You are not allowed to take containers for carrying apples.‎ B ‎ “I feel unlikable, lonely and hopeless,” said Lisa, a bright teenager from a loving home. “It seems that nobody wants to become my friend. What's wrong with me?”‎ Like Lisa, many of us experience loneliness. The truth is that all people, no matter what their age or character — even the most outgoing, wealthy and popular — experience loneliness at least sometimes. It's healthy and natural to want to be around people who care. After all, we've all heard “No man is an island.” That's true. We all need others in our lives.‎ Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, explains that if we want friends, we must be friendly and reach out to others. But it has risk. Because we are often afraid of rejection (拒绝), many of us are unwilling to reach out to others. We take a safer way and wait for others to make friends with us.‎ ‎ But if we want friends, we've got to get beyond this.‎ If making friends is your goal as well, you need to consider taking some measures.‎ Be willing to take the initiative (主动权). If you see someone whom you would like to know, don't wait for her to make the first move. Get close to her and begin a conversation. Let her know in a nonaggressive (无攻击性的) manner that you are interested in being friends with her.‎ Reach out to those who are lonely. When you see someone at school sitting alone, go over and talk to her. And don't let popularity decide whom you reach out to. You'll often be surprised at the beautiful qualities behind a shy appearance.‎ Ask questions. Start your first conversation by asking this possible friend what she likes to do or asking about her family. Be sure to ask questions that cannot be replied with “yes” or “no”. For example, don't ask “Do you have a dog?” Instead, say “So, tell me about your pets.” Avoiding asking “yes” or “no” questions makes your possible friend not end your communication with a oneword answer.‎ ‎24.Why does the author begin the text with Lisa's worry?‎ A.To set a sad tone. B.To share Lisa's pain.‎ C.To introduce the topic. D.To teach readers a lesson.‎ ‎25.What can be a risk caused by reaching out to others according to the passage?‎ A.Being treated in a rude way. B.Being refused by others.‎ C. Putting ourselves in danger. D.Losing interest in communicating.‎ ‎26.What can we know from Paragraph 5?‎ A.A proper manner is important in making friends.‎ B.Just waiting for chances will waste our time.‎ C.Popular people are often easygoing.‎ D.Shy people are hard to talk to.‎ ‎27.Why does the author suggest not asking “yes” or “no” questions?‎ A.It is considered unfriendly.‎ B.It will leave a bad first impression.‎ C.It shows the poor quality of the speaker.‎ D.It isn't good for keeping a conversation going.‎ C I left university with a good degree in English Literature, but no sense of what I wanted to do. Over the next six years, I was treading water, just trying to earn an income. I tried journalism, but I didn’t think I was any good, then finance, which I hated. Finally, I got a job as a rights assistant at a famous publisher. I loved working with books, although the job that I did was dull.‎ I had enough savings to take a year off work, and I decided to try to satisfy a deep-down wish to write a novel. Attending a Novel Writing MA course gave me the structure I needed to write my first 55,000 words.‎ It takes confidence to make a new start — there’s a dark period in-between where you’re neither one thing nor the other. You’re out for dinner and people ask what you do, and you’re too ashamed to say, “Well, I’m writing a novel, but I’m not quite sure if I’m going to get there.” My confidence dived. Believing my novel could not be published, I put it aside.‎ Then I met an agent(代理商)who said I should send my novel out to agents. So, I did and, to my surprise, got some wonderful feedback. I felt a little hope that I might actually become a published writer and, after signing with an agent, I finished the second half of the novel.‎ The next problem was finding a publisher. After two-and-a-half years of no income, just waiting and wondering, a publisher offered me a book deal - that publisher turned out to be the one I once worked for.‎ It feels like an unbelievable stroke of luck -of fate, really. When you set out to do something different, there’s no end in sight, so to find myself in a position where I now have my own name on a contract(合同)of the publisher -to be a published writer - is unbelievably rewarding(有回报的).‎ ‎28. What does the underlined part in Paragraph 1 mean?‎ A. I was waiting for good fortune. ‎ B. I was trying to find an admirable job.‎ C. I was being aimless about a suitable job.‎ D. I was doing several jobs for more pay at a time.‎ ‎29. The author decided to write a novel ______ .‎ A. to finish the writing course B. to realize her own dream C. to satisfy readers’ wish D. to earn more money ‎30. How did the writer feel halfway with the novel?‎ A. Disturbed. B. Uncertain. C. Confident. D. Ashamed.‎ ‎31. What does the author mainly want to tell readers in the last paragraph?‎ A. It pays to stick to one’s goal. ‎ B. Luck plays an important role in our life.‎ C. She feels like being unexpectedly lucky. ‎ D. There is no end in sight when starting to do something.