of the world economy according to President Xi?‎ A.Energy efficiency.‎ B.Anticorruption.‎ C.Sustainable development.‎ D.Rising trade protectionism.‎ 解析:选D 细节理解题。 ‎ ‎7.How did German Prime Minister Merkel think of China's structural reform?‎ A.It's empty talk. ThreeD printers are used to make ‎ everything from automobile parts to bone replacements for human patients. American research scientists are now working on creating replacements for living tissue. ‎ Researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina have been working on creating and manufacturing living tissue since 2003. This process is called biofabrication It requires special printing equipment and a special kind of ink.‎ Traditional printers require ink to produce an image or design on a piece of paper. For their threeD printer, the South Carolina researchers prepare complex nutritious solutions they call bioinks. Bioinks are made of proteins and glucose (葡萄糖), which normally provides energy for most cells of the body. The researchers also add living cells taken from the animal that will receive the new, printed tissue. The bioinks are then added to a device that researchers call the Palmetto bioprinter.‎ Sarah Grace Dennis is one of the researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina. She says new technology, like the Palmetto bioprinter, is a great help to the biofabrication process.‎ The bioinks are placed in three dispensers (分配器), containers, inside the printer. Lasers control both the position of the printing surface and the places where the bioink is released.‎ Michael Yost is a leader of the research team. He says the printing process is fully automated — machineoperated. He says that the Palmetto bioprinter makes it possible to create complex tissue types.‎ The researchers say bioprinting is still experimental. But they hope in a few years they may be able to print tissue to replace damaged human organs.‎ But there are still some problems which need to be solved. Some scientists worry about how to get blood to the replacement tissue. The flow of blood is important to keep the printed tissue alive.‎ Michael Yost hopes that more people will believe in the benefits of biofabrication.‎ ‎“Tissue biofabrication is a reality, and it is a reality now, and if you come here and you get to see it. You will get to see it. You can't touch it, but you will see it and think this is real. And this is really human.”‎ 语篇解读:本文是一篇说明文。 ‎ ‎9.What can we know about the bioinks?‎ A.They are the necessities of bioprinting.‎ B.They only contain proteins and glucose.‎ C.They can be placed in the traditional printers.‎ D.They are available in our local drugstores.‎ 解析:选A 推理判断题。 A。‎ ‎10.Which of the following is one of the concerns with biofabrication?‎ A.Researchers can't find enough living cells of animals to make the bioinks.‎ B.The price of the bioprinter is too high and most people can't afford it.‎ C.Scientists have some difficulty in getting the blood to the replacement tissue.‎ D.People are worried about the safety of the biofabrication process.‎ 解析:选C 细节理解题。 C。‎ ‎11.According to Michael Yost, we can infer that ________.‎ A.the Palmetto bioprinter can work without power B.the Palmetto bioprinter has been used to treat the patients C.the Palmetto bioprinter can only be found in the United States D.the Palmetto bioprinter will have a bright future in medical use 解析:选D 推理判断题。根据第六段最后一句“He says that ‎ the Palmetto bioprinter makes it possible to create complex tissue types.” D。‎ ‎12.The passage mainly tells us about ________.‎ A.the threeD printer and its working principles B.the bioinks and their use in bioprinting C.the spread use of the bioprinter in the USA D.the growing demand for biofabrication 解析:选B 主旨大意题。 B。‎ D Assistant Professor, Musical Theatre Dance Wichita State University seeks a fulltime, 9month assistant professor, beginning in August.
