But after a long struggle, I found a hobby that changed my life.‎ My depression really kicked in after my parents moved to the UK when I was about 11 years old. Having to get used to life in a foreign country was very difficult. The friends I knew were gone, and the changes in my environment led to my depression. I had problems in many parts of my life, which made it feel impossible for me to carry on.‎ At that time, I didn’t understand that depression was an illness. I remember a particular day when I couldn’t find enough strength to get myself home from playing in the park—it felt like I was carrying the world on my shoulders.‎ Other times, I even thought about killing myself —I just felt so trapped. I never really reached out for help either, as I felt that there wasn’t anyone who could have helped with my situation.‎ What turned my life around, however, was discovering street dancing. I was introduced to it by a friend, and I started taking classes at a studio in London. After a few weeks, I began to go out and meet a lot of other dancers to practice and train with them on a regular basis. It gave me a purpose, and eventually the happiness I gained from it helped me manage my depression. The dancing helped me get my life back, focus on my studies, and get through university.‎ My advice to anyone who might be going through something like I was is to reach out for help. The thing about life is that it changes, and you never know what might come your way. If someone had said to me during those dark moments that I would have gone on to achieve the things I have, I wouldn’t have ever believed it.‎ Just take each day as it comes, and remember that there’s always someone, or something, out there to help you.‎ ‎25.How did the author deal with his depression at first?‎ A.He turned to his old friends for help. B.He talked about it with his parents.‎ C.He put up with it by himself. D.He read many articles about it.‎ ‎26.How did street dancing benefit the author?‎ A.It helped him find a good job.‎ B.It taught him how to control his emotions perfectly.‎ C.It let him find many true friends.‎ D.It cheered him up and made him feel positive.‎ ‎27.What does the author suggest people do when they feel down?‎ A.Always be confident in themselves. B.Find someone or something to rescue them.‎ C.Wait for help to come patiently. D.Accept everything that life sends their way.‎ ‎28.How might the author feel about his future?‎ A.Hopeful. B.Fearful. C.Satisfied. D.Uncertain.‎ C An earthquake is one of the most common natural disasters. It may cause great damage. So it is wise to learn some simple safety tips to protect yourself or your family members.‎ Fragile items like those made of glass are easily broken and should usually be placed on a lower surface, near the ground instead of placing them in the cupboards higher up. Never place them near your bed, sofas and other furniture where you would be sitting or lying down. When there is a strong movement, these pieces will fall on the floor directly and not on you.‎ There is a strong chance of short circuits (短路) and fire during an earthquake. Make sure you turn off electrical connections and gas immediately when an earthquake happens.‎ During an earthquake, lie beneath an object that is not easily damaged. Do not go near objects that could directly fall on you. Never use the elevator to go down. Stay inside until the shaking stops and it is safe to go outside. Research has shown that most injuries happen when people inside buildings try to go out. Use the staircases at all times.‎ If you are outdoors, do not take shelter under a tree, streetlights, electric poles or tall buildings. If you are driving, stop your car and stay in a safe place. Do not park your car under a tree or any tall object.‎ If trapped in debris (瓦砾堆), cover your mouth with a handkerchief or clothing. Tap on a pipe or the wall so that rescuers can find you. Use a whistle (哨子) if one is available. Never shout for help. Shouting can cause you to breathe in dangerous amounts of dust. Do not light a match because you may burn yourself. Do not move about or kick up dust.‎ ‎29. The purpose of the passage is to tell readers .‎ A. what to do in earthquakes B. how to prevent earthquakes C. the damage caused by earthquakes D. the rescue work after earthquakes ‎30. The underlined word “Fragile” in Paragraph 2 probably means “ _”.‎ A. Easily found B. Expensive C. Easily broken D. Heavy ‎31. During the earthquake, people are advised to .‎ A. take shelter under a tree B. drive to a safe place quickly C. go out of the building at once D. turn off electricity and gas immediately D Parties and social gathering no longer excite us the same way they once did. This is because of mobile-phone.‎ At parties, more people are on their phones than on their drinks. According to a recent International Data Corporation Study, over half of all Americans have a smartphone and reach for it as soon as they wake up, keeping it in hand all day. In addition, too many people in society are using smartphones while driving and as a result, they get into danger. 34 percent of teenagers admit sending messages while driving. People’s addiction (沉溺) to their smartphones is unbelievably becoming more important than the lives of themselves and others.‎ Just as drivers ignore the importance of focusing (集中注意力) while on the road, many people also fail to recognize the importance of human communication. When with their friends,‎ ‎ some people aimlessly check or send messages in front of a friend, which sends a message to that friend: the person I am texting is more important than you. In addition, depending on our smartphones to make friends does not give us the same advantage as being able to make new friendships in the real world. Face-to-face conversations will give us much stronger communication skills in the long run.‎ As many people risk their lives and the lives of people around them just to send a message or mindlessly check their messages, smartphones are in many ways more dangerous to people. The quality of this technology is preventing societal achievements and weakening the value of communication. Not only is the smartphone affecting our desire to communicate face to face, but it is also lowering society’s ability to communicate.‎ ‎32. The purpose of the passage is to .‎ ‎ A. call for an end to use the smartphone while driving ‎ B. tell us to pay attention to communication skills ‎ C. express a concern about the overuse of the smartphone ‎ D. advise us to be careful about face-to-face communication.‎ ‎33. The second paragraph is developed by .‎ ‎ A. giving examples B. time order. C. comparing facts D. space order ‎34. The author advises us to make new friends .‎ ‎ A. by using smartphones B. in a face-to-face way ‎ C. in different ways D. by writing letters ‎35. Over-dependence on the smartphone leads to the fact that .‎ ‎ A. parties and gathering limit their social circle ‎ ‎ B. people are more and more easy-going ‎ C. people’s communication skills are becoming weaker ‎ ‎ D. face-to-face communication becomes more and more dangerous 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ WeChat, known as Weixin in China, is a mobile phone text and voice messaging communication service which is developed by Tencent.