‎ D China has completed its home-grown BeiDou Navigation (导航) Satellite System (BDS) with the successful launch of two more BDS-3 satellites, ‎19 in all, and has started providing services to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) since the end of 2018. The BDS, which will compete against the US’ Global Positioning System (GPS), will provide high-precision, reliable positioning, navigation and timing services anywhere in the world by the end of 2020.‎ The Belt and Road Initiative is an ambitious effort to improve regional cooperation and connectivity in a trans-continental range. The initiative aims to strengthen infrastructure (基础设施), trade, and investment links between China and some 65 other countries. It is also expected to increase Beijing’s influence in these countries.‎ ‎“This is a key step for the BDS developing from a Chinese home system to a regional and then a global navigation system,” said Yang Changfeng, chief designer of the BeiDou system. China plans to launch another 11 BDS-3 satellites between the end of 2018 and 2020. China developed the BDS through a unique technological approach, contributing Chinese wisdom to the theory and construction of international satellite navigation systems.‎ Altogether 18 BDS satellites have been sent into space in 2018, making this year the most intensive launch of the BDS satellites. They improved their work efficiency by improving the management process. The number of satellite staff at the launch center has been reduced by nearly half, and the testing time before launch has been shortened by nearly a third. In the CAST production base in Beijing, several BDS satellites are being manufactured(制造) at the same time. They try to improve intelligent manufacturing capability, and cut down production times. Construction of the BDS-3 system has accelerated.‎ Once the BDS is fully completed, it will be the fourth global satellite navigation system after the US GPS system, Russia’s GLONASS and the European Union’s Galileo. India too, is building ‎ its navigational system called the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), with an operational name of NAVIC.‎ ‎32. When can the BDS offer global services?‎ A. In 2018. B. In 2019. C. In 2020 D. In 2025.‎ ‎33. What can the BDS do now?‎ A. Take the place of the GPS of the USA.‎ B. Watch anyone anywhere in the world.‎ C. Control the Belt and Road countries.‎ D. Serve the Belt and Road Initiative.‎ ‎34. What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about?‎ A. The unique characters of the BDS.‎ B. The Chinese technology of the BDS.‎ C. The difficulties the BDS has to deal with.‎ D. The efforts of the staff of the BDS.‎ ‎35. What can be the best title for the text?‎ A. China’s BDS is approaching its goal step by step B. China’s BDS helps BRI increase Beijing’s international influence C. China’s BDS has become the fourth global satellite navigation system D. The unique technological approach makes China’s BDS outstanding 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,共10分)‎ ‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 .‎ Some people are so rude. Who sends an e-mail or a text message that just says “Thank you”? Who leaves a voice mail message rather than texts you? Who asks for a fact easily found on the Internet? 36 ‎ ‎ Maybe I’m the rude one for not appreciating life’s little courtesies ( 礼节). But many social norms (规范) just don’t make sense to people drowning in digital communication.‎ ‎ Take the thank-you note. Daniel Post Senning, a coauthor of Emily Post’s Etiquette, asked, “At what point does showing appreciation outweigh the cost?”‎ ‎ 37 Think of how long it takes to listen to one of those messages. In texts, you don’t have to ‎ declare who you are or even say hello. E-mail, too, is slower than a text. The worst are those who leave a voice mail and then send an e-mail message to tell you they left a voice mail.‎ ‎ This isn’t the first time technology has changed our manners. 38 Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor, suggested that people say, “Ahoy!” Finally, hello won out, and the victory sped up the greeting’s use in face-to-face communications.‎ ‎ In the age of the smart phone, there is no reason to ask once-acceptable questions about: the weather forecast, a business’s phone number, or directions to a house, a restaurant, or an office, which can be easily found on a digital map. 39 And when you answer, they respond with a thank-you e-mail.‎ ‎ How to handle these differing standards? Easy: Consider your audience. Some people, especially older ones, appreciate a thank-you message. ‎40 In traditional societies, the young learn from the old. But in modern societies, the old can also learn from the young. Here’s hoping that politeness never goes out of fashion but that time-wasting forms of communication do.‎ A. Then there is voice mail.‎ B. Others, like me, want no reply.‎ C. But people still ask these things.‎ D. Don’t these people realize that they’re wasting your time?‎ E. Won’t new technology bring about changes in our daily life?‎ F. Face-to-face communication makes comprehension much easier.‎ G.When the telephone was invented, people didn’t know how to greet a caller.‎ 第三部分:英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节 完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ ‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。‎ She’s 14 now, a turbulent (不安的)age.‎ She walks into the __41__.
