Anguita felt joy in doing that, so the next day, she wrote another note, this time to a colleague helping her at work. The day after, she sent a handwritten note to a helpful shop assistant. And then to her sister, an airport safety officer, her mom, and a list of many others who have played both large and small roles in her life.‎ The daily habit completely changed her life.‎ ‎“It's such a simple practice, but I am now more at peace, less stressed, healthier, and just happier, every single day,”says Anguita, 55, who can count on two fingers the number of days she's missed since starting her daily letter-writing practice four years ago.“I knew if this could do so much to affect me, it could help others.”‎ In 2017, Anguita started Spread Thanks, writing a book under the same name, designed to encourage others to join in the gratitude (感恩). Through her book and in-person workshops (讲习班), Anguita teaches a daily, three-step practice: write a thank-you note, pay attention to the positive happenings of each day, and record one happy moment from the last 24 hours.‎ ‎“It forces you to notice all of the gifts that you're given, every single day, most of which we don't recognize because we're so busy,” says Andrea Wilczynski, a working mother of two from Yardley who started using the Spread Thanks practice a year ago.“At the beginning, the response feels shocking — I have a whole box of thank-you notes for my thank-you notes, each of which makes you realize how much you're actually touching people. That uplifts your own spirit, and it ‎ creates this cycle of positivity.”‎ A growing body of research proves that expressing gratitude can improve both mental (精神的) and physical health. Studies link gratefulness to improving heart health and reducing pain and depression. Those who are grateful are shown to be generally happier and show a greater sense of overall well-being, too.‎ ‎24. What is Anguita used to doing?‎ A. Talking with strangers. B. Writing thank-you notes.‎ C. Practicing her handwriting. D. Helping people with their work.‎ ‎25. How has Anguita helped others express their thanks?‎ A. By organizing charity activities.‎ B. What is the last paragraph mainly about?‎ A. How to live a healthy life. B. The cause of pain and depression.‎ C. How to build strong relationships. D. The advantages of expressing gratitude.‎ C While biking is generally safe at Stanford, all it takes is one unfortunate crash to change a student's life immediately. Bike crashes happen. But wearing a helmet (头盔) can change the outcome. Consider the story of two students.‎ Stanford student Kali Lindsay was riding her bike to meet her teacher at the library. She never made it. Instead, Kali ended up in Stanford Hospital with her concerned parents at her bedside. It isn't clear how the accident happened. However, what is clear is that Kali wasn't wearing a helmet when she fell from her bike. She ended up unconscious (昏迷的). Luckily, she finally recovered and returned to Stanford.‎ Stanford student Anna Polishchuk had a different outcome. She was hit by a car while biking on campus (在校园里). Anna hit the window of the car, which was going about 10 miles per hour. ‎ She was thrown unconscious two car lengths away. Although the crash was terrible, Anna escaped with minor injuries, which she attributes to (归因于) wearing a helmet.‎ To help parents have a conversation with their child about the importance of wearing a bike helmet, Ariadne Delon Scott, assistant director of active mobility at Stanford, offers some key messages: Wear a bike helmet for every ride, even short trips. There are many excuses students make up for choosing not to wear a helmet. But how do these reasons stand up to the risk of brain injury — or worse — in a bike crash?‎ Follow the rules of the road. Did you know that bicyclists need to follow almost all of the same laws as motorists? This includes stopping at stop signs, using lights at night and so on.‎ Don't be a distracted rider. In our research into bike crashes on campus for the past three years, it appears the primary cause is distracted bike riding — hitting a fixed object, losing control of the bike. Too often, we see students riding while looking down and texting — with both hands!‎ ‎28.Why does the author compare Kali's experience with Anna's?‎ A. To stress the importance of wearing a helmet.‎ B. To warn students not to ride bikes on campus.‎ C. To show the result of not following traffic rules.‎ D. To explain how to avoid road accidents on campus.‎ ‎29. Which would Ariadne most probably agree with?‎ A. Bikes shouldn't be allowed on campus.‎ B. Bike crashes happen frequently at Stanford.‎ C. Parents are responsible for students' bike crashes.‎ D. Bikers should always pay attention to the traffic signals.‎ ‎30. What does the last paragraph suggest?