One of the acclaimed activities is the bungee jump. The AJ Hackett Macao Tower Bungee Jump is 233 meters high, making it the highest commercial bungee jump in the world. Raise your arms and off you go! As a result, Portuguese culture is deeply immersed into many comers of Macao. Many Portuguese settled and opened Portuguese restaurants in the special administrative region, but the flavor is more adaptable to Chinese people.‎ Marking at the Ruins of St. Paul The Ruins of St. Paul is the signature landmark of Macao. The ruins consist of the St. Paul's College and the Church of St. Paul, built in 1583. However, after three intense fires in 1595, 1601 and 1835, the church was seriously damaged. It is beyond belief that after the vigorous cycles of rebuilding and fires, the huge surface and the front stairway remain unburned.‎ Visiting a museum Macao, as a tiny city with only an area of 30.5 square kilometers, has 23 eye-catching museums. Their caretakers bandaged their wounds, wrapped them and laid them in baskets with the only thing that was familiar -- the leaves of a eucalyptus (桉树) tree.‎ As catastrophic fires have burned more than two million acres in Australia, dozens of koalas have been rescued from burning trees and ashen ground. The animals, already threatened as a species before these latest fires destroyed an essential habitat, are being treated in rescue centers, and at least one private home, along the country’s east coast.‎ The difficult situation of the koala—a national symbol of Australia—has raised questions among conservationists and scientists about what it will take to preserve biodiversity in a country increasingly exposed to intense fire, extreme heat and water scarcity, and which already has among the highest rates of species extinction in the world.‎ While koalas have evolved to exist alongside wildfires, the animals are facing new threats not just from climate change but also from human development, which has dislocated local populations, damaging their ability to survive fires. In some regions, scientists say, koalas’ numbers have declined by up to 80 percent, though it is difficult to know how many remain across Australia.‎ ‎“We have these unique animals not found anywhere else on this planet, and we’re killing them,” said Cheyne Flanagan, the clinical director of the Koala Hospital, the only facility of its kind in the world. “This is a big wake-up call.”‎ ‎24. What happened to koalas after the catastrophic fires in Australia?‎ A. Most of koalas have been rescued from burning trees.‎ B. The koalas were taken good care of after being rescued.‎ C. The victims only suffered from severe burns and a lack of water.‎ D. Koalas have been listed among the highest rates of species extinction.‎ ‎25. What’s the author’s attitude towards the situation of Koala?‎ A. worried B. supportive C. indifferent D. negative ‎27. What might be the best title for the passage?‎ A. Climate Changes --- A Big Wake-up Call ‎ B. Saving the Fire Victims Who Cannot Flee C. Catastrophic Wildfires Burning in Australia ‎ D. Koala --- A National Symbol of Australia C Parents around the world often urge children over and over-wash your hands! It can be difficult, however, to get children to remember to wash. But what if washing hands was connected to a fun creative activity? What if instead of simply reaching for the soap, a machine could drop it right into your hands?‎ Well, such a machine was recently built by a boy and his sister in the U.S. state of Maryland as part of a creative competition. The not-for-profit Rube Goldberg Organization is holding the competition.‎ Every year, the Rube Goldberg competition assigns a specific task, considering inventions that use complex systems to carry out a simple everyday task. At first, the task for 2020 was supposed to be “turn on a light.” But when the COVID-19 happened, the task was changed to “drop a bar of soap into someone’s hand.”‎ Those taking part in the competition are schoolchildren. But with schools closed to slow the spread of the virus, organizers changed the rules. This year, the team can include any family members and people were asked to send in recordings of the machines to compete. One thing has not changed: The machine must complete the task in less than 10 steps.‎ In Maryland, the Diel family wanted to enter. So, Caitlin and her brother Ben designed and built their own Rube Goldberg machine. Next, they had to demonstrate that it could complete the task-throwing the soap just right to be caught in someone’s hand. After 106 failed attempts, they finally had success. With their video demonstration, they can now enter the competition.‎ Dr. Anne Glowinski teaches child psychiatry (精神病学) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She said that “creativity and play” connects with children. It is better than the message. “We have to wash our hands because of this horrible virus”. Glowinski added.‎ ‎28. What might be a task of inventions assigned by the Rube Goldberg competition?‎ A. Painting the house. B. Exploring nature. ‎ C. Writing a novel. D. Sweeping the floor.