Module 1 Basketball (建议用时:45分钟) Ⅰ.阅读理解 A (2020·重庆质量抽测)Roberto Clemente is the greatest baseball player of all time. He had an unbelievable batting average(击球率) in all seasons he played. Having won four batting titles, Gold Glove Awards twelve times, and a Most Valuable Player Award, he is certainly the best that ever played. Besides being the best baseball player, Roberto Clemente was also a great man and a hero. In 1972, there was an earthquake in Nicaragua. On December 31 of that year, Clemente flew to Nicaragua to take supplies to the people. Almost immediately after takeoff, the plane crashed into the Caribbean Sea. The best honors for Clemente came after he died. He was the first Latino voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. In 1999, the city of Pittsburgh, where he played baseball, renamed a bridge after him—a bridge that leads to the city’s beautiful new stadium. No one summed up the life of Roberto Clemente and the baseball commissioner(总干事) when, at Clemente’s Hall of Fame award ceremony, he said, “He was so great a man, as a leader and humanitarian, so great an inspiration to the young and to all in baseball, especially to the proud people of his homeland, Puerto Rico.” The commissioner further honored Clemente by creating a sportsmanship award in his name. 1.What can be concluded from Roberto Clemente’s trip to Nicaragua? 根据第二段第二、三句“In 1972, there was an earthquake in Nicaragua. On December 31 of that year, Clemente flew to Nicaragua to take supplies to the people.” 8 2.What do we know about Roberto Clemente from the passage? A.He died in Puerto Rico. B.There was a bridge built for him. C.He played baseball in Pittsburgh. D.His statue was in the Baseball Hall of Fame. 根据第三段尾句中的“In 1999, the city of Pittsburgh, where he played baseball”可知,他曾在匹兹堡市打过棒球,故C项正确。 3.What happened at Clemente’s Hall of Fame award ceremony? A.A sportsmanship award was set up in Clemente’s name. B.Clemente was voted into the Soccer Hall of Fame. C.Clemente gained an honor from the people of his homeland. A.A science journal. B.A sports magazine. C.A radio program. D.A news report. B (2020·湖南湘东六校联考)It was about seven years ago. I just picked up my threeyearold daughter from the nursery. I was weighed down with shopping bags, and with my daughter’s things. We arrived at a pedestrian crossing and she pressed the button. In the distance, I heard alarms, told my daughter to wait and watched a police car approaching. Little did I know, as the__green__man flashed, that my daughter had begun to run into the road. I watched the police car speed toward us—that’s when you sounded your horn and waved wildly to me. My daughter was about a meter from the path of the police car, hidden from their view by your car. I screamed her name and ran toward her. She stopped and was shocked by the rush of the police car as it sped past. She wondered why you had blown your horn, asking, “Mom, why was that woman so rude?” not realizing you had saved her life. She wondered why I picked her up and burst into tears. My legs gave way as I 8 reached the other side of the road. I should have followed my “wait” with a hand on her shoulder, or an explanation of why we were ignoring the green man this time, especially as I had in effect conditioned her to cross the road at the sight of the green flash. I beat myself up for months, and still do, with flashbacks and horrible assumptions about what might have been. But for your sounding your horn, seeing what I hadn’t seen, I would have been left a mother on the other side of the road, totally broken. I apologize for putting you in that position—I can imagine that it upset you, too. You saved her life and I am so grateful. 5.What does the underlined part “the green man” in Paragraph 2 refer to? A.A pedestrian. B.A policeman. C.A traffic sign. D.A button. 根据第二段第一句“Little did I know, as the__green__man flashed, that my daughter had begun to run into the road.” 6.Why did the woman sound her horn? A.To stop the police car. B.To show her impatience. C.To greet passing pedestrians. D.To draw the mother’s attention. 根据第二段第二、三句“I watched the police car speed toward us—that’s when you sounded your horn and waved wildly to me. My daughter was about a meter from the path of the police car, hidden from their view by your car.” 7.What can we infer from the incident? A.The mother didn’t regret what had happened. B.The daughter didn’t follow the traffic rules. 8 C.The woman responded quickly and properly. D.The police drove beyond the speed limit. She stopped and was shocked by the rush of the police car as it sped past.” 8.How did the mother feel when taking hold of her daughter? A.Angry and shocked. B.Scared but relieved. C.Guilty and confused. D.Grateful but sad. 根据第四段第一、二句“She wondered why I picked her up and burst into tears. My legs gave way as I reached the other side of the road.” Ⅱ.七选五 (2020·郑州一中摸底测试) Teenagers are especially likely to suffer loneliness. Here are some suggestions for speeding a recovery from loneliness. Reach out to others, but start small. A smile and a friendly greeting for the student behind you in line at the cafeteria won’t make you best friends. 1.________ It also can make it easier to interact the next time. Find a safe place to make connections. If going to the school dance makes you feel like you just don’t belong, try joining a special interest group. Maybe it’s the drama club or the marching band. 2.________ Find other ways of making connections. Lonely people hunger for acceptance and friendship. Sometimes feeling accepted and liked comes more easily when you do something for others. 3.________ Teach a child reading. Take notes for a disabled classmate. You might be surprised at the connections you make after reaching out to others in these ways. 4.________ Loneliness is an absence of quality friendships, not of a particular quantity of friends. That’s why it’s important to know how to select a friend. The best friendships are those based on similar values and attitudes. 8 You get what you expect, so expect the best. If you expect others to be friendly, you will behave in similar ways. 5.________ It goes away as teens learn how to find their way through their social world and connect with others. A.But it will make you both feel pretty good. B.So consider becoming a volunteer. C.Some teens aren’t so adaptable, however. D.Encourage people to be friendlier to you. E.Choose the right people. F.For most young people, loneliness is only temporary. G.Look for a group that allows you to ease gradually. 1.A 解析:根据语境可知,空前一句和空后的“It also can make it easier to interact the next time.” 2.G 解析:根据上文“Find a safe place to make connections. If going to the school dance makes you feel like you just don’t belong, try joining a special interest group.” 3.B 解析:根据上文“Sometimes feeling accepted and liked comes more easily when you do something for others.” Take notes for a disabled classmate.”。 4.E 解析:根据下文“Loneliness is an absence of quality friendships, not of a particular quantity of friends. That’s why it’s important to know how to select a friend.” 5.F 解析:由空后的“It goes away as teens learn how to find their way through their social world and connect with others.” Ⅲ.完形填空 (2020·南昌二模)In a clean, clinical room, my best friend was dying in my arms.