‎ A. Bike quality really matters.‎ B. Riding at full speed is dangerous.‎ C. Attention should be paid to road manners.‎ D. Using a phone on a bike should be avoided.‎ ‎31. Who is the text written for?‎ A. Doctors. B. Teachers. C. Parents. D. Children.‎ D My wife Karen is good at gardening. No matter what she plants, it always seems to grow well. She once put a dead stick into the ground and turned it into a mango tree. Like dogs and cats that seem to naturally recognize a pet-friendly human, plants know my wife. She loves them and they reward her with fruits, vegetables and flowers.‎ Being a career military (军人) family, we've lived in many different places over the years. But no matter where we were stationed, one thing always remained the same: Karen's gardens. In addition to the delicious fruits and vegetables, home gardens provide so much more. Flowering plants and their multi-colored flowers are lovely. Green is pleasing to the eye. Plants make us happy.‎ In days past, bees moved around in groups all over our yard. We admired them and they took no notice of us. Even the dogs learned to leave them alone. The bees came for the flowers.‎ At some point, the bees just stopped coming to visit. Where we used to entertain dozens at a time, we're lucky now if we get one or two. When I walk the dogs, the bees I used to see buzzing all over the neighborhood are now lying on the sidewalk, either still or moving around in a circle. I'm no beekeeper, but I'm pretty sure something is happening to the bees.‎ By chance, the first three speakers at the Poway City Council meeting happened to be local beekeepers. All three expressed serious concern over the continued use of herbicides ( 除草剂) and insecticides (杀虫剂). Once considered harmless, both chemicals have since proven to be deadly for bees.‎ They call it Colony Collapse Disorder (蜂群崩溃综合症) and it is not a problem just for beekeepers. On the contrary, this might involve the whole human race. The reason is simple. Bees are the number one pollinator (虫媒) on the planet. Without bees, we lose most of the crops we rely upon for food.‎ ‎32.Why does the author mention his wife's gardening skill at the beginning of the text?‎ A. To prove her wisdom. B. To introduce the topic.‎ C. To catch readers' eye. D. To show off her great ability.‎ ‎33. What did the three speakers at the Poway City Council meeting seem to suggest?‎ A. Raising more bees. B. Planting more trees.‎ C. Avoiding cutting grass. D. Stopping using harmful chemicals.‎ ‎34. How does the author sound when telling the story?‎ A. Curious. B. Worried. C. Confused. D. Humorous.‎ ‎35. What can be a suitable title for the text?‎ A. Where have all the bees gone?‎ B. Why is it necessary to plant trees?‎ C. What is the influence of keeping bees?‎ D. How can we protect bees from dying off ?‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ What to do in a fire Talking about fires can be frightening because no one likes to think about people getting hurt or their things getting burned. 36 So let's start from talking about escape plans and escape routes.‎ ‎● 37‎ An escape plan can help you get out of a burning house. The idea is to get outside quickly and safely. Smoke from a fire can make it hard to see where things are, so it's important to learn and remember the different ways out of your home. How many exits (出口) are there? 38 It's a good idea to draw a map of the escape plan. It's possible one way out could be blocked by fire or smoke, so you'll want to know where other ones are.‎ ‎● Remember the safety steps. ‎ If you're in a room with the door closed when the fire breaks out, you need to take more steps: Check to see if there's heat or smoke coming in the cracks around the door. If you see smoke coming under the door — don't open the door! 39 If the door is hot or very warm — don't open the door! If you don't see smoke — and the door is not hot — then use your fingers to lightly touch the door handle. If the door handle is hot or very warm — don't open the door!‎ If the door handle feels cool, and you can't see any smoke around the door, you can open the door very carefully. When you open the door, if you feel heat or smoke pours into the room, quickly shut the door. 40‎ A. Get everyone out.‎ B. Know your way out.‎ C. If you don't see smoke — touch the door.‎ D. How do you get to them from your room?‎ E. But what if there was a fire where you live?‎ F. But you can feel less worried if you are prepared.‎ G. If there's no smoke or heat, go toward your escape route exit.‎ 第三部分:语言知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。‎ I try to take part in as many sports as I can at school, but to be honest I'm pretty hopeless! 41 , last week I decided I'd try to get onto the school relay ( 接力赛跑) team, 42 they're considered really cool.