‎ ‎29. What change has been made to the rules of the competition this year?‎ A. A video of the entry is qualified to enter. ‎ B. All kinds of inventions are admitted.‎ C. Teachers are encouraged to get involved. ‎ D. The task must be finished within 10 steps.‎ ‎30. What does Glowinski think of the invention?‎ A. Economical. B. Unnecessary. ‎ C. Practical. D. Complicated.‎ ‎31. What’s the purpose of the text?‎ A. To introduce a contest making handwashing fun for kids.‎ B. To encourage more inventions from everyday items.‎ C. To call on schoolchildren to compete in a contest.‎ D. To advocate the habit of washing hands.‎ D Hardware in general, and smartphones in particular, have become a huge environmental and health problem in the Global South's landfill sites (垃圾填埋场).‎ Electronic waste (e-waste) currently takes up 5 percent of all global waste, and it is set to ‎ increase rapidly as more of us own more than one smartphone, laptop and power bank. They end up in places like Agbogbloshie on the outskirts of Ghana's capital, Accra. It is the biggest e-waste dump in the world, where 10,000 informal workers walk through tons of abandoned goods as part of an informal recycling process. They risk their health searching for the precious metals that are found in abandoned smartphones.‎ But Agbogbloshie should not exist. The Basel Convention, a 1989 treaty, aims to prevent developed nations from unauthorized dumping of e-waste in less developed countries. The e-waste industry, however, circumvents the regulations by exporting e-waste labelled as "secondhand goods" to poor countries like Ghana, knowing full well that it is heading for a landfill site.‎ A recent report found Agbogbloshie contained some of the most dangerous chemicals. This is not surprising: smartphones contain chemicals like mercury(水银), lead and even arsenic(砷). Reportedly, one egg from a free-range chicken in Agbogbloshie contained a certain chemical which can cause cancer and damage the immune system at a level that's about 220 times greater than a limit set by the European Food Safety Authority(EFSA). Most worryingly, these poisonous chemicals are free to pollute the broader soil and water system. This should concern us all, since some of Ghana's top exports are cocoa and nuts.‎ Some governments have started to take responsibility for their consumers' waste. For example, Germany has started a project that includes a sustainable(可持续的) recycling system at Agbogbloshie, along with a health clinic for workers. However, governments cannot solve the problem alone, as there is an almost limitless consumer demand for hardware, especially when governments green policies are focused on issues like climate change.‎ Only the manufacturers can fix this. A more economically sustainable and politically possible solution is through encouraging hardware manufacturers to make the repair, reuse and recycling of hardware profitable, or at least cost-neutral.‎ ‎32.What can we infer from Paragraph 2?‎ A. Electronic products need improving urgently.‎ B. Electronic waste is too complex to get fully recycled.‎ C. Electronic pollution is a burning question in Agbogbloshie.‎ D. Electronic waste requires more landfill sites across Ghana.‎ ‎33.What does the underlined word "circumvents" in Paragraph 3 mean?‎ A. Gets around. B. Abolishes. C. Brings in. D. Tightens. ‎ ‎34.What should be the biggest concern according to the text?‎ A. The damage to chicken's immune system. ‎ B. The threat of polluted food around the world.‎ C. The violation of EFSA's standards. ‎ D. The lack of diversity in Ghana's exports.‎ ‎35.What does the author think is the best solution to the e-waste problem?‎ A. Letting governments take on the main responsibility.‎ B. Reducing customers' demands for electronic products.‎ C. Governments' adjusting their green policies about e-waste.‎ D. Manufacturers' developing a sustainable hardware economy.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ The Hotel Wake-up Call Gets Personal Here’s a wake-up call: The hotel front desk will do one better than ringing your phone in the morning. They’ll send an actual human being to your room. Don’t worry. They won’t come in and kiss you good morning. 36 ‎ Never mind that most travelers nowadays have smart phones with built-in alarm clocks. 37 Here are some examples. At the Wolcott Hotel, if a wake-up call is unanswered, they will send an employee to your door. At Las Ventanas al Paraiso, an employee shows up at your room to wake you up with tea, coffee and breakfast bread. At the Mandarin Oriental, a person rather than an automated system will call to wake you up. 38 ‎ Hotels have always taken the wake-up call seriously. 39 If you don’t get your call within five minutes of the requested time, you won’t have to pay for your room. Travelers, too, still want to have an option of a wake-up call. A study of 285 guests at Crown Plaza found that 53% considered a wake-up call very important.