However, spending too much time in space may cause health problems, according to NASA.That's why astronauts shouldn't spend more than six months on the International Space Station(ISS) at a time. Muscle and boneless In a weightless environment, astronauts don't need to use their muscles to support themselves. Therefore, their muscles start shrinking(萎缩). To keep their muscles strong, astronauts need to exercise about 2 hours each day on the ISS. The weightless environment also causes astronauts' bones to lose minerals(矿物质), with density(密度) dropping at over 1 percent per month. The rate of bone loss for elderly people on the Earth is 1 to 1.5 percent per year. Sleep disorder In space, the sun rises every 90 minutes. It is hard for astronauts to get used to this light-dark cycle when they sleep. Also, they need to sleep in a sleeping bag that is fixed to a wall, which is uncomfortable. Astronauts now have individual sleeping pods(分离仓) that help shut out some of the light. Still, studies have found that most astronauts only sleep about six hours each night, even though they should have eight and a half hours. Brain changes Scientists have found that the position of the brain changes during spaceflight. It shifts upward within the skull(头骨). This can affect how the brain deals with how we see, stay balanced and move around. That's why some astronauts can't control their movement and balance after returning to the earth. 3 Scientists have also found that astronauts may get used to this change after going on more spaceflights. But they still need to do more research. 1.According to the passage, astronauts may suffer the following health problems: . Why, for example, are yawns(呵欠)contagious(传染的)?What's up with ice-cream headaches? Here are answers to these and other questions about our bodies. Why do I get a headache when I eat ice-cream too quickly? Scientists aren't exactly sure what causes the brain freeze when we eat ice-cream or other super-cold foods too quickly, though some believe it's the result of changed blood flow in the nervous system. Blood vessels in the head tighten to stop the loss of body heat and then relax to let blood flow rise; that sudden rush of blood is what causes the headache. You can improve an ice-cream headache by rapidly rubbing your tongue across 4 the roof of your mouth to help warm up things. What causes my stomach to make a low continuous noise when I'm hungry? Actually, your stomach makes noise whether you're hungry or full; you just hear it more clearly when you're hungry.Think of your digestive tract(消化道)as a really long tube lined with smooth muscle tissue. These muscles move food, fluids and gas through your digestive tract. And that's what you're hearing when your stomach makes noise. Why do I blush when I'm embarrassed? When you're embarrassed, your brain releases a shot of adrenaline(肾上腺素), which makes your heart race and blood vessels become larger in size. There are a lot of tiny blood vessels in your face, which turn noticeably redder from this sudden rush of blood. As for the actual function of blushing, researchers are still trying to find that one out. Why are yawns contagious?Have you ever yawned in front of someone, only to have them yawn right back? It's a common thing but researchers don't have a good explanation for it.They do, however, know this happens only with humans and chimpanzees(黑猩猩). 5.What is the meaning of the underlined word “tighten”? ( ) A.To become looser. B.To become smaller. C.To become longer. D.To become shorter. 6.What's the structure of the passage? ( ) A. B. C. D. 7.Which of the following statements is TRUE?( ) A.There is no way for you to improve an ice-cream headache. B.Researchers have found out the actual function of blushing.
