I nodded. “Mark talked about you a lot. I want to show you something,” he said, taking a wallet out of his pocket. “They found this on him when he was killed in the battle. We thought you might recognize it.” Opening the wallet, he carefully removed two worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded and refolded many times. I knew without looking that the papers were the ones on which I had listed all the good things each of Mark's classmates had said about him. And that happened 20 years ago. Mark was in the third grade class I taught. All 34 of my students were dear to me, but Mark was one in a million. Very neat in appearance, he had that happytobealive attitude that made even his occasional misbehavior delightful. Mark also talked without stopping. I tried to remind him again and again that talking without permission was unacceptable. What impressed me so much, though, was the sincere response every time I had to correct him for misbehaving. “Thank you for correcting me, Sister!” I didn't know what to make of it at first but before long I became accustomed to hearing it many times a day. One morning my patience was growing thin when Mark talked once too often. I made a newteacher's mistake. I looked at Mark and said, “If you say one more word, I am going to tape your mouth shut!” It wasn't ten seconds later when Chuck shouted, “Mark is talking again.” I hadn't asked any of the students to help me watch Mark, but since I had stated the punishment in front of the class, I had to act on it. Paragraph 1: I walked to my desk and took out a roll of tape. ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: One day I decided to do something different when Mark talked again in class.________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ 写作规范练(四) 第一节 【佳作展台】 Dear Alex, ①Hearing that you will return to your country soon, I feel a bit upset. But meanwhile, I want to send my sincere gratitude for your kind help with my English learning. I still remember what you have devoted to improving my oral English and English writing. Besides, you also frankly shared your learning experience with me. Additionally, without your help, I would not have been a top student in English and would not have won the English Speech Contest. ②All in all, words fail to express my thankfulness to you. I do hope that you will have a bright future and that our friendship will last forever! Yours, Li Hua 【一句多译】 ①表达方式一:It is sad for me to hear that you will return to your country soon. 表达方式二:You will return to your country soon, which makes me feel a bit upset. ②All in all, I can't thank you enough for your kindness. Paragraph 1: I walked to my desk and took out a roll of tape. Very deliberately, I proceeded to Mark's desk, tore off two pieces of the tape and made a big X with them over his mouth. I then returned to the front of the room. As I glanced at Mark to see how he was doing, he winked at me. I started laughing. The entire class cheered as I walked back to Mark's desk, removed the tape and shrugged my shoulders. His first words were, “Thank you for correcting me, Sister.” Paragraph 2: One day I decided to do something different when Mark talked again in class. I asked the other students to think of the good things they could say about Mark and write them down. Then I listed them on a separate piece of paper. The next day I gave it to Mark. “Really?” Before long I heard him whispering. The paper did work. Mark listened more and more carefully to my instruction from that day on. “Thank you so much for doing that,” the old man brought me back down to earth. “As you can see, Mark treasured it,” he added. That was when I finally cried.查看更多