‎ ‎ 40 In the late 1980s, hotels turned to automated systems. Then all you’d get was a ring and silence. In the ever-competitive race for loyal customers, however, many hotels are now getting creative with the wake-up call. Some hotels even have recordings of celebrity voices. And more hotels will go back to the old in-person system of wake up calls.‎ A. Some guests sleep through the call, while others turn their phone ringers off.‎ B. The human wake-up call is a way to personalize a guest's stay.‎ C. The hotel gets 15 to 30 requests for wake-up calls each day.‎ D. Crown Plaza, for instance, has a wake-up call guarantee.‎ E. But the wake-up call became less personal over the years.‎ F. If you don’t answer, you’ll get a wake-up knock.‎ G. But they might bring you coffee.‎ 第三部分 语言运用(共两节, 满分30分)‎ 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分, 满分15分)‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。‎ Dear teenage boy at the skate park,‎ You’re probably about 15 years old, so I don’t expect you to be very____41____to want a little girl on your skate ramp (溜冰坡道).‎ My daughter has been wanting to skateboard for months. They always played together and went home together. One day Robert and Henry were going home from school, when, on turning a corner, Robert cried out, “A fight! Let’s go and see!”‎ ‎“No,” said Henry. “Let us go quietly home and not meddle with(插手) this quarrel. We have nothing to do with it and may get into trouble. Also our parents are expecting to have dinner with ‎ us together at home and I don’t want them to worry about me. ”‎ ‎“You are a coward, and afraid to go,” said Robert, and off he ran. Henry went straight home, and in the afternoon went to school as usual.‎ But Robert had told all the boys that Henry was a coward, and they laughed at him a great deal. From then on, they looked down upon Henry and didn’t want to play with him together.‎ Henry was sad but he wasn’t angry with Robert for his rude behavior, because he learned that true courage is shown most in bearing misunderstanding when it was not deserved, and that he ought to be afraid of nothing but doing wrong. Thus, he just ignored the other boys’ laughter and continued to go to school and study as well. However, Robert didn’t invite Henry to go home with him anymore. Instead, he had some other boys who also thought Henry was a coward. Every day after school, they didn’t go home directly but went to the river or somewhere to play games and had a lot of fun.‎ A few days later, Robert was bathing with his new friends in a river, and got out of his depth. He struggled, and screamed for help, but all in vain. The boys who had called Henry a coward got out of the water as fast as they could, but they did not even try to help him.‎ 注意:‎ ‎1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;‎ ‎2.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好。‎ Paragraph 1: Robert was fast sinking. ______________________________________________‎ ‎______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________‎ ‎______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________‎ Paragraph 2: Thus, Robert’s life was saved.‎ ‎_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________‎ ‎______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________‎ ‎【参考答案】‎ 听力部分 (1.5分/个; 满分30分)‎ ‎1-5 BBBAC 6-10 CACBA 11-15 CBBAC 16-20 ABCAC 阅读理解 (2.5分/个; 满分37.5分)‎ ‎21-25 BDCBD 26-30 ABDAC 31-35 ACABD 七选五 (2.5分/个; 满分12.5分)‎ ‎36-40 GBFDE 完形填空 (1分/个; 满分 15分)‎ ‎41-45 BADCB 46-50 CACBD 51-55 DABBD 语法填空 (1.5分/个; 满分15分)‎ ‎56. for 57. so 58. destruction 59. means 60. healthily ‎ ‎61. improving 62. has declined 63. rarest 64. 1ength 65. which 应用文(15分)‎ Dear peter,‎ How is everything going? Knowing that you are good at singing, I am writing to invite you to join us to record an online chorus video.‎ In order to encourage the people who have been infected by the virus and the doctor, nurses and other people who are offering help at the very frontier, we have decided to record a song called One World Together. If you are interested, please record your own part of the song, and then send the file to me. Because time is limited, you are supposed to finish it before February 25th. According to the rule, the recording file is in MP4 format and controlled within 20M, which will make the transmission much easier.‎ ‎ I am sincerely hope that you can join us. Looking forward to your reply.‎ Yours,‎ Li Hua 读后续写(25分)‎ Robert was fast sinking. It seemed as if Robert would be drowned. Just at the moment, Henry happened to be passing by. Hearing the screams, Henry ran to the riverside, threw off his clothes and jumped into the water without hesitation. He reached Robert just as he was sinking the last ‎ time. By great effort, and with much danger to himself, he brought Robert to the shore.‎ Thus, Robert’s life was saved. Robert and his new friends were ashamed at having called Henry a coward. They realized that Henry had true courage. They said sorry to Henry for their rude behavior and asked for his forgiveness. Henry forgave them happily. He and Robert were friends again and they went home together as usual. From this, Robert learned what true courage was: never be afraid to do good, but always fear to do evil.‎
