2018-2019学年黑龙江省齐齐哈尔市第八中学高二上学期期末考试英语试题 Word版

‎2018——2019学年度上学期期末考试 高二英语试题 第一部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分40分。)‎ 第一节(共15小题,每小题2分,满分30分)‎ A The first day of school our professor challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t know. I turned around to find a wrinkled(有皱纹的) old lady. She said, “ Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I’m 87 years old. Can I give you a hug?” I laughed and enthusiastically responded, “ Of course you may!”, and she gave me a giant squeeze. “ Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?” I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.‎ ‎“ I always dreamed of having a college education and now I am getting one!” she told me. After class we shared a chocolate milk shake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months, we would leave class together and talk non-stop. Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus star and she easily made friends wherever she went.‎ At the end of the term we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet(宴会). I’ll never forget what she taught us. She cleared her throat and began, “ we do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. If you are 19 years old and lie in bed for one full year and don’t do one productive thing, you will turn 20 years old. If I am 87 years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything, I will turn 88. anybody can grow older. That doesn’t take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding the opportunity in change and have no regrets.”‎ At the year’s end Rose finished the college degree. One week after graduation, Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over 2000 college students attended her funeral in honor of the wonderful woman who taught by example that it’s never too late to be all you can possibly be.‎ ‎1. The 11-storey ship was not just very large, but also unusually luxurious (豪华). It is therefore not surprising that the sinking of the Titanic continues to attract the interest of people of all ages, even today. ‎ Over the years, there have been many books about this tragedy. However, very few have been written from the perspective (视角) of the young passengers. This is why I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912 by Lauren Tarshis is fun and different. The author uses facts from the real tragedy and makes up a heart-stopping adventure story starring a smart and brave boy George Calder. After spending an exciting vacation in England with their Aunt Daisy, ten-year-old Gorge and his little sister Phoebe, were heading home to America, aboard the greatest ship on earth, the Titanic! ‎ Then on the night of April 14th, the first sign of disaster appeared---the luxury ship hit a huge iceberg. But given that everybody in the world knew that the Titanic was unsinkable, there was very little cause for panic. They were all confident that the ship's engineers would be able to repair the "slight" damage that had been caused by the iceberg. ‎ This, of course, turned out to be untrue. Within a few hours the Titanic was not only sinking, but faster than most people had time to react. Added to this was the fact that there were not enough lifeboats to take all the passengers to shore. If that was not enough, when the emergency call to get on the deck came, Gorge realized that his sister Phoebe was missing.‎ Will George be able to find his sister and help her get to shore? To find out, be sure to read I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912.‎ ‎5. Who is the main character of I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912?‎ A. Lauren Tarshis B. Daisy C. George Calder D. Phoebe ‎6. What made it more difficult for all the passengers to survive?‎ A. the lack of lifeboats B. the unskilled engineers ‎ C. no emergency call D. the disorder caused by panic C ‎ ‎  How to look good in a photo? What should you do if you want to have a nice photo taken? Whether it's work or fun, the most important thing is lighting. If you get bad lighting, you will look bad, too.Know where the light is.You don't want it below you or above you, you want it to shine directly at you.                 The key thing is no shadow. If you are being photographed outside, do it in the morning, or wait till the 2 o'clock shadow has passed. Also don't let pictures in the ‎ magazines stress you out —all the pictures are taken by great photographers. And all the faces have had pimples (丘疹,粉刺)  taken out by computers.                                                                              Tip your head and learn what angles work with your face; everyone is different. So you have to learn what suits you.You can practice in Photo Booth for as long as it is your turn, to learn what angles suit your face.Tip your neck to make it look longer, make eye contact with the camera. No one can look bad if they smile.                                                           For long legs, point one leg into center of the frame and get the photographer to shoot looking up your body. For just leg shots, lie upside down and raise legs in the air for the best angle. And your legs will look thinner and be in better shape.‎ Keep shoulders back.                                                                         Always have mouth slightly open, enough to put a penny between your lips, as this will make your lips look fuller.                                                                        Lower your eyes and then look up just as shutter (快门) is clicked for full eyes.    Delete any evidence of a less than perfect photogenic moment, everyone has off days. 9.If you want to look good in a photo, the light should be ______.   A.below you            B.above you  C.directly at you      D.right behind you ‎10.According to the passage, we should consider all EXCEPT ______.    A.light           B.shadow    C.angles             D.photographers 11.What advice does the author give on taking photos?  A.Raise legs on the wall.                 B.Look down.   C.Keep shoulders back.                   D.Put a penny between lips.‎ D ‎ American LaMar Baylor spends most of his time in New York City, working as a performer in the Broadway musical —The Lion King.
